Not ideal if you have private health…

Not ideal if you have private health insurance. I have submitted multiple requests for itemised receipts and have received no response. I have also called numerous times, but the waiting times are excessively long. It has now been over 6 months, and I am still waiting for the documentation I need to make my insurance claim.

If there was a chance to go lower than one star I would gladly take it. I have been trying for weeks now to contact your company, firstly through billing then Facebook then feedback forum with no results which is so frustrating, if a chance to not use your pathology centres I would gladly take it.

Dorevitch pathology

I have gone to dorevitch pathology for my blood test as doctor has recommended me to do blood test on that day and it was Saturday,24th of May,2026. On Saturday, pathology closed at 12pm and lady named Supat charee called me at around 12:00pm to do my blood test. She do my blood test even she was late for her house. My blood test was done at 12:05pm and I really appreciate that lady for doing my blood test even after pathology working hours. That lady was so nice and helpful to me that I recommend lady Supat charee to anyone who goes for blood test in dorevitch pathology in Werribee medical and dental centre at 1-5, station place, Werribee.

Billing fumble and expecting me to pay for defective device and test result

I went for an ECG test and the practitioner on site advised that something is not right with the test and I'd likely need to redo it. I went back to the doctor and the doctor specifically noted on the dorevitch form that the first test was faulty (not fault of mine). I went to Boxhill on Thursday 14th May, and the test was successful (no defective device). I received a link to an invoice which I paid and I have confirmation of payment for. Today I received a new link to make payment and when I followed up, it seems the invoice generated on Thursday, was actually for the first defective test. Now im out of pocket for the defective test and the invoice I thought it was paying is not paid. I called to request they assign the payment to the right account and I was told " we will try", not clear indication of what they will do and I have requested they assign the payment to the right invoice. The call centre person did not want to provide a reference to this call. Now I am waiting for my results that I paid for to be released and now there is no clear reconciliation and correction process. I want this resolved as a matter of urgency, as my medical care is dependent on the results of the test.

Dehumanising and Incompetent

I am genuinely angry writing this, because what my wife experienced at Dorevitch Pathology Fairfield was not just inconvenient or careless, it was dehumanising, thoughtless, and completely unacceptable.
We attended this clinic to undertake a 24‑hour urine test. The staff looked at the referral, looked at the tests required, and handed us what appeared to be a 3‑litre juice container with a tiny ~2cm opening. That was it. No instructions. No transfer container. No funnel. No explanation. Nothing.
We left, confused and stunned, assuming we must be missing something, surely there must be additional equipment or written instructions in the bag. There was nothing.
Let me be very clear: it is physically unrealistic, unsafe, and humiliating to expect someone with a vagina to urinate directly into a large 3‑litre jug with a tiny opening. This should not need explaining to any medical professional. Even as a male, I know that this is not how human anatomy works.
Because Dorevitch Pathology Fairfield gave us zero guidance, we were forced to Google how to perform the test ourselves. The fact that a medical diagnostic company left patients to figure this out via the internet is staggering.
I returned to the Fairfield clinic, waited 30 minutes, and asked how my wife was expected to use this container. The response was shocking, the staff member gestured with her hands and demonstrated that my wife should squat and shove the large 3‑litre jug between her legs and “just pee into it.”
That was it. No acknowledgement of how ridiculous or undignified this was. No alternative offered.
I left, stunned, and went to a chemist, who, unlike this pathology clinic, showed basic human understanding and competence. They helped me find a universal device so my wife could urinate comfortably and safely, and we could then use to transfer into the jug.
But it gets worse.
The following day, we attended Dorevitch Pathology Northcote (we did not want to go back to Fairfield) to submit the sample and complete other tests. They reviewed the referral and immediately told us that the container Fairfield gave us was wrong. We had completed the incorrect 24‑hour urine test.
At this point, my wife broke down in tears.
She had already been made to feel humiliated, unsupported, and dismissed and now we found out that the Fairfield clinic hadn’t even provided the correct container in the first place. The emotional toll of this was enormous and completely avoidable.
In stark contrast, the team at Dorevitch Pathology Northcote were outstanding. They were apologetic, compassionate, and competent. They provided the correct container, supplied a transfer cup, gave a funnel, provided clear, printed instructions, treated my wife like a human being who deserves dignity. This is the minimum standard of care. This is what Fairfield failed so spectacularly to provide.
Dorevitch Pathology Fairfield demonstrated a complete lack of, basic understanding of female anatomy, clinical competence, empathy or patient dignity.
No one, especially someone already dealing with a lot in their lives, should be subjected to this level of incompetence and humiliation.
Avoid Dorevitch Pathology Fairfield.
If you must go to Dorevitch, go to Northcote, where they actually seem to understand both medicine and humanity.

