Had a dishwasher which kept leaking

Had a dishwasher which kept leaking , rang Baldwins asking for a price to supply and fit replacement as I thought it was beyond repair

Baldwins gave me a good price and came round to fit but asked if I wanted them to look at my old one first which i agreed as he said of he couldn’t fix it it wouldn’t cost a penny.
seems the issue was a button in the drain hose which once removed fixed the issue meaning I didn’t need to spend £400 on a new machine , they didn’t charge me for the machine I ordered just a call out charge to fix which I was grateful for.

They could have just fitted a new one and took the easy money but instead fixed my old unit which took much longer

This is my 3rd time of using Baldwin…

This is my 3rd time of using Baldwin domestic appliances. I received a quote promptly for the cooker hobb I needed replacing. The hobb and fitting was a competitive price and for me knowing they have done work before I could rely on good job. I am pleased with the quickness and efficiency of the service they provided. Would definitely recommend them.

Highly Recommend

I can highly recommend Baldwins. After previously being let down by another company, Baldwins were recommended to me and their service was faultless. They went above and beyond. They were extremely helpful and very informative, great communication and very professional. It was a very positive experience and I would highly recommend.

My 89 year old mother has a new…

My 89 year old mother has a new dishwasher installed. It was not put in level. Having just suffered a family bereavement, the wonky dishwasher was not top of her list. When Baldwins were approached to ask if they would kindly return to correct their installation, we were told that it should have been reported earlier and it would cost £75 for them to come back. This is so typical of the current attitude of many in this country. Just take the money and run. Yet another example of people not willing to take responsibility. Seriously consider options if you are intending to use Baldwins!

We are sorry to read your comments and sympathise with your mother’s circumstances.
The dishwasher was installed on 15 August 2025, and no concerns were raised with us at the time of installation or at any point in the six months that followed. We were only contacted recently, after the manufacturer had already attended using their own contractor.
As we were not present during that visit, we requested a copy of the contractor’s report and clarification of the specific issue identified, including whether the appliance had been moved or adjusted. This information has not been provided.
Given the significant time elapsed since installation and the involvement of a third party, advising that a revisit would be chargeable is both standard and reasonable. We have not refused assistance and remain willing to review any formal report so the matter can be assessed properly.
We strongly refute the suggestion that we “take the money and run.” We take pride in our workmanship and in supporting our customers, and we always address genuine installation concerns when they are reported appropriately and supported by the relevant information.

V5 BDA WAS PARKED ON THE PAVEMENT IN LYNE ROAD, KIDLINGTON, OXON AT 3.30PM. I AM A MOBILITY SCOOTER USER AND WAS UNABLE TO GET BY AS THIS VEHICLE WAS BLOCKING THE PAVEMENT. THE PAVEMENT IS FOR PEDESTRIANS AND NOT FOR VEHICLES. PLEASE CAN YOU BE MORE CONSIDERATE IN THE FUTURE AND THINK ABOUT SOMEONE WHO IS DISABLED AND WAS LATE TO GET TO AN APPOINTMENT. YOUR ACTIONS ARE VERY SELFISH INDEED!! WHAT IF THIS HAPPENED TO YOUR ELDERLY RELATIVE, YOU WOULDN'T THINK IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO PREVENT SOMEONE WHO IS LESS ABLED THAN YOURSELF.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are sorry to hear that the vehicle’s positioning caused you difficulty.
Our team was delivering heavy laundry equipment to a private residence with no available off-road parking, and the vehicle was positioned with safety in mind to avoid obstructing passing traffic on a bend. Deliveries of this nature sometimes require careful judgement to balance road safety, traffic flow, and access.
We fully appreciate how important clear pavement access is, particularly for mobility scooter and wheelchair users, and we always instruct our drivers to minimise obstruction wherever possible and for the shortest time necessary.
We will remind our team to remain mindful of pedestrian access in all situations, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused on this occasion.

Abusive dangerous driving

One of their vans was driving dangerously down a narrow lane (not road) towards 7 children and when we asked him to slow down he stopped and was abusive and threatening. Driver said he was the owner but i dont know if true (may have been because i said i was going to make a complaint). Reported to 101

Our vehicle was travelling slowly and cautiously along the road, and at all times with due care and attention to those present. The safety of pedestrians, children, and other road users is of paramount importance to us, and our drivers are instructed to operate responsibly and respectfully at all times.
We are not aware of any abusive or threatening behaviour by our staff, and no formal complaint or investigation outcome has been shared with us.

Unhelpful

Telephoned to make some enquires about a dishwasher, the person I spoke to was not particularly helpful and just kept saying it depends what model you want there's hundreds. He had no interest in trying to help me decide even though I had narrowed it down to a make. Also Baldwins online catalogue is not active this would be helpful when looking. I also looked last year when I was buying a washing machine and it was not active them. I like to shop local if I can but when retailers are not helpful it's easier to go elsewhere.

They charges for what should be a free estimate

Baldwin appliance charges you even for something that should be a free evaluation. I payed £90 in advance to get an AEG wash-dryer fixed. The technician came (very late) and said he could not repair it because they do not repair heat pump dryer and also that the machine is manufactured in Germany and they do not have access to spare parts. I asked for a refund and initially they denied it and then I got £45 back. The customer service is somehow unpolite. So indeed it is like a lottery: if they can fix it, good for you, if they do not want or cannot to fix it, you loose the money.

Thank you for your feedback.
For clarity, we do repair heat pump washer-dryers and are able to obtain parts for many models. The £90 paid was our standard diagnostic call-out and inspection fee, which covers the engineer’s time, travel, and professional assessment of the appliance. This charge applies whether or not a repair proceeds, as is standard practice within the industry.
Following inspection of your specific model, we were unable to proceed with a repair. This was not due to a blanket refusal to repair heat pump appliances, but due to the circumstances relating to that particular machine.
Although the diagnostic visit had been completed, we issued a partial refund as a gesture of goodwill.
We do not operate on a “lottery” basis. Our aim is always to assess appliances accurately and provide transparent advice so customers can make an informed decision.
