SCAMMER, AVOID!
I can't believe I sent this company money. I am now commencing a legal battle with them. Awful.

It is not the same door as advertised on the website picture and they replied saying Phillip will look in to it and all he does is gives you a 1 second missed call and when you call him back he is still waiting for something. I would say the product and customer service is very low, will never use them again.

I won't go into the full details as a) it would take too long and b) I told Kevin that if he paid me back, I would not leave a review.

But, the public need protecting. We had a horrific experience with Kevin, he ruined our build and caused immense stress that I don't think he truly understands.

At one point he owed us 30K. Now, he has Paid that back over 7 months, but it's been very stressful. Judging from other reviews, he has clearly lost control of his business. Please beware and use a more professional outfit.

We made the mistake of using Kevin – he was utterly charming, really great at communicating and really helpful. And the price was so great compared to any competitors. It felt like a no brainer.

Then we paid him, and basically never heard from him again – apart from a few excuses designed to pull at our heart strings, and eventually becoming angry when we questioned his integrity – and suffice to say the doors never arrived. At one point he even used an excuse of "I can't fit your doors because I can't pick them up from the factory because I don't have the cash because I have just found out that the people before you have requested their money back from Amex because I haven't fitted their doors." We were so desperate, as it was causing as an expensive and stressful delay to our build, that we offered to pay the factory directly in cash so we could pick up our doors. He didn't respond to that offer.

Luckily we paid on Amex so we were able to get our money back, and we never heard from Kevin again. But the way that he ghosted us, lied to us, and kept stringing us along was stressful at an already stressful time and had a massive negative impact on us financially and emotionally. Because our doors weren't fitted when they were supposed to be, we missed our slot to have the floor laid, and therefore could not have our kitchen put in. We had a six month old baby at the time, who had been in intensive care, and we ended up with a four month delay on our build and effectively being homeless.

Trustpilot doesn’t give me enough space to give the full details of our awful experience with Kevin, so this is a summary of all the twists and turns. He can respond to this review and I will not be given the opportunity to counter his reply.

I have nothing to gain from this as thankfully we have our money back, I just hope sharing my experience here provides someone the chance to avoid going through the same.

In summary:

- Before placing the order for one door and 4 large windows, Kevin was a great communicator. We thought he was polite and patient, as we asked many questions back and forth. In hindsight, the reason we asked so many questions was because no information was provided upfront. We recognise this now, having had experience of other suppliers. All of the red flags are now really obvious in hindsight.

- Once we paid a 50% deposit of £9k at the beginning of November, Kevin’s communication became sparse, citing family issues. Whenever we did manage to get hold of him, there was always some seemingly plausible excuse. Because of his nature, we gave him the benefit of the doubt.

- We paid to use his third party measure & installer. That was a really odd, amateur situation. Finally someone came round (we were never given details of this person), and when asked basic installation questions from our contractor, the measurer couldn’t answer them.

- After the measuring, we were never given any indication from Kevin that we would need to make adjustments to our window & doors openings to accommodate the products.

- Kevin would continually go awol, then come back dangling a carrot of hope that all everything was okay. Again, he is perfectly humble, which is very deceptive.

- The windows & door were due to arrive 15th January 2024. After hounding him, finally Kevin said there had been delays. By this point, Kevin still hadn’t given us any designs, or discussed opening directions etc. We knew at this point that there was something majorly wrong. I rang the Cortizo factory, who confirmed that we should have had the products well before Christmas and there was no delay.

- We gave Kevin every opportunity to provide us proof that windows & doors had been ordered, which he couldn’t do. We contacted our credit card company, Amex, who then reversed our charge. Kevin was given adequate time to demonstrate that the dispute wasn’t justified, but he didnt and thankfully we have our money back.

- Since then, we have found alternative suppliers. In doing so, we’ve found out that none of our windows or doors would have been suitable had products from Kevin arrived. We avoided an even bigger disaster thankfully, which I am sorry to see on Trustpilot other people have had to go through.

- Thanks to us choosing to go with Kevin, we are 5 months delayed from moving into our new place. It has cost a huge amount of money and stress in the process.

- We had initially recommended Kevin to a friend, who was having building works at the same time. She had exactly the same experience as us, and has her money back too. We were able to trade notes throughout the process thankfully, which is why we knew not to listen to Kevin’s excuses for any longer.

As I’ve said, there the are more details in this saga but not enough space to share. This should hopefully give enough of an overview of deception and gaslighting received from Kevin. Everything I have shared here can be backed up with many emails and WhatsApp messages.

Our order was placed with Kevin David Trussell trading as Doors Direct 16.10.23. The supplied and installed rear glazing is incorrect as of the 15 December 23. Also none compliant with current Building Regulations. Please note Doors Direct are not FENSA affiliated. Mr Kevin D Trussell screens calls, rarely responds to voicemails, text messages or emails and when he does it is only with a variety of excuses. June 2024 and our incorrectly supplied and installed glazing to our side annex has not been replaced with an as ordered glazing requirement. WE STRONGLY ADVISE NOT TO PLACE AN ORDER OR TRY TO CARRYOUT ANY FORM OF BUSINESS TRANSACTION WITH MR KEVIN DAVID TRUSSELL.
It should be noted that Cortizo only supply the extruded frames to independent glazers and cannot rectify/replace incorrect Doors Direct orders and installations. Failure to carry out these works and compliance with your contracted obligations will leave us with no alternative but legal recourse.

Would avoid, please do not use Kevin. Kevin has taken the deposit money we gave him for our house project, was then unable to fulfil and deliver the order resulting in us having to find another contractor. He promised to return the deposit £8.5k, 6 months later we are now going through the courts to be reimbursed. He will give you every excuse mainly family orientated to make you feel sorry for his situation. We gave him options to return the deposit in instalments trying to ease the pressure. Please if you give him any money make sure you use a credit card or just do not use. Find someone reliable and honest.

