Absolutely disgraceful customer support. They don’t answer on their US number an on their WhatsApp (which works only Israeli hours) they reply after 2h, and if you are not there to reply, they close the for “lack of activity”😂😂😂😂😂

Worst experience

Worst experience , during emergency and flight cancellation, they don't have a call center available, they responding sometimes via WhatsApp after around 24h to your massage.
Expensive tickets comparing to other flights companies.
In case of cancelation they disappear for a refund + their voucher is only for 30 days unlike other flights companies that provide you with a voucher valid for 12-18 months.

I won't fly with them again !

The customer support deserves zero stars

They claim that they have multiple ways for you to get through to them, but their phone system automatically hangs up on you, their WhatsApp, which they force you to use is never available. They always either send you a new agent or automatically close the chat on you. they canceled my flight without asking me. a total disaster. I would absolutely not recommend flying them.

Unusable Voucher After Airline Cancellation

This feels like a trap, not a service.

El Al gives you a voucher with an expiration date.
You use it ON TIME, exactly as required, and book a flight.

Then the airline cancels the flight.

And suddenly — your money is locked again under new conditions.

In my case:
• I was first offered a “solution” of a 1-day extension
• after pushing, it became a 1-month extension
• during a war, when travel planning is clearly not realistic

And the options I was given:
• use it immediately
• lose my money
• or PAY EXTRA to extend the validity of my own funds

Let’s be clear:
I followed all the rules.
The airline cancelled the flight.

And I’m the one who loses.

This is not customer service.
This is not flexibility.

This is a system where the company keeps your money and makes it extremely difficult to use — and then offers to sell you a way out.

Even more concerning — El Al publicly states that customers are entitled to a refund or a voucher for future use.

In reality, the voucher is issued under conditions that make it practically unusable.

A voucher that cannot realistically be used is NOT a valid alternative to a refund.

This experience feels misleading, unfair, and deeply disappointing.

Be very careful when accepting vouchers — you may not actually be able to use them.

Klantenservice is geen service

Ik wil weten waarom ik een ticket kreeg voor de vlucht waarvan ik vrij zeker was dat deze niet ging vliegen maar ze sturen je naar Whatsapp daar een vraag gesteld aan een chatbot en deze heeft me in de wacht gezet voor een representative, maar ik wacht al 3 en een half uur maar niemand thuis, maar ik wil wel naar huis

Because of the war

Because of the war, we ended up stuck in Bucharest for two weeks with two children, our whole family, and our parents, who are disabled. They have prescriptions for their medication, but the medicine has run out. We still cannot fly out — our flight keeps getting postponed: first by one week, then two, then three.
We didn’t know how we would manage — how to pay for everything or where to get the medication. We were given no guarantees and no support. What is most frustrating is that other Israeli airlines are flying from Bucharest, but El Al is not taking its own passengers.
I don’t know what the problem was, but we are very disappointed.

Unresponsive During Crisis

I am an EL AL passenger stuck in Israel during the March 2026 Iran conflict because the airport in Tel Aviv has been closed, and we are waiting for it to reopen on 9 March. Meanwhile, I have a flight reservation for a few days from then, 12 March, and I've been unable to determine if my flight will be cancelled. The website is totally down with no response, messages, or anything. They have been least, when needed most.

I'm simply trying to book a flight. El Al website is horrible. Nothing works. So, I tried calling them. You push buttons, nothing connects. This company is going under. All I keep hearing is leave us alone, we don't want your business.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I have traveled with this airline many times because they offer guaranteed flights to and from Israel. That’s the only reason I kept using them, but my last experience was one of the worst.

Overall, the service is poor, the food is bad, and they have very strict rules for passengers before boarding (even for Israelis themselves). They have even broken items I purchased on other trips during security checks.

On my last trip to Barcelona, I couldn't take my return flight due to a medical emergency that required me to stay in the country. I changed the flight date and upgraded my fare to FLEX, as I was told I could cancel for free next time.

Due to my situation, I needed to change the date again, but they told me I had to pay for the change as if I didn't have the FLEX plan, and they refused to let me cancel the trip.

In conclusion: If you can avoid it, do so. The tickets are expensive compared to other airlines that offer ten times better service.

Expérience désastreuse

Madame, Monsieur,

Je vous adresse la présente réclamation concernant le traitement inacceptable de mon dossier par votre service client, et plus particulièrement par deux de vos collaboratrices, dont une prénommée Amandine, ainsi qu’une autre se présentant comme Leïla.

Premier point – informations erronées et manque de professionnalisme

Le vendredi 12 décembre, j’ai contacté votre service afin d’avancer mes billets d’avion pour la date du 18 décembre. La personne que j’ai eue au téléphone (Amandine) m’a affirmé qu’il n’existait aucun vol disponible à cette date.

