Overpriced, poorly made shoes
I purchased a pair of Vice Versa transformer pumps from their official website a few years ago. I didn’t wear them for a long time, saving them for a special occasion. However, when I finally did wear them, they literally fell apart on the very first day. The sole detached from the body of the shoe, and the part that locks the folding mechanism didn’t hold at all — every time I lifted my foot, it would come loose and hang awkwardly.
I contacted customer service and explained the situation. After a long back-and-forth, and only because I insisted, they eventually agreed to replace the defective pair. It’s worth mentioning that none of the cobblers I consulted were willing to repair the shoes due to the complexity of the mechanism.
I received a new pair and wore them only once before the colder season started. That first wear went smoothly, and I even thought that perhaps the original pair had simply been defective. Then the weather turned colder, so I didn’t wear them again for a while.
Recently, when the weather got warmer again, I took them out and wore them once more. After just 15 minutes, the heel on one shoe fell off. At this point, it is only held in place by the detachable sole component.
This clearly shows that the mechanism is fundamentally flawed and poorly made. This time, I didn’t even bother contacting customer service, as I see no point. I am extremely disappointed with the quality. For a brand at this price point, the customer service is also underwhelming — if I hadn’t pushed so hard the first time, I likely would have received nothing more than a discount. And frankly, why would I want a discount from a brand that has failed to meet expectations and, in my experience, produces unreliable products?
The concept is interesting, and I would love to see this idea executed properly in the future. However, I would never purchase from Vice Versa again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. Comfort-wise, the shoes are also lacking, especially when transformed into flats — the fit and feel are far from ideal.
