The Axis M-3085V should be discontinued or redesigned. It does NOT accept any brand of any patch whatsoever. There is literally no force of nature that will cause a patch cable to lock into the port, period, full stop, end of story. The people who decided this camera should be put to market should lose their jobs and be forced to compensate every tech who struggled at the top of a ladder, hemorrhaging labor hours, just to plug in this absolute abomination of a camera. I’m an hour deep and 6 different brands of patch cables down. What an absolute shit show Axis communications must be to allow this garbage to be sold. I sincerely hope the parties responsible suffer endlessly for all time.

I en tid hvor vi alle bør tage ansvar for planetens ressourcer, vælger Axis Communications den modsatte vej. Som ejer af 10 perfekt fungerende Axis-kameraer fra 2015 står jeg nu i den absurde situation, at mine fuldt funktionsdygtige kameraer kunstigt er blevet gjort ubrugelige til deres primære formål.
Problemet
Axis Communications har besluttet at fjerne muligheden for fjernvejsadgang til ældre kameramodeller. Kameraerne virker stadig teknisk perfekt - linser, sensorer, hardware, alt fungerer upåklagelig. Men gennem en ren software-beslutning har Axis gjort dem næsten værdiløse for de fleste brugere. Budskabet er klart: Køb nye kameraer.
Miljøkonsekvenserne
Dette er planlagt forældelse i sin mest gennemsigtige form, og konsekvenserne er alvorlige:
Elektronisk affald: 10 fuldt funktionelle kameraer skal nu potentielt skrottes og erstattes. Multiplicer dette med tusindvis af kunder globalt, og vi taler om tons af unødvendigt e-affald.
Ressourcespild: Produktionen af nye kameraer kræver sjældne jordarter, energi til fremstilling, transport og emballage. Alt dette er fuldstændig unødvendigt når eksisterende produkter fungerer fint.
CO2-aftryk: Fra udvinding af råmaterialer over produktion til global distribution - det samlede CO2-aftryk for at erstatte millioner af funktionsdygtige kameraer er enormt.
En forretningsmodel fra fortiden
I en tid hvor EU arbejder med "ret til reparation"-lovgivning, hvor cirkulær økonomi er nøgleordet, og hvor bæredygtighed burde være en kerneværdi, vælger Axis Communications at praktisere forretningsmodeller fra forrige århundrede.
Der er ingen teknisk grund til at fjerne fjernvejsadgang. Det er ikke fordi kameraerne ikke kan køre den nødvendige software - det er fordi Axis har valgt ikke at supportere dem. Dette er et aktivt valg om at skabe kunstig forældelse.
Hvad virksomheder burde gøre i stedet
Tilbyde software-opdateringer der holder ældre hardware funktionel
Give brugere mulighed for at fortsætte med basale funktioner, selvom avancerede features kun er tilgængelige på nye modeller
Være transparente om produkters forventede supportlevetid VED KØB
Bidrage positivt til den cirkulære økonomi i stedet for at modarbejde den
Konklusion
Axis Communications leverer teknisk set gode produkter - mine kameraer har fungeret fejlfrit i 10 år. Men virksomhedens praksis med at tvinge unødvendige opgraderinger gennem software-begrænsninger er miljømæssigt uansvarlig og forbrugerfjendsk.
I en tid hvor hver virksomhed praler af deres bæredygtighedsrapporter og grønne initiativer, taler handlinger højere end ord. Axis Communications vælger profit over planet, og det fortjener at blive kritiseret.

Gode produkter, men en forretningspraksis der hører det 20. århundrede til og aktivt skader miljøet gennem kunstig forældelse.
Brand new system and there is 3-20 second live view freezing on the S2208 connected to a Q6315 via 100m fiber, recordings look fine. Its been over a month and no help from tech support. System is unusable.
Good cameras but poor support as they don't reply to tech support questions.
My experience with Axis products has unfortunately been a very bad one. I chose the company because I thought it was a professional company. Well, I were wrong!
In the beginning with synny days and no wind, the products were really good, but the product is not working when there is a little windy or it is or has been raining due to design flaw, but the only thing i were told by support were this is an exposed area try to cover it with a weather house. The camera is working perfectly hence 2 stars instead of 1.
I contacted support, but they didn't deal with the problem, they just told me that:
"I have discussed with our product specialist and the I8016-LVE intercom placement is very exposed to the wind and water at this specific site.
Would recommend to add something similar for the intercom as well.
When it comes to the audio level, increasing the gain will lift the voice, but as you know it will also raise the noise from the wind.
If raising the input gain (more than current 12dB), the noise cancellation might help more, but it will cut off some part of the wind/voice as well."
The quality of the support and the intercom has a lot of potential for improvement and I would not recomend to buy anything from Axis if they do not change the way their customer support works.
My experience with Axis products has unfortunately been a very bad one. A few years ago I bought a couple of Axis cameras. I chose the company because I thought it was a professional company. Well, I was wrong!
In the beginning, the products were really good, but before the warranty expired, the products simply broke. They had to be sent back and repaired. No problem as far as it was during the warranty. Shortly after the warranty expired, the same problem happened. So we had to send them back and have them repaired. The cameras worked more or less well for a year. They failed more and more often and then now, after about a year, the same problem as always.
I contacted support, but they didn't deal with the problem at all, they just told me that I had to have it repaired and that that is a big investment. The prices for a repair are so high that I could get two new cameras from another company. The quality of the support and the cameras definitely has a lot of potential for improvement and I would never buy anything from Axis again and would not recommend it to anyone!
