The tech is just limited without paying for services. Super slow response when adjusting temps on the thermostat that were never an issue on nest, a doorbell cam that doesn't notify when movement is sensed (unless you upgrade your subscription) this is a standard feature on a $35 wyze camera with better features over all. I think 10 years ago all of this would make sense, but today it is too easy to install and set up all of these devices and control them through Amazon or Google and get more features without monthly subscriptions. Its a newer house so ill leave everything set up for a bit, but will eventually tear all this junk out and upgrade to better devices. I will say 1 thing, their phone support guy (im convinced its only 1 guy) is a Rockstar and a diligent employee, give that dude a raise.

The battery doorbell is awful to change. First you have to buy a replacement battery that is expensive because the batteries take 7 or 8 + hours to charge. 2nd, the tiny screw you have to remove takes the tiniest screw driver, like one for eye glasses. 3rd, it's easy to drop it and you better hope you don't have grass nearby. 4th, the base is black making it particularly to see what you're doing. 5th, if you're older, you can't see well enough with readers, so it takes 2 people to hold the flashlight and magnifying glass, and to do the work. 6th, it kills your back, and worse, you're knees! I really hate it and wish I'd gone with Ring for the doorbell part of security. The batteries only last about 3 months, so that's a regular irritation, especially in winter!

I never seem to be able to get tech support to actually provide resolutions to system and camera problems. They always want to send out a technician generally resulting in a charge to me even though I have a service contract.

One of the owners came out to sell the service. I had adt and he informed me that they would pick up the cost for early termination fees and any amount that we owed on cameras. We switched to there service at a discount rate and he told us to keep ADT for 6 months and then disconnect there service. So after 6 months I disconnected ADT as informed and got a final bill as instructed. Soon as I told him the amount of the final bill he informed me that his company wouldn't approve the amount because it was more than they normally pay. He then found out that our contract was longer than normal. He then blamed me for having a longer contract told me I should have checked but when he was here he looked at the account. I ended paying out over 700 dollars of money that I wouldn't have paid if I would have left as is. I had disconnected ADT then 1 week later I had to turn around and get it reconnected. He informed me that he would pick up charges if I had to do a reconnection fee. I did have to do a reconnection fee ADT came out to switch out there panel and reconnect the sensors. Three of the sensors didn't work had to pay 65 per sensor. Once I informed the owner at Alarm.com he said he was going to disconnect there service without being penalized. We kept going back and forward with reimbursement and he sent me an text showing me that he had created a ticket for the system being disconnected and not being penalized for early termination. He also told me that if he had to pay any money out of his pocket he would because all of this was his fault. Why I received a text and he informed me that they were going to reimburse me 300 dollars. He stated that he was at least going to reimburse me for the 6 months of me being billed by ADT. I paid over $1000.00 for six months. Why I received a call from Alarm.com stating that I haven't paid my bill and they were charging me a late fee. I informed the agent that they came out and picked up the equipment and that we no longer have there service. I wouldn't recommend this company because they are full of lies. I trusted the owner Robert Derricot and he's not a man of his word.

AI and most Telecom/Internet cos are offloading this kind of service and it just does not work. It takes human interaction and sometime patience. Keep doing it this way and I will always recommend Alarm.com and my security vendor Northstar.

She guided me through the process of logging in from their website, performing a clean uninstallation of the app, and re-configuring my phone as a new device. Everything is now working perfectly. I truly appreciate her expertise and the peace of mind she helped restore. Highly recommended!

Ive never experienced such poor customer service from ANY company. I tried to contact them 4 times to get my cameras fixed and still have not heard from them???? Its like I dont exist!

We're allowed 1,000 video clips per month and after that no more until the next month. I have to shut the outside cameras off at night because they go off every time a bug flies past the cameras. It also picks up vehicle headlights of every vehicle that drives down the street. We've tried adjusting the camera and settings to not do so and then it ends up not even picking up anything. Makes it useless for security if we can't use them at night because of the 1,000 video limit! We ended up getting a ring door to pick up the slack at night because of Alarm.com being useless at night. Would not recommend.
12/31/25 - Edited to add: I have since responded back to Alarm.com request for account info. Am waiting to hear back.
1/3/26 - Edited to add: I heard promptly heard back from Alarm.com on 12/31/25 about how to possibly resolve the issues with my outdoor cameras. Once I contact my service provider to with the information and see if the issues get resolved, I will update my review again.

I wanted to start by clearing up that alarm.com is not a monitoring company. They provide a platform for 3rd party dealers to offer security solutions. In my case, I'm using Surety Home for my monitoring. I purchased the Alarm.com Honeywell SEM (Security Enhancement Module) which made it easy to integrate my existing Honeywell Vista 20P into the alarm.com platform and have it monitored and supported by Surety.
I switched over from Brinks security which used Resideo Total Connect for cellular monitoring. It felt like Brinks wasn't fully integrated as Brinks was unable to tell me which zone set off an alarm even though it shows up in Total Connect. With alarm.com, everything syncs up and feels like a unified experience. Also, there's less latency with interacting with my panel through the app. For example, remotely arming/disarming is much quicker through alarm.com than it was with TotalConnect.
The one thing that I do miss that TotalConnect has and alarm.com does not is the ability to emulate a keypad on the mobile app. In TotalConnect, I could see a virtual security panel that showed the status as well as the numeric keys.
I have not tried any of the other features such as video cameras as I already have cameras so I can't comment on that. However, with the cellular security monitoring, I have been happy with my experience.

Why the one star? because it doesn't allow me to give zero.
They told me to purchase a new doorbell because my current one with no subscription fee stopped working. I went out and paid $180 for and Alarm.com (Skybell) camera and now that it's installed, they tell me i have to pay 20/month.

Terrible!!! Do not use this company, especially if you are an Ohio resident as they do not have a technician in the state. The management is very poor. They will tell you specific times they will call you and never follow up. Never ever trust this company!!!

I paid somewhere between 4k and 5k for the system. The alarm is going off right now as a window was opened. Were they able to call the police? no. Its ok, ill do the thing I pay yall for, I guess.

This company pisses me off soon much. The cameras literally dont work, I have about 7 cameras and 2/7 work. The others load for 3 minutes then either say "timed out" or "there was a problem connecting". Now it would be common sense to think its a connection issue, but it isnt, the company sent a dude to fix it well over 10 times. Not only that, theyre trying to charge us when their cameras arent working?? We even bought internet boosters and placed them around the cameras. I also have never had a connection issue and have 900mb internet so
