Very Disappointing

The concept is a good one and it does highlight ways to receive points from credit card companies. My issue, however, is that, whilst it is worldwide, it focusses 99% on the US and totally ignores the UK market. Even more irritating, I have written to them multiple times via their feedback forum and not once have they replied or even acknowledged my comments. I fear that they are simply there to steer people towards the companies who pay them commission to recommend and endorse, and they have little interest in actually helping travellers

I wish I could give zero stars

I wish I could give zero stars. DO NOT CLICK THE WEBSITE OR YOU WILL GET EMAIL FOREVER! Plus they will sell your data and you will get tons of travel spam. I’ve unsubscribed many times.

App and Support

The app and the support received via email seems to be useless. You cannot add any loyalty programs or info. When you report, get the same answer months after reported. They claim improvements made but no change.

Spam is out of control

Spam is out of control. I have unsubscribed multiple times and still receive emails daily, for months. Don't give them your info or you will never get rid of them.

Too Americanised

There can be sosme good information on the site however it is clearly driven by the remuneration or commission that they received.

I have contacted them multiple times to ask about what is happening for UK customers with IHG regarding cards and points. They haven't replied once (I accept they can't write to everyone) but they have recently posted an article about the IHG card linked to Chase. BUT THIS IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO US CUSTOMERS. They don't seem to have any interest in the UK market and simply don't recognise that we spend a lot of money. I find the Points Guy site very poor for UK based travellers

TPG reports more positively about…

TPG reports more positively about airlines having a loyalty program and more negatively about airlines who don't.

For example the article about not wanting to fly one-stop from London to the UAE again with Wizz Air. It's an ULCC and the blogger complaints about not having WiFi or power sockets. And somehow the blogger seems to know that nobody in a plane with 239 seats enjoyed their hot meal.

Or the all-you-can-fly article about Wizz Air. TPG states that you need to fly at least 60 times in order to be worth it. That means that the average Wizz Air fare is 18€. But it's not. It's about 40€. TPG did not explain how they calculated the 60 times.

Additionally all these websites about miles and points don't say that you need to spend a lot of money in order to get points. So using a loyalty program may make you to buy more stupid things in order to get points.

On Wikipedia there is consensus, that TPG is not a reliable source of information.

Good info but also has an agenda

A lot of good information but unfortunately I believe they pay bloggers to just write about the card that's paying the most at the time. Doesn't feel genuine but use the site for what it is.

The Points Guy is stupid

The Poinys Guy is stupid. He paid $200 for a cheap flight to United Arab Emirates and got an economy seat with plenty of leg room for his six foot height. This is helpful as I am six foot three.

He then proceeded to make stupid remarks about the gate attendant, the catering service, or lack of exclusive lounge. Stupid. 1. Many lounges are not that exclusive and mostly useless for quick connections. 2. I always have paper form as well as electronic phone form for gate attendant to see. 3. Many people are on strict diets and do not want to eat on board, preferring quietly to read a book.

He is a useless shill for bank cards.

Not as good as it once was

TPG has gone downhill over the past several years. It is very clear that many of the articles are sponsored and that there are fanboy clubs for certain cards that they tout. Don't expect any true "hacks" or secrets and understand that while TPG used to be one of the best places to get information in its early days there has been more of a regression to the mean in the recent past.

Very stupid articles

Just saw an article on TPG where the title mentioned 'secrets' to dealing with the car rental shortage. These 'secrets' were things like using Uber. No, TPG, Uber isn't a secret. Also, there's a shortage of Ubers, so the article is 100% unhelpful.

Fake news and clickbait articles

"The points guy" rips you off by publishing clickbait articles in the hope you click one of its many referral links. Fake news and gutter journalism at its finest.
