It was seamless!

It was seamless. Backstage has been an excellent source of gigs for me. Casting is casting, so you win some and you lose some, but when it fits it works! The payment process is simple. You have to be ready for impromptu opportunities, but it has been a great experience, working with and meeting great people, and getting paid for it! Backstage works.

I did not get paid

I did not get paid, Backstage got paid and is holding my money for two days. Production paid Backstage yesterday, but Backstage tells me the money will not be available until tomorrow. So I’m not sure who got told I got paid, because I just checked, and I have not gotten paid.

If I could put no stars I would. They took money from my account for an entire year despite my contacting to say I didn’t want a subscription with them after a free trial. I didn’t use their services as I didn’t know the subscription had continued after no notifications or emails what so ever I did not know it would continue to take money from my account, they refused to cancel it despite my saying I couldn’t find the button to end the subscription on the website and I lost money for an entire year. They refused to refund me for this membership I did not use. They are fraudulent and they are theives - any decent company would just cancel the subscription and refund you the month you didn’t know you had it,

As we discussed privately via email regarding your 2024 Trustpilot review, unfortunately, you are not eligible for a refund.

You purchased a monthly subscription in November 2023 and did not self-cancel or contact our support team until 4 months after your subscription renewed in February 2024. Monthly subscriptions are nonrefundable per our Terms of Service. As we discussed privately, you agreed to these Terms of Service when you initially subscribed. We also sent you an email shortly after you subscribed, which detailed which type of subscription you purchased, along with information about your next renewal date and the amount you would be billed, and detailed instructions on how to cancel if you do not wish to continue using your subscription. You were not billed for an entire year, and you did not purchase a free trial.

While we understand it is frustrating when you are denied a refund after forgetting to cancel a subscription service, it is also not fair to inaccurately represent your experience with our service as retaliation. All customers have the option to self-cancel via their Account Settings at any time during their subscription period, and if you are experiencing a technical glitch attempting to cancel, you are able to contact our support team for direct assistance.

Unfortunately, our decision is final. We wish you the best of luck with your acting career and hope this clarifies any remaining confusion regarding our decision.

Still waiting for customer service to get in touch

Still waiting for customer service to get back to me after 4 days trying to get in contact with them. No phone numbers or emails available hence can't reach out directly. I want to cancel my annual subscription within the 30 day period and no one is helping me out.

Costumer service is non existing

Costumer service is non existing. They say i will talk to an ai service, then the ai service tells me someboy will answer. And then nothing happens, when i ask for an email or phone number, there is no answer. It is a scam.

Banned from posting a job and got our…

Banned from posting a job and got our account closed without any explanation. Was looking to cast a host for our commercial, followed all the rules and paid for the listing. They took our money and stopped replying. Very sketchy company, will not be returning.

Scam website, doesn't notify you when charging and then charged me for an annual membership and now is completely airing. I've been trying desperately to get in touch with CS because it's money I do not have, and they are not responding.

Customer service sucks PERIOD

Customer service sucks PERIOD. I told them about 2 casting agents 1 who wanted money for you to be considered, the other asking you to sign a waiver before any job is given or pay, I gave them screen shoots, amd got nothing but a blane game saying I didn't send her aka LANZ customer service enough info, and balmed me. Dont waste your money, amd if you are mic race good luck very small amount of jobs for you, and casting agents really only want to cast people in there own state or city. I even offered to fly myself out and put myself up in a hotel, just so I can get more experience and build my resume.. NOPE . GOOD LUCK. Find an agent

Not worth the money.

I used to actually like Backstage, but they've really become a crap company.

In 2020, I wanted to pursue a career in professional voice acting. Backstage had tons of options that were good for an at-home studio like my own. But the jobs were never many, if any at all. And then jobs started posting for you to sell your voice for AI properties. Which is a SUPER RED FLAG.

Like a lot of folks have said, it's only a good platform if you live in L.A. Period. There is little to no jobs for people who work remote or in other states. You could be the best actor in all of Kansas, but they will not hire you because you can't bus in for the audition.

Plus, their customer service reps are shit. I'm in the midst of trying to get my money back from them because 1) they did not notify me of the renewal fee and 2) I haven't been active on the site in like 2 years.

Don't use Backstage.

Email harassment 101

I am not sure how I ended up on their mailing list. However, I have chosen unsubscribe 20 times and they still keep sending me, what appears to be, crappy jobs.

Subscription scamming

They automatically renewed your membership amd don't allow to cancel its renewal! It then put me through to an ai chatbot which didn't help at all, there no email listed on the site. I had to go deep diving through forums to find an email. Aswell my plan was a 60 aud plan and they renewed it for 175 aud. And again once they refunded it they only returned 170 aud. Absolute scammers

Please note that you were refunded your full payment of £84.99 (billed in GBP, not AUD). I am not seeing that you contacted our team stating any discrepancy with your refund. In the future, please email our support team directly at customers@backstage.com if there is any confusion about your account.

The “verification specialist” Kevin just suspended my account for a normal UGC campaign. Got no refund for the job listing OR the subscription I got wrongfully tricked in.

Talent is not bad, but the support is a joke.

They'll Charge You To Browse Jobs

They advertised jobs, but you have to sign up to pay for access to even get to the listings. I'm not playing a game of 'I wonder if that job is real' while I pay $15/month. I tried to unsubscribe, but I keep getting emails and notices. This company has SCAM written all over it.

I recently signed up with backstage on…

I recently signed up with backstage on behalf of my granddaughter. I received a text from a gentleman who claims he was from a famous photography company and they were doing a huge photo shoot for six models for Puma / Amazon. He said he was going to mail a check for me to cover the cost for the hair stylist and other things. He stated that he got my information from backstage. Two days later, I got a check in the mail that was for 5,000. He claims he was only going to send a small amount to cover the above charges. I knew this was a scam. However, I am very naive in this business. I called backstage and gave them the circumstances. I received an email from Stephanie who not only said this was a scam but also gave me some really excellent pointers on what to watch out for with photographers who right now are big in the scamming business. Especially for models. I'm sure a lot of you are not naive in this business but I wanted to reach out to backstage and especially to Stephanie, not only for the quick response but for an in-depth email on some pointers on what to look out for. Stephanie thank you, on behalf of my 5-year-old granddaughter. Stephanie is definitely a keeper.

Hit and miss...

Honestly there are positives and negatives. They're easy to use, don't cost the inordinate amount like VDC of V123 but the last year that has gone by they post a lot less work for voice actors and actors. They should vet more.

Once you give them your email address, you will never get off of it. They continously send you junk mail, even after repeated requests that they stop.
