I felt compelled to write this review after seeing negative reviews on here calling the BLA a 'scam'. I needed advice regarding an issue with tenant in arrears. I wasn't sure who to join - NRLA or BLA, and researched both, but after briefly speaking to both companies on the phone, I had a much better feeling from Ahmed at BLA than NRLA who seemed a bit dismissive of my issue.

I was concerned about the negative reviews on here but went with my own positive experience and I joined BLA. Last night, I wrote BLA an email detailing my issue. I was amazed to receive a comprehensive response by email this afternoon, detailing my remedies, legal rights and next steps. It was less than 24 hours! Another deciding factor for me was that BLA advisers are lawyers, whereas I don't think that's always the case with NRLA.

I understand that everyone's experience is different, but mine has been outstanding so far. From the initial helpful phone call as a non-member, to the fast and very carefully laid out reply I have received as a new member. Thank you so much BLA.

The BLA and specifically Mr Ahmad, have been absolutely invaluable with regard to my recent section 21 notice and trying to obtain my property back from a very difficult tenant. Without them I have no idea where I would be now!! They have always been on hand whenever I have needed them taking calls from me even when we were attending court. Mr Ahmad incredible. Well done the BLA you were there when we really needed great advice.

Terrible customer service! If you need an answer by email within a reasonable amount of time forget it! If you need anything urgent because you have a problem with the tenants! Forget it! You received an email days and days later and tell you to call them! So clearly they can’t write emails neither ?!? I wonder why and how they exist. Next year I will change to NRLA, let’s hope it is better which it will not take much!

I have sent an email and telephoned many times but no one ever answers. The have recently taken an automatic payment for memebership but I can not access any of the documnents on the website even when logged in as a member. I am not sure if this company is still trading even though they adverstise their services on facebook some 12 hours ago. Still awaiting a reply from mny email.

A great help in writing an official letter of complaint to my managing agent and a further offer to help if I have to pursue this to court.

This so called Association maybe a scam. Took renewal of membership fees from my card without authorisation. In response to complaint a somewhat incoherent email was received from Peter Ross (who I suspect may be a false name) saying that it's not their responsibility as the merchant takes the payment. But they are the merchant. Bizarre.

Sajjad Ahmad adviced me on some crucial issues. He was very knowledgeable and pointed me the right direction. Very grateful to the British Landlord Association. Highly Recommended!

I'm a very vouneruble person who has many problems and been through so much. I was homeless at the time i was saved by my landlady who I will call angie. She gave me a chance and a room in one of her properties she's a good landlord and for me to still be her tenant 6 yr later tells you everything. She's gone out of her way to make sure I have been looked after and so has her family I wouldn't have any other landlord and I will be there tenant for a very long time so thank you very much

The British landlords association advocacy work has made a real difference in shaping rental policies that benefit both landlords and tenants.
