We took our two young grandsons to the Christmas grotto at Hornsea Garden Centre yesterday and it was amazing, we were in nearly an hour and occupied the whole time. The staff were so well organised and friendly, they went the extra mile to make it special. It's not cheap but it was worth every penny. This is not simply a visit to Santa It's much much more.

What a nightmare placed a order online, there was a problem when the confirmation came back ,
Sent a email that should have been answered within 24 hours so after 2 days which net happened so I phoned up customer service and was promised to rectify the issue and send a confirmation that it had been done (never done ).
I phoned back next day told that the item had been dispatched and forwarded the tracking and told it was coming by dpd next day delivery , never turned up , so I phoned up again and spoke to customer service and she spoke to her manager who told me that they would investigate what had gone wrong and promised compensation for all their failings .
I was then put to the warehouse manager who Informed me that it was still there awaiting DHL to pick this up , so the tracking was all wrong , also promised he would get customer service to compensate me .
None of these promises have been honoured full of empty promises .

Business must be good!
I wanted to buy a reasonable amount of mature hedging from your WIMBORNE centre so phoned for a price. No answer (mid afternoon) but kept getting returned to 'reception' So, I emailed them 3 days ago to say 'please give me a call' Have they bothered? Like hell they have. Never mind, there is a much larger competitor just down the road and loads of online options. Good luck guys
Update: Don't worry guys, you've missed the boat! Now and forever.

Hi just a quick review for British garden centre restaurant at hitchen . Firstly the restaurant has been beautifully refurbished .but very busy really not enough staff . Upon being seated we were told our food would come soon. Not the case and when it arrived it was cold .had to have to be reheated not impressed . I feel a little more effort and more staff would be beneficial . For the money not Impressed and would not return.

Parking jobs worth attendant needs his P45. Visited today with our 3 month old grandson who was crying wanting feeding. Parking was hard to find as it was busy. A spot came available, but the jobs worth wouldn’t let us go in it as we were holding up the queue. Even though he could hear the baby crying, he refused to let us. He was rude and arrogant. Just a shame I didn’t get his name.

We had an amazing Christmas lunch on the 27th of October 2025 at The Osterley Garden Centre, Windmill Ln, Osterley, Isleworth TW7 5PR
The service was excellent and we are very grareful to Rob (head chef) and staff manager Julie. Rob and Julie were very courteous, attentive, efficient, pleasant, hospitable, friendly, professional and made us feel very special. The food was of. very high quality, it was delicious, tasty and hot. We truly appreciate all the hard work provided by Rob and Julie. Thank you

Poor quality food served slowly. Garden Centre had been taken over by Christmas Frenzy. Very disappointed with our visit today, firstly let down by the restaurant that took an age (40min) to bring our order to the table, an overcooked burger with plastic bacon, a baked potato topped with prawns and salmon with a watery sauce more akin to water and a portion of cheesy chips (minus the cheese). We were even a drink short. The staff were poorly trained and were definitely not attentive, time to give it up as you guys definitely can't make the grade.
The restaurant is somewhere that needs to be avoided.
The garden centre had been converted into a 'Christmas shoppers delight' which had a detrimental affect on the normal garden experience for a building of this size.

We went today and it was brilliant & good service. It was very busy which shows it’s popular. All the staff working very hard. Delivering the drinks and food. We sat in the restaurant area and not the dog area which was good. We got our Sunday Carvery and it was amazing. The 3 of us really liked it and everything tasted so good. We got our drinks before the food too. Will came round to ask us if we enjoyed our food which was a nice touch. It was only his 3rd shift and he was working really hard like everyone else. The Duty Manager Lee was also helping delivering and clearing up food. He spoke to us and was very friendly & great to speak to the Manager. He said they are trying their best to deliver the drinks quickly and food too. I said they are doing a great and it was all 10/10. Everything was very clean & the food was great. We were all very pleased & look forward to going again. Thanks Jamie