Or, moins de cinq minutes après avoir raccroché, je me suis rendu sur votre site internet et j’ai constaté qu’il existait bien plusieurs vols disponibles pour cette même date. Il est donc évident que l’information qui m’a été donnée était fausse.

Le lundi suivant, j’ai rappelé votre service en me présentant comme un nouveau client. La même personne m’a alors confirmé qu’il existait bien des vols pour le 18 décembre. Lorsque je lui ai indiqué qu’il s’agissait de moi, qu’elle avait déjà eu en ligne le vendredi précédent, elle ne s’est ni excusée ni remise en question, et a tenté de me faire croire que l’erreur venait de moi, ce qui est totalement inexact.

Deuxième point – incohérences tarifaires et comportement inapproprié

Lors de mon appel du vendredi, une autre interlocutrice, se présentant comme Leïla, m’a parlé de façon particulièrement déplacée et agressive, allant jusqu’à me dire, je cite :
« Plaignez-vous où vous voulez, je m’en fiche. »

Elle m’a néanmoins indiqué un tarif d’environ 260 € pour le changement de vol.

Le lundi, Amandine m’annonce soudain que le tarif est le double, sans justification claire, alors même que les prix affichés sur votre site internet étaient identiques, voire inférieurs. Cette incohérence est totalement incompréhensible.

Troisième point – erreurs graves de traitement et double débit

Lors de la modification des billets, Amandine a commis une erreur supplémentaire en séparant les enfants et les parents sur des vols différents, alors que cela devait impérativement être évité. Elle a reconnu l’erreur, sans toutefois présenter la moindre excuse.

Elle m’a ensuite assuré que je ne serais pas débité, ou que le débit serait annulé, s’agissant d’une erreur de sa part. Or, j’ai bien été débité deux fois, et ce débit n’a jamais été annulé, contrairement à ce qui m’a été confirmé par écrit.

À ce jour, plus de deux semaines se sont écoulées, je n’ai toujours pas été remboursé, et je me retrouve à découvert, avec des frais bancaires, du fait exclusif de vos dysfonctionnements.

Enfin, je constate que les réponses reçues par e-mail ne sont jamais signées, ce qui renforce le sentiment d’un manque total de sérieux et de transparence.

Je vous demande donc le remboursement immédiat des sommes indûment prélevées, ainsi qu’une réponse écrite claire et officielle sur le traitement de ce dossier.

À défaut de retour rapide, je me réserve le droit d’engager toute démarche utile auprès des services compétents et des autorités de contrôle.

El Al used has succumb to rot

After paying a premium on top of the ticket price, I am now being informed that I cannot get credit for my return flight because it only applies to the outbound ticket?!

Then I am told that an itemised receipt won't list the price per leg of the journey as it's a round trip journey.

I then asked if anything could be done, and I was told no. I asked them if then I should proceed by raising a chargeback and was told that this was illegal, effectively accusing me of fraud?!

I repeatedly asked for clarification but customer support ran out of patience and closed my case. I don't know how much to raise the chargeback for so I guess I will have to raise it for the full amount.

שלום רב,

טסנו לגאורגיה כדי להתחתן. אני אזרחית ישראל וגם בעלי אזרח ישראל. בעת הצ’ק-אין בטביליסי, העובדת שביצעה את הבדיקה דיברה אלינו בצורה לא נעימה ושאלה שאלות בטון לא מכבד. אנחנו לא מתנגדים לבדיקות ביטחוניות כלל, אך מצפים ליחס אדיב ומקצועי.

העובדת אמרה שהיא מבינה עברית אך תדבר איתנו רק באנגלית, למרות שהבינה גם רוסית ואנחנו הבנו אותה מצוין. בזמן שהוצאתי את המסמכים, ביקשתי ממנה לא לקמט את התעודה מכיוון שמדובר בתעודת נישואין שאנחנו צריכים להגיש במשרד הפנים. היא ענתה שאנחנו צריכים לדעת אנגלית ושהבעיות הן שלנו, למרות שמדובר בבדיקה של הביטחון הישראלי ולא של הביטחון הלאומי של שדה התעופה בגאורגיה.

אם כך, מדוע מאפשרים לאנשים שלא יודעים עברית לעבוד מול ישראלים במסגרת בדיקות ביטחון כה רגישות — ועוד להתנהג בצורה כזו?

נוסף על כך, שילמנו על תיק יד/טרולי, אך העובדת לקחה אותו מאיתנו ושלחה אותו לבטן המטוס. איננו מבינים מדוע אנחנו משלמים עבור שירות שאיננו מקבלים בפועל.
