I did the course over 24 weeks, the 12 Tutorials contain very extensive materials covering a wide range of aspects of travel journalism, as well as links to further reading. Each tutorial has an exercise for yourself and 10 have an assignment that is assessed by the tutor, these are returned promptly with extensive critical comments and feedback. I’m not sure I’ll ever be a successful travel journalist but it has helped me to be more aware of places I visit and formulate a commentary to myself at least. A friend of my daughters has also completed the course and successfully sold an account of his travels so it can be done. The course does give you the background potential for travel journalism whether you can do it successfully or not will depend on the person.

I thoroughly enjoyed the travel journalism course. It was inspiring, informative, and very well-structured. My tutor was fantastic—very knowledgeable and experienced. Getting feedback from him was invaluable and helped me recognise my strengths and areas for improvement. The course has given me a lot more confidence and helped me overcome self-doubt as an exophonic writer. I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone interested in travel journalism.

I've just completed the Ultimate Travel Journalism course with the British College of Journalism and have learnt a huge amount in the year I took to complete it! The course is very detailed and covers everything from how to write a particular type of article and edit to how to pitch to editors and PR Agencies.

Each assignment helps you put what you've learnt into practice and my tutor, Daniel's feedback was always very constructive, which allowed me to know where I needed to be careful/improve. If you're thinking of branching out into the world of freelance travel writing or just want to improve your writing skills, this course will equipt you with everything you need to know to get started - thank you to the college for all your help!

This course has opened my eyes and helped me understand and be ready for my career/future I want to go down. Its not by all means easy and takes alot of commitment but it has been worth it because I've learnt alot about all aspects of travel writing and making a living from it that I wouldn't of known without this course.

I love to travel and not being able to during the pandemic meant this was the next best thing. To relive my previous travel experiences from Uruguay to Switzerland from Australia to Route 66. I am a radio journalist so it was good to learn how to write as a journalist. Daniel was extremely encouraging but completely honest in giving feedback. I enjoyed the course and will be using it going forward.

Brilliant course, taught me so much. Tutor is amazing and really helps bring the best out of your writing and with his ongoing feedback from assignments along with the modules - it really helps shape and develop your style of writing. There's so much I have learned studying the ultimate travel journalism course. My writing and pitching skills have greatly improved, and Daniel has helped me in every step. Through this course, I was able to acquire my first client, and I'm so happy and grateful.

The course was brilliant. The guidance of Dan and his honest feedback was invaluable, and has finally motivated me to pitch out to editors and try and sell some of my writing and ideas. The admin team was also really supportive and quick to respond to any of my questions, and I found the online student portal easy to navigate.

I'm knocking off a star purely because quite a bit of it was quite outdated, with some links not being very current - it could be with a bit of a refresh, but the support and feedback I received throughout still enabled this to be a really beneficial course. I would recommend for anyone wanting to embark on their journalism adventure who is just after that extra push!

This course has helped me see that there is a travel writer in me bursting to come out and write more stories and get more readers engaged with the content I create.

The course tutor Daniel Scott is a truly amazing tutor and have given very constructive feedback on all of my assignments which is what I needed as I always know there is room for improvement.

After initially asking them about their on-line Ultimate Travel Journalism Diploma Course, the College sent me a very clear and detailed Course Guide. I enrolled and very thorough course material followed. My tutor was very helpful, knowledgeable, positive and encouraging, and the administrative staff were very supportive. Clear and informative tutorials were emailed to me at regular agreed intervals, and the online portal for returning assignments and asking any questions was easy to use. I received feedback on assignments within a day or two of submission, and answers to queries were also sent quickly. Regular updates were given regarding my course finances (fees/direct debits due/balance of payments) which were very helpful.

The Travel Journalism course was very relevant as it not only guides writers on the key elements of good travel writing but also explores the business side of the industry, like pitching and selling your work. Working with the tutor was especially useful as he offers his insights, perspectives and suggestions on every assignment - which, to me, is highly valuable, coming from an established travel journalist with years of experience under his belt. The course administrators have been very helpful with any queries I had, too, always replying promptly and endeavouring to assist me the best they can. It was definitely a brilliant learning journey.

A warm and encouraging welcome to the course, confirmed I had made the right choice with the British College of Journalism. If you're looking for a course which gives you the answers in a 'written comprehension school-style'...this is definitely not for you. You will engage your brain in ways that you never thought you could achieve, and you gently master how to do the impossible. This course will blend your creative ideas with personal experience, and your research extends far beyond the level of the mind, as all the senses come into play.
This course will see you through all the emotions, there will times when you ask yourself 'is this for me?', and the ego will try to talk you out of persevering - but you will also learn to be aware of what is real and stay present, and how consistency is the only pathway, that will see you through.

I enjoyed doing the course. It was a lot tougher for me than I anticipated, and it took me all of the two years allowed to complete. With constructive criticism and guidance from Daniel, I felt a real sense of achievement when I finally completed it.

I thought this course was brilliant. It marked the start of an active travel writing life, which continues to this day. It also gave me the early contacts I needed to keep going independently, as I am now. The tutor was excellent and very prompt in his analyses of what I did. When I did something well, he said so. When I did something badly, he also said so but somehow managed to do that painlessly. I would wholeheartedly recommend this course.
