I went into Bunnings Manukau with some scellerup gumboots and was immediately told that Bunnings doesn’t warranty gumboots!
Luckily for me I knew that Scellerup gumboots had a 12 month warranty!!
I said I wanted to see the manager who after numerous requests to come to the front counter but never turned up!!
It was until I googled warranty for scellerup gumboots that they finally exchanged the split gumboots!
I get the impression that Bunnings trains their staff to find excuses not to honour warranties!!

This is a RAVE review to the staff at Bunnings Mt Roskill. I returned my Ryobi lawnmower which has failed to start. They were so lovely and friendly and helpful. I now have a brand new lawnmower and can't be happier.

I went to the outdoor garden department and the lady had gone for lunch. There was no one who could help me. A man down the back of the department knew nothing about plants, didn't know what a feijoia was. When I went to check out, the self check out was closed. Only one person on the check out. Bunnings seems to be getting worse each time I go. Mitre 10 service beats them hands down.

Bunnings is the place where your guilty till proven innocent. Where they want to search your car just in case you stole something. Where they use facial recognition for so called safety. Today I brought 2 sheets of ply and loaded them on my trailer all in front of their gate boy. I talked to him and showed what ply I got and got him to send the docket through to checkout. I went and paid for it and returned to the gate boy and showed my receipt to which he wanted to have another look at the trailer. Thats fine, then I get told , I want to look in the ute. I let him look as I had nothing to hide. Although mildly pissed off as he'd witnessed my movements. Then i went and spoke to the manager to which I was told its company policy to search people's cars. Now I've been shopping at bunnings for 20 odd years and have literally spent tens of thousands of dollars each year. I dont like feeling like a criminal when I havnt done anything wrong. I won't be back ever again. I urge everyone to shop elsewhere. Treated as a theif until you prove your innocence with a search.... no thankyou

Have given Bunnings (Hamilton South) one star because I can't give no stars! Customer service woefully inadequate and appalling (for the second time). Called to enquire after a replacement part for a mitre saw. Guy I spoke to insisted I had to go in to the store in person to pay for the part BEFORE it could be ordered and provided it was still available. I suggested it would be more productive to for them to just check if the part was available and, if it was, I would pay in full for it and if it was not then we could both move on. BUT the guy was insistent that they couldn't even check availability without the part being paid for up front! I saw little point in travelling a long way to pay for an item that might not be available. We went round in circles for some time debating the relative merits of my suggestion but without sense prevailing and without him confirming that I would get my money refunded if paid up front, how long that would take and if I had to go in personally again to get that sorted frustration won and I knocked the unhelpful and ridiculous exchange on the head. That's 15 minutes of my life I will never get back......USE MITRE 10!

Bunnings Mt Roskill on the busiest day of the week, Sunday 24 May 2026.
No self service aisles open, long queue at the service desk for checkout, the single staff member on duty there abandons his post and disappears without explanation. Request to other staff to put more checkout people on at service desk ignored.
Also absence of any staff in the aisles to help customers.
I will be going to Mitre 10 from now on, and I previously spent a lot at Bunnings

Ordered products through click and collect and my son went to collect. Bunnings refused to give the goods saying that their systems had flagged fraud. So I have paid $400 for products which Bunnings refuse to deliver. After long waits to talk to customer services, I keep getting told that it is someone elses issue.
What a mickey mouse outfit. I will not use this facility again and advise all others not too!

Today I shopped at Bunnings in Shirley, CHCH, NZ . At first I had trouble finding what I wanted and there did not appear to be any staff about to help. But I did find a kind gentleman -staff - who took me to the location of the product. He carried it to the checkout, put it through for me and then carried it to my car (2 x 5L) spray which is quite heavy. I have severe Osteo so I really appreciated his help. The biggest plus was the extremely competitive pricing $41.99 each at rival hardware store but $29.88 at Bunnings. I usually shop at the rival company - out of habit but will now be shopping at Bunnings Shirley for all my home needs. Thank you

This was my 3-star survey response to Bunnings but they would not publish it because "it did not meet all of their review guidelines". I'll let you decide: Strong, solid plastic, very smooth and tactile. Good depth. Remains to be seen how long they will last outside but we are hopeful. We had to get them delivered and delivery cost was exorbitant (even before the latest escalating fuel costs). Bunnings does not like car-less customers. If you don't have to pay for delivery then these might be reasonable value.

Have been accused multiple times by the store undercover coverts as they have said i was shop lifting and been tresspassed i got searched and found nothing got told it was just from the riccarton bunnings and can still shop at Shirley and the airport to then be kicked out of Shirley and told i can't got to any stores. I had a $350 voucher i was going to use but when went to show them they didn't want to know about it. Went to then grab me which there not allowed to and no reply back when trying to sort this issue out

I traveled a good distance to the Westgate store to purchase a replacement waterblaster gun assembly. The female staff member filling the shelves refused to allow me to open the box in order to check that the hose fitting was correct for my needs. She took the box from me and placed it back on the hook.Her manner and lack of help was appalling. This is not a customer focused person. You have lost my future custom and those who I will inform hopefully.

Bunnings checkout is woeful. How hard is it for u guys to get the basics right. Im done. Mitre 10 forever!!

Absolute incompetents, not one person helped me. Trying to learn how to fit a gas bottle. Just left the place employees outside chatting. Worst bunnings ever.
Go to caringbah if u need too. Miss this place

Bunnings mount maunganui great, as for Bunnings Tauranga, too small, awkward lay out, boring store, worth the trip, to the mount.

Bunnings Takanini today I visited the store looking for a fold up trolley. Customer service in the aisles is very poor. I had to go and search for someone to help me and when I did find somebody they didn't know anything about the product. Check out is poor. Self service was closed, there was only one check out operator who was busy helping someone with their query. Others interrupt as you are about to be served - check out operator tends to the interruption. No apology. The store has no discount or reward system such as Airpoints. That is why I shop at Mitre 10 Takanini. Their service is A1. They offer Airpoints and have several staff who are never too busy to help, in fact they go the extra mile. The staff are also quite knowledgeable. Mitre 10's checkout systems are far better too. Its a pity they didn't stock the product I wanted this time around but they do stock most items I have wanted; you couldn't find a better store. Bunnings, your television ads may look good, but they are very misleading. You really need to step up on the things I have listed as your competition is miles better.

Wanted a fitting for the toilet seat. Approached staff for help but they didn't really seem to know what I was talking about, even though it was a basic part. They wouldn't walk a few feet so I could show them exactly on a demo toilet what I was looking for. Left store and went to Mitre 10 where I received great help from someone who knew what I was looking for. Bought part from them, job now done.

The tap display is chaotic. No staff will help the customers,they pretend to not see you and run in the opposite direction in case you need help. You have to find a step stool and climb it yourself. Stock is all over the place in a shambles and not where it should be. Wrong taps in the boxes. The website is an absolute joke and takes ages to load.

Dissapointed with my experience at Bunnings Kahikatea Drive today. Asked a girl working there for help finding where the nails where, was ignored twice, then politely said excuse me, can you help me and just got a passive aggresive get lost reaction. Also, spent about 10 minutes looking up and down in the paint section while around 5 employees sat around ignoring me.

Shame shame shame on Bunnings, after putting all the good harward stores out of business, Bunnings provide terrible service badly stocked, advertised articles not available and don't go near their 3rd party purchases as Bunnings take no responsibility.
