Following on from the last review. Had to make a few phone calls but was eventually refunded. Maybe the shouldn't take payment straight away but wait for the booking to be completed.

Refund

Following on from the last review. Had to make a few phone calls but was eventually refunded. Maybe the shouldn't take payment straight away but wait for the booking to be completed.

The online booking worked fine but..
beware if there's a possibility that you might want to alter or cancel your reservation
This company takes payment from your card as soon as you make the booking, unlike other similar companies who take your card details in case you're a no-show but you pay the hotel/accommodation provider in the normal way when you're there.
You cannot make changes or cancellations online.
So to change the date of a booking you either have to ring the hotel and organise it yourself or book the second date online (and pay again) and then go through the cancellation process for the first booking.
Cancellation means ringing the hotel and getting them to put a cancellation through the system from their end. If you're lucky, eviivo (toprooms) will action it and you get your refund.
I had to chase them first by email (unsuccessfully) and then via their facebook page before I got my refund. The individuals were helpful when I got hold of them but the system shouldn't work like that.
I won't use them again until you can change/cancel bookings online.

This is a pub with rooms

This is a pub with rooms, very grubby and outdated, most hotels have simple things like shower gel and shampoo not here, the shower was grubby. The room was noisy from the music in the bar as our room was right above it, and considering it was a double room, we had one flimsy pillow each, window wouldn't lock , there was no instructions as to how to get out of the pub in the morning or where to put the key, when we searched we found the exit and a box to drop the keys, I'm glad it was just one night

We stayed at a place near Berwick upon …In a garage

We stayed at a place near Berwick upon Tweed booked through Toprooms.com described as a bunkhouse cottage and it is a garage! Honest its a gross misrepresentation as the pictures of the building are not shown and its because its a corner or a large workshop/garage with the bedroom window opening up into the smelly garage itself and the kitchen/lounge is shared so no peace at all. The owner said they have nothing to do with the website advertising so its Toprooms.com I blame but the owner is as bad allowing this

Hi Mark, Sorry to hear that your stay was not as expected. Whilst we enable accommodation businesses to take bookings via toprooms.com the business owner is completely in control of their content and images. We will contact them shortly to ensure that they update these

Booked a hotel through toprooms and lost booking fee

Booked a hotel through toprooms. The Hotel took £94 and then cancelled, with no refund. We've been unable to contact Hotel owner or Toprooms

IT IS NOT CLASSED AS FIVE STAR, BUT IT IS SO HOME FROM HOME LIKE BEIMG AT YOUR NAN'S IF YOU WANT SOMEWHERE CLEAN COSY WITH PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT YOU THEN YOU HAVE FOUND IT, KEN DOES A LOVELY BREAKFAST AND I AM NOT A BIG EATER SO HE DOES WHAT HE CALLS A SMALL BREAKFAST FOR £2.50 AND IT WAS STILL TO MUCH FOR ME HA. HE AND MEGAN WORK THEIR SOCKS OFF TO MAKE YOU FEEL AT HOME. WILL BE BACK WE LOVED IT. EILEEN AND NORMAN XX

Could do better

The Old Silent Inn is a lovely, cosy, atmospheric Inn near Haworth with a large downstairs area with many real fires and totally welcoming staff who cannot do enough to help the customers. The Inn has kept its olde worlde feel but is has also kept some shabby carpets and chronically out-of-date tiny ensuites. My shower broke when I tried to use it. I told the manager and he promised to fix it but really it needed replacing. For the price of an overnight stay this was annoying along with no hairdryer, toiletries, free biscuits or bottle of water things just expected these days. The staff and manager were fantastic, the food was freshly made and delicious but some upgrading is needed for the price. I would go there again, however, because the location is fantastic. I didn't expect any bland corporate chain touches but just some basics.
