I rang the helpline this afternoon and spoke to Rachel. This is regarding a situation at work that has left me feeling a lost and sad. The situation at work pertained to issues of discrimination. The guidance I got was clear and supportive. It gave me more confidence and validated my experiences in a way that I was not able to gain from managers at work. It was a valuable experience.

The Equality Advisor Jayne I spoke with was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to explain things clearly and patiently. She took the time to listen and gave me clear guidance on a complicated issue. I really appreciate her support and professionalism. Highly recommended service.

I spoke to Rory at length, talking through a particularly challenging issue we are facing in our small not-for profit club. He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to help me think through the options open to us and I felt very reassured after the call.

I have previously contacted Equality Advisory Support Service and can not say it was always like today, unfortunately.
Just bare in mind, they do not help you with your issue, they can only give you advice, to help you see your situation more clear.

I reported an age discrimination job advert 5 days ago by email. I received a confirmation of receipt on the same day saying unresolved, but nothing more since. It also said the response time should be within 72 hours.
I tried to chase it up with online chat which gave an approx wait time of 2 mins with 2 people before me in the queue. I waited 30 mins for the queue to go down to 1 and then after waiting another 30 mins an onscreen message told me there were no agents available to chat and to try again later!
I suggest the equality advisory service should employ more people and advise longer wait times!

Really informative, takes the time to fully understand the situation and provide relevant advice. Inform you of legislation and what you need to do to prove their has been an issues. Would highly recommend.

I just contacted ESSA the advicer Deborah is so lovely and very clear she made me feel at ease. I get nervous to express how I feel sometimes so she was fantastic how she handled it Thank you for your understanding.

Hi I contacted your service the other day and spoke to rachel . I found the experience very through and explanatory. She went through the law clearly so it was easy to understand and interpret.

I called their advice line for some advice and support. the lady I spoke to was very polite and understanding. As I'm autistic, she took my communication needs into account. She gave me advice, and pointed me to some great resources. I would recommend this service to anyone who is in need of advice regarding discrimination.

Spoke to Jayne over the online chat for quite a while today. She was very good at keeping me updated when she was looking in to my issues and provided me with helpful information to use when I attend my grievance meeting with my employers around failure to make reasonable adjustments. Didnt seem in a rush to get me off the chat and get to the next person as Ive had at other support services.

Initially, I was nervous about reaching out to the Equality Advisory Support Service, but I'm really glad I did. James, my advisor during the live chat, walked me through all the necessary steps. Now, I feel more confident than ever to manage my situation, and I truly appreciate his help!

I appreciate that he took the time to explain the various processes and the necessary actions I need to take. He also provided me with helpful resources so I could approach my situation deliberately, rather than being left to figure things out on my own.

I also liked that there are multiple ways to get in touch, including letters, live chat, phone calls, and even British Sign Language. Their convenient opening hours give me confidence that if I ever need support again, I can reach out here again!
