I cannot express enough my frustration…

I cannot express enough my frustration with this company. We bought a policy for our dog but realised that it wasn’t for us so cancelled the same day - way within our 14 day cooling off period. It’s now been nearly a month and several unfulfilled promises later, I still don’t have my refund.

Impossible to get through to the right…

Impossible to get through to the right department! I appreciate that their numbers may be reduced but it is absolutely pointless having an overflow team who cant deal with calls. Ive been trying to cancel my policy for the past 4 days. I press the button to route my call to the cancellation team to wait for 5 minutes to speak to someone who tells me the cancellation team are all busy and that they will arrange a call back which will take 3 days. I wait 3 days with no call back so I call again to have the same thing happen! I would rather you keep me on hold for however long so I get to speak to the right department and get my policies cancelled. False promises of call backs that dont happen dont improve someone's opinion of you.

I had to make a claim this year

I had to make a claim this year. It was dealt with very quickly and efficiently. Unfortunately it would seem they are now trying to claw back the money as my renewal premium has increased by 66%. That type of increase is unjustifiable. If it does the same next year I will have to be without insurance. Not happy.

Fantastic company

I can only speak for how I was treated. It’s it’s been first class. My wee one developed a condition and to date, has cost around £4000 and counting.
We are now into year 2 and while her condition is still being treated, 4 paws again will be footing the bills. Without quibble I may add.

When the very first claim went in, I was 2 months behind in making a claim, thought at that time I would ‘just pay myself’, I wasn’t to know then about how serious the condition was to get, but when I did contact 4 paws, they paid out for all the previous claims I had paid for. They did not have to do this as it had passed the 28 day period, but for me, I will not forget such a gesture.

I’ve never had one problem since.

So yes. I would highly recommend and even while there’s a pandemic, my calls have been answered right away, only to confirm a few details but great all the same.
I may in future run into issues, but I’ll deal with that if that time ever comes.

And if you look more closely, 4 Paws is owned by aviva who my house, and life insurance is with also. So added peace of mind.

Avoid!!!

Avoid!!!! They do not pay out for genuine claims! We have been waiting since August for the claim we put in, they stalled it for months then said they needed to speak to the vet, the spoke to the vet then they said they needed more paperwork, they had it all and it was signed by the vet and everything filled in correctly. They have since just ignored us. They are not a genuine company I would never recommend them to anyone and would avoid them at all costs. I wish I would have looked at the reviews now before choosing them for pet insurance last year.

Amazing service!

Amazing service! I had queries about renewing my pet insurance and spoke to someone called graham who was lovely and very informative. My little pup is a regular at the vets unfortunately however, making claims with 4paws is easy and straight forward. I would definitely recommend!

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs. They are not interested in keeping customers. I was with 4Paws for 2 years with 2 dogs and at the most recent renewal they hiked my price up by £240 for one of my dogs despite never making a claim. I decided that the level of cover I had was no longer necessary so decided to reduce my cover to save on costs. They were happy to do this but insisted I take out a new policy, despite being with them for 2 years meaning that for 14 days my dog wouldn’t have been covered. Absolutely disgraceful. Needless to say I cancelled my policy and have gone elsewhere.

Straightforward Claims

Priced fairly especially I've got a pedigree dog. Both my rescue dogs needed an unexpected claim before Christmas - Both had different issues! 4Paws Pet Insurance dealt with each claims without any issues. It was a straightforward and stress-free claim!

But bare in mind, like with any insurance companies, there is a waiting period before they reimburse monies which is understandable especially over festive period. I wouldn't hesitate using 4Paws Pet Insurance again!

Ridiculous renewal increase when no claims

Took out a policy with them for our puppy last year, only found them because of moneysupermarket or one of the comparison websites, policy appeared to be reasonable in coverage and cost (based on previous experience from a previous pet). At renewal time policy was increased by over 30%, even though no claims at all in the period. Their justification was that all components had increased over the year (vets fees, drugs costs, insurance claims etc). When cancelling the policy was told "all insurance goes up on average 40% each year" and that the policy I was buying is probably inferior, told the representative to stop peddling such utter rubbish and that I've bought insurance for many years and they are just plain insulting peoples intelligence. Fortunately haven't had to make a claim as this level of incompetence doesn't bode well. I thought the days of this "sharp" style of negative sales was long gone, apparently not.

