Ordered a dress for my wife. She loved it so im happy!

Items looked better than on the pictures. Shipping took a couple days but was worth the wait!

Absolute con artists, my girlfriend saw a coat that she liked on their website and we bought it. It looked like it was good quality but when it turned up it looked like it had been sewn by children and was of very poor quality. When I told them I wasn't happy they tried to give me a discount which I refused as what was I going to do with this coat? I attempted to return the product Elvies closet informed me that I would have to return it to China and asked me to send them tracking. This meant they got the customs duty emails and I couldn't pay them because they hadn't been sent to me directly. Now it's stuck in Chinese customs who are ridiculously hard to deal with and I am doubly out of pocket.

Please don't buy from this website. They've got such a lovely website, they make their clothes look like they are top notch, and the prices are not cheap either, that's what makes you think that the quality is going to be good. They do say on the website that it comes from China, which I didn't see until after I'd made the purchase, I only read as far as it saying it's main holding site is in Amsterdam, and then realised that this is the same as any other dodgy site from China. Once you get the goods and they are poor quality like mine, I bought a red coat that was the same material as one I'd looked at in Matalan for 25 quid and was also really poor quality, this site was selling it for 80 pounds, I had to wait for the item to arrive from China and then when I tried to send it back, they did that thing that they all do when you buy from eBay or Amazon or facebook, where they start haggling with you about keeping it and they'll give you 15% back etc. When I said no I want a full refund they said fine here you go here's the return address you've got to a pay all the customs and everything else! Believe me when I say this site is not worth touching, the clothes are poor quality and you will regret it when you get the item and then have to send it back yourself.

Like each other..very poorly made and when emailed for refund was offered either 30% off full price and keep outfit or send back to china at my own cost.. the suit isn’t worth £5 never mind the £40 I paid.. also would never of bought if I thought it was from china.. website stated netherlands

Chinese company in disguise. Returns are made impossible, instead they email you offering first a 10% discount then 30%. Not much use when something doesn’t fit and you need to return it!
Basically a complete scam, where the need to return items to China and pay customs charges is not mentioned until it’s too late

Do not use this company!! It is not what they say they are. Products are made in china. The story is not true. The products are awful quality!

Not based in UK. Prohibitive returns policy IE you pay to post back to China. Poor quality clothes.

I ordered a coat on 25th October, thinking Elvie’s Closet was a little boutique in London. I emailed the store immediately after placing the order, offering to pay for urgent delivery as I needed the coat in time for a funeral. They responded by saying this was not possible as it depended on the courier but they would despatch asap. At no point did they mention it was coming from China. The coat finally arrived 10th November and is of such poor quality. There is no lining and the button holes are literally just scissor cut. The coat is probably worth £19.99 at best, certainly not the £76 sale price I paid. If it’s too expensive to return to China, it will be going straight in the charity bag.

Returns have to be sent back to China.

I bought 3 items from Elvie's Closet London, and I had to do a return.

Their website elviescloset.com does not disclose any China return address or indicate that returns must be sent to China. It simply states that the customer will be given “detailed return instructions” after emailing, which does not make customers aware of the cost and international shipping involved for returns at the time of purchase.

I emailed them, and they disclosed the address when replying back to my email.

The website only mentions that “shipping costs are non-refundable”, but it does not specify that returns must be sent overseas, which also involves any applicable customs fees.

I requested them that the website has to clearly state for future customers that returns have to be sent to China, as the cost of doing so is significant. Unfortunately, as you can imagine, this is not the “Hassle-free returns” service advertised on their website.

This is what they answered to me via email:
"As an alternative to returning them internationally, we can offer you a 30% refund of the value of the two items you wish to return. This allows you to avoid any additional return shipping and customs costs. [...] Please note that all shipping costs and any applicable customs fees are the responsibility of the sender. Once the returned items are received and confirmed by our warehouse, a full refund will be issued."

Very unfair, and not a nice experience at all - it's either sending the returns to China paying for shipping costs and custom fees or accept the 30% refund. Hope this helps future costumers.