4th time I've ordered with these guys, best I've found for combination of price, lead time and quality.
I will continue to use Kevin for future projects.

Really impressed with the quality of these doors! Highly recommend. I even installed them with a friend. Very straight forward, simple design.

We bought some sliding doors and a sky light for our home extension in Guildford. Kevin was so helpful and clearly knows his stuff - he was able to advise us on some things even our builder (another story!) had no idea of. We are so pleased with the how it all looks! So much cheaper than other doors we had looked at in local showrooms but we feel the quality is better - the really thin frame look we were after.

Ordered two sets of Bi-folds doors that arrived damaged. Contacted Kevin who's communication is very poor and slow who said he would arrange for touch up paint to be sent out. Chased several times only to be ignored. Months on, I still have badly damaged doors with no resolution. PayPal claims were useless due to the amount I was trying to claim back to get this situation fixed (so don't think that paying through PayPal will protect your purchase!).

Also, the doors were delivered by one man and a van... this is an extremely heavy product!! The delivery driver could not offload on his own and needed help... I paid £350+VAT for this delivery service!! Luckily I had a very athletic gardener and the three of us struggled to offload the doors.

The product itself (other than the damage) is OK, the service and comms awful however!

Definitely would not buy from again for any other properties.

Driver Handled doors and property with care.

I never write reviews but I feel this will help those decide whether to buy them or not.

Shamelessly, we were attracted by the pricing and speed of delivery. I'd been quoted more for the same system with much longer lead times.

We had a video call with Kevin and it all seemed genuine.

However It wasn't completely smooth sailing, before we paid our deposit, he was very fast to respond to everything BUT having paid our deposit we then had a period of radio silence of nearly a week whilst trying to organise the survey. It was actually quite stressful as we wondered whether the bloke had sailed off into the sunset with our 50 %deposit.

However, to Kevin's credit he kicked back into gear and got the Survey sorted out followed by installation of the doors only 3 weeks later.

Having read the reviews on here, we felt like we were taking a bit of a punt on Kevin and Direct Doors but we are delighted that we have done so. It appears as though he's a bit stretched and could be better at admin (seems to be a bit of thread on the reviews)

We would use Kevin again safe in the knowledge that whilst his communication is shocking, he has delivered outstanding doors, at a decent price and in very good speed.

The doors are genuinely outstanding.

Not sure whether or how this company operates, I left a message through their chat box, and was contacted by someone called Kevin. He quoted me a price based on a bespoke set of doors and a sliding set already being offered on the site, I asked if it was possible to visit the showroom that weekend, he suggested we videocall that evening so that he could show me the products based at his location in Poole (apparently the showroom is in Canterbury and not open during the weekend) Following several calls and messages he has not responded once, despite my interest in purchasing 2 sets of bifolds!

Excellent quality windows. Most Impressed with Kevin’s willingness to always be on hand to answer my questions and help. Thanks !

Ordered doors, we were understanding when told there was an unexpected four week delay. Also understanding when told there was a further four week delay. Five weeks later still no doors, and during which weeks of trying to contact Kevin is still not answering calls, responding to emails or sms messages. We have no idea how to proceed and have just paused our house renovations and lost our builders as we cannot proceed.
This review reflects the service and communication and our frustration.

Kevin has contacted us since this review to ask us to remove, at this time I will update only to say he has given us another expected ETA of the doors now for next week but this is our third promise date and hopeful this is the end of difficulties within this transaction and reassured of his efforts to resolve.

Final edit 23/03/2022. Doors arrived on truck and flat pack but the delivery driver couldn’t offload as he was on his own and without the capability each glass panel just weigh in excess of 180kg. After a scramble around with neighbours we got 6 of us together and managed to lift the doors off the truck and then get them to curb side. I’ll mark up to 2* but only as we now have the doors. I don’t feel the price reflects the quality, the delay or the experience. I’m sure they will be acceptable when we find someone to fit as Kevin has now asked to remove price and us find someone to do this

Had a fantastic experience with this company. Kevin was exceptionally helpful, honest and knowledgeable. The doors are brilliant, we got the ultra thin sliding doors and they really are stunning and modern. The fitter came out quickly to measure and did a very professional job of fitting them. The lead times to supply is a real draw for this company as many suppliers are experiencing delays at the moment, We were initially quoted a 3-4 week lead time and the doors had a slight delay and were in within 4.5 weeks, communication was brilliant when the delay happened we were kept updated every step of the way. Excellent quality.
Installation was perfect.
Communication was reasonable too.
We are extremely happy with the price and the end result. Thank you Kevin. 5 stars.

An amazing company my 4th set of sliding doors ( keep moving house) Nothing too much trouble for them the customer service staff are fantastic and talk you through any questions you may have. Delivery timescales excellent and the delivery driver so helpful nothing too much trouble and the sliding doors are absolutely fabulous can't praise them enough friends and family have bought too and everyone of them more than happy and they gave me an extra as a previous customer just so very pleased a pleasure to do business with you

Wonderful experience from start to finish with Kevin - he managed my expectations in terms of build, transit and delivery and was actually a couple of days ahead of when he thought they would be delivered. The delivery company were also great, friendly and efficient.

Most importantly, the 3m bifold doors we bought look brilliant, work well and have improved our living space tremendously. Our fitter (just a local chap) even commented that the quality of the doors was excellent considering the price.

I've spoken to Kevin a couple of times since delivery - his customer service and willingness to answer questions even after the product had been bought and delivered was really appreciated.