I joined 4Paws insurance 12 months ago…

I joined 4Paws insurance 12 months ago to cover my then 3 year old Dogue De Bordeaux. At 64kg and from a pedigree blood line I found him expensive to insure and settled with 4paws on comparison of the market for £650. I attempted to claim for a pyoderma caused by a food allergy and they refused the claim as one of my visits a year before was for a skin problem ....he goes nuts in the woods and gets plenty of minor cuts etc. The vet told me the company refused the claim but 4paws didn’t verify this for 6 weeks. It now costs me £200 a month to feed him each month due to his allergies and I can’t afford the specific testing. Today they told me it would be an additional £200 to renew his premium and he’s 4 years old and in perfect health. That’s a 30% increase! With Dogue de Bordeaux having a life expectancy of 6-8 years he is will likely have poor health and there’s no way I can afford these massive premiums year on year. They had no interest in my concerns and simply said I should change my plan to the minimum package if I couldn’t afford my current one. I’m now in a catch 22 situation as my Dog is middle aged and any presentation now will be claimed to be before the policy started if I switch. Please, please, please do not go with this company. It might seem cheap at first but they will increase the price yearly. I never had a problem with pet plan and regret switching for a cheaper alternative so much! This company are putting profits before your pet, don’t le it how happen to you too.

5+ weeks to wait

I made a claim in August.
Because of a few house moves, it took them until November to to get all the info they needed.
Well it’s 15th December, so 5+ weeks after their last correspondence and I’m still waiting for settlement.

What’s the claim for? - The fallout of an infection for my dog getting bitten on the back. Not a difficult diagnosis or complicated task one would think for a payout.

I will wait for my settlement and then cancel this shambles of an insurance provider.

They have a clause in their policy so…

They have a clause in their policy so that if they think your pet might have had something before you got them and there were no signs of ill health they will decline your claim. They send emails which are inaccurate.

They also say they don't agree with Trust Pilot and claim the poor reviews are for the USA, just to be clear this is the UK. They use Feefo, but don't tell you how to leave a review.

Excellent Pet Insurance

Excellent Pet Insurance!
I have read the mixed reviews about this company and was very worried when I had to claim for my dog Cinnamon who had paw injury and needed further tests. I have been insured with 4Paws for a year and this was my first claim. It is true that the claims team are a little behind so the turn around time is longer than stated on their website, however, they did settle my claim and I received the money today. Their team were very helpful and polite.

Do not use this company-very poor

We have waited over 5 weeks for our claim to be settled! We are still waiting! They had all information from our completed claim form and our vets.

Their statement of claims settled within 5-10 days is a joke!

Whoops, why did I get insurance with these?

Whoops! Now, I've done it. I got pet insurance through 4Paws and didn't spend enough time reading reviews. Here's the true story: After waiting 5 weeks, sending 2 emails of complaint in that time and having three long-winded phone calls with staff who seemed very unsure of their job (but always seem to work in an office where nobody is actually in charge 'there are no managers in today') we finally -after 5 weeks - had our claim settled. Awful service. I dread to think what they will do to my premiums now I have claimed. Avoid this company like the plague.

WOW - Look at their first 11 reviews!!!

I unfortunately have just signed up with 4Paws before reading Trustpilot. Sign up process was very poor and in the end I had to waste time doing it laboriously by phone due to faults on their site. Only now (too late) I look at the reviews here only to find:

- Their first 11 reviews were all within one month
- All were 5 stars
- All were from USA "customers" (none from UK)
- All were first time reviewers
- Then 5 clear months with no reviews whatsoever
- Since then: five 1*, one 2* and only one x 5*
- All but one of these subsequent reviews were from UK

I leave others to decide how to judge these amazing coincidences. My review thus far is based only on my poor personal experience of sign-up and I shall update as appropriate....

Same Old Story They Tried To Treat Me With Contempt!!

I hoped this lot might be different. Sadly NOT!! They took nearly £500 from me in the first year with no claims from me and yet they increase my premium. I cancelled and so in my opinion should anyone if they try this on!!. Only voting with our feet will companies like this stop ripping us all off!! I despair of this appalling rip off society I believe companies like this represent.

Cancelled my policy one year in, right when I needed the insurance for an illness my dog was experiencing and had "0" claims in Best bet is not get a policy started with them and if you have one consider changing... Very unreliable !