My daughter, Sister-in-law and I went to Brigg garden centre for lunch today. The restaurant was very busy so for health reasons we decided to sit in the dog area as it was quieter despite not having our dogs with us. We went into the dog area and a was approached by a rude waitress who told us we had to go and queue at the main entrance. We apologised and joined the queue. The young lady seating people was very polite and said yes it would not be a problem as there was lots of spare tables. We found a table and sat down when the same rude waitress then asked “ do you have a dog” despite the fact that several other tables didn’t have dogs with them. We explained that we had asked to sit there for health reasons as the main restaurant was crowded and busy. We have no idea why she found us so offensive and felt the need to keep chastising us. After a very long wait for food only one meal appeared. After waiting another 10 minutes we asked a waitress if she could check on our missing food. She never came back. After another 10 minutes we asked a different waitress who eventually came with our remaining meals. The Tuna sandwich was disgusting. The bread was dry and curling at the edges, it had a tiny amount of tuna in the middle of the bread only and mixed leaves in it that we asked to be not put in. The chips were lukewarm warm. I refused the meal and asked for a refund. A manager came over and was very rude, she said “what’s the matter” I explained to her my reasons so she offered to remake the meal. I refused this as it was taking forever and I needed to get home to my elderly Mother. She snatched the meal away and stomped off with no apology. A while later a very nice lady came over to our table with the refund and couldn’t apologise enough for the poor quality of food, long wait and rude unpleasant members of staff. The other meals were of poor quality and badly cooked, they were not enjoyable. It was a most unpleasant experience and one I will not be repeating in a hurry. Staff need serious customer service training as they have no idea how to deal with the general public, especially when working in hospitality.

Visited Chilton Garden Centre, near Didcot today and unfortunately had a very poor experience in the restaurant. We ordered six meals — the soup arrived cold, one meal was not what was ordered and was returned, and another was a cold, tasteless panini. The restaurant manager did refund three meals, which we appreciated, but half the family went hungry. Very disappointing after travelling 35 minutes to get there. Definitely not the standard we expected. We noted other guests requesting refunds for cold food too. Service was very very slow too!

Visited today to pick up manure, seed compost and other items spent a reasonable amount of money.Staff where miserable paticularly at the till,no customer skills no eye contact treated as if we were paticularly invisible, the person was monosyllabic and we felt as if we were an inconvenience, we have used this garden centre for many years before the change over our visit was very disappointing.

Recently changed from Dobbies in Gloucester . I found this garden centre well stocked and good value. My only criticism is that you are forced to follow a set route into the garden centre. Annoying.

AWFUL experience at Wakefield Carr Gate resteraunt. Literally selling sunday cavery with meats missing,no stuffing, undercooked veg (most of it) no cauli cheese and no roast potatoes - offering people chips instead!(without telling people before they paid non of this was unavaliable!). They also ran out of milk. Contacted customer services via webform- manager of the cafe contacted me via own personal mobile phone?? Then never called back when said they would.
I Then emailed back: enquiries @britishgardencentres.com as noone answers their phone lines! And its been 3 weeks with no reply... shocking customer service.
Avoid!

We visited the British Garden Centre in Gosforth for breakfast, found our table and then went to the counter and placed our order, we ordered the Big Breakfast x 2 (one without bacon) ordered at 10:16 a.m we were then given our tea and coffee which we took back to our table and waited and waited and waited for our food, by this time we had finished our tea and coffee as they were starting to go cold, 29 minutes later our breakfasts arrived eggs hard and broken and it had bacon on, So I asked the member of staff to take it away to remove the bacon and change my eggs she didn't look very happy with my request but did it anyway, I then waited another 10 minutes for mine to come back the eggs were soft but a little greasy and no bacon, I was so hungry by this time I had to eat it, it was also supposed to come with sourdough toast it was bloomer toast that was so hard and dried out i couldn't eat it all. So if your thinking of visiting for breakfast don't be in a hurry or maybe go elsewhere.

Lots of positives about this company, though I find it funny that many of the reviews are about the cafe ! Lack of staff training is apparent in all departments which is a shame because the majority are lovely and might enjoy being better able to assist customers and colleagues

I have been visiting my local British Garden Centre in Crews Hill for many years, but am constantly disappointed with their customer service. Each time I visit, the staff seem so unhappy and are so unhelpful. On my recent visit, I asked a question at the till point, with the response being ‘I don’t know’. That’s it! No eye contact, no politeness, just a very uninterested person serving. It wasn’t a busy time of day, and I had just finished my shift from work. Would it be so difficult if the staff showed some interest. The management need to take a look at Sunshine Garden Centre in Muswell Hill to see how it could be done.

Afternoon tea at Gloucester with friends. The sandwiches were fresh with lots of fillings .They catered to our requests for butter and a fruit scone .The staff were lovely .Nothing was too much trouble .The manager came over to see if we were happy .The cakes were beautiful ,unlike any we’d ever had at an afternoon tea .The scones were so fresh and the best we’ve ever tasted .We were so full they gave us boxes to take some food home .Cannot recommend highly enough We have already booked our festive afternoon tea .
