Apollo Caster has been a lifesaver for me! I had to replace the base of my heavy marble formal dining table, as the weight of the tabletop caused the marble table base to start crumbling after 35 years. I finally located a beautiful and strong wrought iron table base replacement. Unfortunately, the new table was too high by a couple of inches – a major defect that made seating uncomfortable for me (I am 5’ 10”) and worse for shorter adults and children. Unfortunately, my metal chair legs had an unusual opening of 1 and 1/8 inches, making leg extenders hard to find as the standard seems to be 1 inch. I searched the web until it made me cross-eyed trying to find chair leg extensions that would work, and came up with nothing - until I found Apollo. They had a “grip ring” socket for square tubing that had what I would describe as a two-layer “step pyramid” base below an umbrella-shaped top that collapses to create a secure fit for a range of tubing sizes. I called Apollo’s excellent customer service to verify the dimensions, and the person there went back to the bins and actually used “calipers” instead of eyeballing the unit using a ruler. I received exact precise measurements. These sockets are utterly ingenious. While tapping these into the chair legs, they inevitably twist so as to not to be squared with the leg. However, as you near the end of the tube, the socket's design automatically rotates to a perfectly aligned fit! My problem was solved by adding 2-inch ball casters to these sockets, which is perfect for a carpeted dining room. I cannot praise Apollo Caster enough in every facet of their products and service.