I waited 1 hour to get through to an operator to ask about the charge. I wasn’t happy as I waited all that time to get through and I wasn’t rude just a bit of a smart arse saying was she the only person working. She asked me to hold for 1 or 2 mins more while she checked the invoice and l was happy to wait.I was waiting another 20 mins then the phone dropped out, I was hung up on. It’s just ridiculous but this is the first time this has happened to me, I’m really not happy and just maybe they should employ more staff!

Double dipping?

i went to Dorevitch in late November for some blood tests (long term condition requires regular monitoring). While I made a point of seeking reassurance that the laboratory results would be uploaded to the Government funded My Health Record as requested on the form (note the testing process is also government funded). The phlebotomist assured me that she had noted the request and also annotated the record on the computer with additional request stressing that I wanted the result up loaded. Note: other labs, if you stress the request, generally upload the results free of charge.

Two months later, not having received the results I wrote to Dorevitch asking if they could send them to me. They said they would but that I would have to pay them an additional $25. I did a bit of research on the Australian Government websites and it appears that going forward from about June 2026 labs will be compelled to upload results ot the My health Record system but until that time there is no compulsion to do so.

I contend that, given that the My Health Record system has been live for many many years now, any laboratory that had the best interests of patients at heart would be uploading results as a matter of course but at very least would upload them on specific request from the patient. To refuse to do so without payment seems like a cynical attempt to extort money from the patient for a service that is already in effect paid for.

Update 6th Feb: I received email from Dorevitch (Healius Pathology) on January 7th saying that they would not charge for uploading the results to My health record. They requested my IHI number and confirmation that this is what I wanted. i sent the IHI number and confirmation. As of today (6th Feb) the results have still not been uploaded.

I personally will no longer go to…

I personally will no longer go to Dorevitch Pathology centres. Received a Dorevitch invoice with a charge for a Medicare covered test. The GP form was ticked and signed on to be bulk-billed. I have confirmed this test should not have been charged for and as in the recent past, with other Providers - this is bulk-billed. I have tried to contact Dorevitch/ Healius Pathology with no chance of them answering a call even or responding to website requests. They send out invoices with a due date that is already passed and I do believe this is a standard business practise for them to scam people into paying unnecessary fee's and the opportunity to add late payment fee's as there is no way to contact them to have the charge removed. I still have a copy of the original test form and clearly shows it should not be charged. Definitely do not recommend.

Total lack of service

Cannot speak with anyone in Australia, being in call wait queues over an hour multiple times. Even when you ultimately select a call back, it was a call from Manila in the Philippines - no consent had been given for any of my personal or medical information to be sent overseas.
Even when sending emails to Dorevitch, there is no response

Misleading information

INVOICE NUMBER 92245815

I had a terrible experience with Dorevitch Pathology. I was misinformed by their staff that they had an agreement with HCF insurance, which led me to believe I would have minimal out-of-pocket expenses. However, I ended up paying over $500, which was a huge surprise and incredibly frustrating. This lack of transparency and the misleading information they provided has left me very disappointed. I would never recommend them again.

Thieves

Had bloods taken back in August, found out today they are trying to charge me for this even though they made no mention of fees at the time and have been advised all tests are covered under Medicare, and they are yet to send anything in writing, their accounts staff are not helpful, they just repeat the same things over and over again. Without being advised at the time of a charge I won't be making payment to these thieves, especially as they are still yet to provide any written information to me
