Don't expect them to fulfil their quality guarantee
Purchased our sofas from Alstons through a local department store in 2019 with the confidence that 'Alstons furniture comes with a strong 10-year guarantee on structural frames and cold-cured foam seat cushion interiors'. How naive we were thinking that a British company would actually uphold their guarantee.
We went back to our retailer who contacted Alstons for us (they won't deal direct with end user) and they arranged to send a technician to inspect the sofas. Having had previous experience of the technician company (Castellan) I wasn't too hopeful but we made the appointment for him to visit.
Whilst onsite the technician agreed that the cushions were not how they should be and all needed replacing, having read previous reviews are double checked that his report would say that they would need to replace both the seat and back cushions to which he agreed.
Well a week on surprise surprise Alstons seem to have come back with their standard response of nothing to be done - as it should be for the age. Well when compared to the other sofa that we have which is the same age the cushions on this particular sofa have clearly failed and are not performing the same.
An unsurprising but disappointing outcome - especially as the technician that came was over 2 hours late.
Don't waste your money trying to support a British business and expecting a better quality product - just stick to the cheaper shed like furniture stores and end up with the same quality/life expectancy but at a cheaper price.
