Avoid for anything but the simplest jobs
I had them over for 2 days. First the good bits - the owner is very responsive on email, and day 1 when I had Frank who is mentioned in other reviews went reasonably well - Frank was polite, solid, thorough (if slightly inexperienced with drilling holes in cavity walls) and cleaned up after himself well.
Day 2 was the owner - George - and that was a total disaster. Lots of plasterboard damage when installing switches. Has cut existing wiring in the loft when installing new wires and did not repair it. Junction boxes that new wiring was added to were left hanging together with tape, which does not meet building regulation. Totally shredded my loft floor to install a simple cable. The shower extraction fan was also brute forced damaging the bathroom ceiling. See photos in my Google Maps review.
And worst of all George damaged piping in my loft which ended up flooding the floor below. At first he didn't say anything and if I didn't accidentally step into a pool of wet carpet I am not even sure he would have mentioned that a pipe under mains pressure was damaged (so dangerous!). And when I paid my own money to call out the emergency plumber George admitted hitting the pipe. Later he refused to accept responsibility, emailed me to say he walks on pipes in lofts all the time and they should be strong enough to be walked on (nonsense!) and demanded full payment minus a little discount to fix the plasterboard issues. Did not even have the decency to take off his shoes when working in our house so I had clean the stairs carpet in several places. Not to mention the bathroom fans he installed don't meet building regulation because far too far from the vent in the outside wall.
Total disgrace. If a job is too big for you and you don't have the right tools to work on walls and ceilings then you should say so during the quote and move on rather than proceed with a client, rush it all in a day doing a terrible job and then have the guts to demand full payment. I would not recommend Eru Electrics for anything more than simplest of jobs.
