Let me preface this by saying I rarely leave reviews and I rarely attend training. Both stems generally from my the amount of time I have to dedicate to such activities; I am a part-time user experience university instructor and I work as a Manager in industry full time. However, I as someone who values users, I value opinions and reviews. This is why I am taking the time, finally, to leave this review.

I took John's class in February, just before Covid struck. It was likely one of John's last few live classes. The course was one of the best training experience I have ever had, and for someone who is a lifelong learner with 5 degrees and multiple master certifications that is saying a lot.

I won't go into great detail about the course, because I am sure others have covered most of that material. But I will say this, as an instructor he is sensitive to the needs of the students. Bring your questions and he will answer them to the best of his ability and if he can’t answer them, he will get you an answer.

Instead let me spend a little more time talking about John. He is a passionate and knowledgeable trainer. He is well organized and reads the room well. During our training, he was able to bring in bits of information from other training sessions into our PSU class. Our questions ran the gamut from leadership to management to frameworks as we wanted to understand better how agile and UX fit and specifically how much information was available about our work context. So even though the PSU material didn’t cover our questions, he included additional information that helped address our questions, such as Cynefin Framework for decision making and organization maturity models. In fact, he covered so much new and valuable material that I asked that he come and deliver the PSU course for my entire department in July. Well, Covid prevented him from traveling to Huntsville, in July, but he was able to provide 2 back-to-back courses for my department virtually. To sweeten the deal, he invited Joshua Seiden –author of Lean UX - as cotrainer for both courses. Even though I took the course in February, I sat in on the course again in July alongside my co-workers.

In this course, John showed the same extensive knowledge of all things scrum and most things UX and his knowledge and passion was complemented by LeanUX guru Joshua. My 25+ coworkers reported that they enjoyed the course, if not the exams (even though they all did well—John always sees to that by holding after hours study sessions).

I want to close by saying, if you are looking for someone to come teach a Scrum/PSU/Kanban/Safe or whatever-John-is-teaching-now course to your company and want to ensure your personnel will come away with the material and more. You can’t go wrong live or online with John. He is the best choice out there.

John thank you so much for providing my department with your expertise. And we look forward to working with you in the not too distant future.

John was an excellent instructor who taught a great class! Because of the pandemic, my class had to take to training over zoom, but John kept us interested and engaged in the subject. As oppose to just going through a long and boring set of slides, we did a case study, had group discussions, had videos to supplement our learning, and plenty of breaks. John was also extremely patient and great with answering all of our questions. In addition, he took the time to do study sessions with us to prepare for the PSU, which I found extremely helpful, and I felt prepared to take the exam. But more than that, I felt like I actually learned in this class where I can now apply what I learned in my normal work life. I highly recommend John as a trainer.

I can only recommend the PSPO course guided by John Coleman. He is very experienced agility chef, not only guiding you through theory, but also using funny exercises and real life use cases during whole course. John is simply a person who inspires you to practice agility and gives you different angles to see complex situations and initiatives.

I really appreciate the possibility to take the course online during covid-19 pandemic and maybe it resulted even better than the class on site.

It was a joy to learn more about the marriage between Scrum and Kanban from Daniel and John. Add to that the location of the venue, the wonderful lunch restaurants around the corner and evening beers with fellow students and trainers and it quickly became a week to never forget. Who would have guessed I'd travel to Melbourne a few months later to teach others in Asia pacific to teach the same class.

I really appreciate the work done by John Coleman during my PSM1 training. Information provided, explanation of core agile/scrum principales and the great support from John, helped me to pass my PSM1 exam with 96.3%. Thanks a lot!

John is someone who is always ready to help scrum community. He is providing guidance and mentoring in my journey to become a Professional Scrum Trainer. He has a lot of knowledge and experience that he never hesitates to experience.

John managed to deliver a great remote session breaking the distance barriers and making us all feel like we were in the same room. The information was clear and easy to follow and the real life examples provided by John from his own experience are making the theory so much easier to digest. I left the course with a great list of videos to watch and book to read, it was a complete experience.

It was a great 2 days workshop. I have learnt so much within the given limited time as someone with no background at Scrum. John was patient, answered all the questions thoroughly and explained everything in details. I was up to speed in no time, and nailed assesments right away. I recommend this workshop by John to anyone who wants become a product owner.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 2-day PAL-E training with John Coleman, even though it was changed to a fully remote session due to COVID-19. Amidst the pandemic, John was very proactive in communicating and organizing beforehand in order to remain flexible and adapt to the needs of all of his students. Though there are disadvantageous to online workshops, John's training was very organized and used a wide variety of tools to maximize value with very few technical challenges. John was very attentive to the group and frequently touched base to ensure that the pace and language worked for non-native speakers, and that our expectations were being met. He is obviously very well read and extremely knowledgeable about Scrum, Agile, and a wide range of topics/leaders related to these frameworks. I truly enjoyed that he focused on providing us with tangible, actionable tools and resources that add immediate value, rather than purely focusing on preparing us to pass a test. We were able to cover valuable, relatable topics that weren't part of the template syllabus, and Mr. Coleman even went above and beyond to provide additional touchpoints free of charge to help us prepare for the exam. Thank you for all of your support and extra time!

I really enjoyed John's course - well-structured and with a good content.
Our PSPO I (fundamental) 2 day "journey" was a good mixture between case studies, classroom learning and group discussions /exercises. Well done, knowledge transfer up to the point!

I attended the Scrum.org PSM II workshop run by John just prior to the Covid-19 lockdown. I've attended a few workshops in the past and I can safely state that this is the best one I have attended so far. John has an extensively knowledge in the Agile ways of working and this was demonstrated in the workshop content. The workshop itself was perfectly balanced between presentation, video, activities and real workd advice. I have learned a great deal with John over the two days. In addition he has provided post-workshop support in the form of Zoom calls and readily responds to email. I wholeheartedly recommend attending one of John's courses. I hope to attend future courses run by John to help enhance my practical Agile knowledge.

I had the chance to attend John's Professional Agile Leadership training. Although it was my first experience with remote training, it was a very valuable experience, as John makes the training very efficient with his deep knowledge and pedagogy.
I have found this session to be very valuable for me. Therefore, I would definitely not hesitate to participate in another of John's sessions in the future, whether it is on line or face to face .

The content of the PAL-E course is really interesting, it adds a lot of value to the PSM training.
Also John Coleman is a great teacher. He is like a living book and loves to share his knowledge. He also provides a lot of example from his experience.

John is an inspiration. Was my first hands on training remotly and it was much better that I was expected. I loved the Lean UX canvas, it was the confirmation that I'm in the right path, on my daily work.
I hightly recommend John as a PST because of his expertise with UX, it's not everyday I find a non UX person with his mindset. It was really a great experience.

The two days PSPO course with John was an enjoyable and valuable experience. We had individual and team exercises mixed with interesting discussions, inspiring videos and practical answers on everyone's questions, coming from John's vast experience. Though the group was mixed in terms of previous experience with product ownership and business domains, everyone looked engaged during the course and pleased at the end.
