Competent very pleasant staff
Goodness me the previous reviews are very mixed.
Huntingdon and Peterborough sectionThe Care staff working for Hales are on the main extremely good, caring and efficient, but like any organisation you get a mix of abilities.
Not always on time but a 15 minute window I feel is reasonable, I was informed quickly that the Carer would be late, both times for very good reasons, traffic and waiting for an ambulance.
Care Companies have a very difficult job, recruiting the right type of employee, and making their rotas work for everyone.
My experience is talk to the company if you have any real issues, and they will try and rectify these as soon as possible.
I would recommend Hales, Huntingdon and Peterborough Section as they offer flexibility, and in this day and age reasonable value for money.
Keeping good staff is always a challenge.

Hales Peterborough branch
Hales are a good company to work for, I enjoy my job. The hours can be long and tiresome but the difference you can make to someone’s life is very rewarding. We have good support in our Peterborough branch and feel comfortable and confident approaching them with regards to any issues. As staff caring for a loved one of a stranger we will always do our best and go that extra mile to make them feel safe, seen and heard by involving them in their own care. The office branch in Peterborough are helpful and supportive to their staff. The pay is good, and so are the breaks

Excellent
I have worked for this company for serval years. I think that being with a company for so long shows a lot of confidence in my branch and our day to day tasks. We work as a team to give the best care we possibly can to those who need it. We strive on caring for our patients like we do our loved ones, we have great rapport with everyone we visit. Our Peterborough branch office staff are supportive and dedicated in what they do, from scheduling and assistance, to supporting us out in the field providing care. Training is always available, as well as policies and procedures. Spot checks as well to make sure we are following the best methods to keep ourselves and our patients safe. Time management within our visits is handled well, we get travel time accordingly, and we have a good work/home life balance. The shifts we work can vary but the office staff are always willing to work with us to accommodate needs and requirements of staff. The people we look after are considerate and respectful and are a delight to work with as well as the office team. This field is person centred and this company applies that to its staff and service users well.

Hales Home Care Need To Improve!!!
I want to be fair about this company. So I can honestly say the staff that have come to my home 3 times a day to care for my mother have been wonderful. Caring, efficient and simply great. Claire, Jasmin and al the other ladies like Betty. Hales, you have some wonderful employees who are a credit to your company. The way you run things however is not so good. You have been caring for my mother for several months and my mother is sad knowing She will not see your fabulous care staff again. We have no option to swap to another care provider because you are unable to turn up on a regular basis at the times you promised to. Today the 8.30am scheduled appointment has arrived at 11.45am. My 85 year old mother who is mentally very fit is crying in her bed laying in her soiled underwear. She refuses to eat in bed so has not eaten. Luckily being Sunday She has not had to cancel her physiotherapy appointment or hair appointment as She has in the past several times due to your inability to arrive anywhere near the times you agreed too. The 30mins leeway for the morning visits are at best delusional. I know North Norfolk is a new area you have taken over however yesterday you arrived at 10.30am, The day before luckily the care lady saw you had scheduled my mother to be visited at after 10am and came at 9am. The day before that was 10.15am. I never get a phone call to advise me the visit will be late. In fact almost every time I ring to ask where the care staff are. I am told they are scheduled to arrive at a time much later than was agreed. Now in Hales defense Initially we did say Male and Female care staff would be ok. That was because my mother was cared for in hospital by male nurses and She was herself once a Nurse. However after noticing my mother was upset after having a male career get her ready in the morning. My mother disclosed She had been raped as a young 10 year old girl and simply could not cope with a male care person washing her and dealing with intimate issues. Unfortunately my father died a few months ago and he had cared for her until his death. A hospital setting being very different from being naked alone in her bedroom with a man and my father no longer around. So I obviously informed Hales that we could no longer have male care staff attend to my mother. She has had two heart operations and the stress was not good for her! So yes we did change that, which obviously did effect your roster and reduced the number of staff that could attend. I still thought a company the size of Hales with a majority female staff could cope with this. I did ask Hales to refer my mother back for another company to be allocated if they could not cope with the three agreed daily visits. In fact 95% of evening and lunch visits do come within 45 mins of the agreed times. The morning alas are a different matter. This is not the odd occasion when things unexpected happen. This is regular planned failures. 23 times in April and May they arrived after 9.30am. 7 times after 10am and 3 times after 11am. We stopped recording the times after we requested moving to another care provider. So if you are happy leaving your loved parents laying in bed in soiled underwear for hours on end each morning in distress. Hales is the recommended care provider for you. If you are happy for them to agree a specific time for visits with reasonable leeway. Then to schedule that visit to happen hours later without informing you or giving any explanation of why they have done this. Hales is for you. If you enjoy the challenge of having to re arrange your daily plans at short notice. Choose Hales. They will certainly keep you busy! I honestly do hope the next company have care staff as good as Hales, because they are top notch, but I hope the next company are run better.

Nice experience with Hales Home Care Peterborough branch…
Hales Home Care is saddled with excellent management who are at the forefront of delivering personal centred care. They've made the work environment a condusive atmosphere for staff to operate. There rapid response to situations needing their attention is really heartwarming. Their insistence on quality care is massive. It was a huge boost to my delivering excellent care to service users. It is clear, that they care.

Response to my reply.
Initial review left: 18/06/2024
New entry: 26/06/2024
The response to my review is particularly shocking. I will break this down into separate points.
"we can confirm that, having investigated the circumstances of your partner's training, all appropriate measures were put in place to provide a flexible learning environment."
She only met her manager twice. On the first occasion she made it clear she is new to being a carer, had a brief interaction with said manager, was provided an inadequate amount of information, and then proceeded to have a "training day" with someone separate based around being quizzed, rather than actually being taught anything. On the second occasion, it was when she got dragged into a separate room after said "training", told how there are "concerns" based around her current knowledge of being a carer, and also insinuated she takes drugs. How are these "appropriate measures" that were put into place? Especially considering she made it clear she was new to care work? Do "appropriate measures" also include accusations of drug taking, to individuals who do not even drink alcohol, let alone take any form of drugs? None of that seems appropriate in my personal opinion.
"We welcome applicants who do not have prior care experience and provide a detailed training programme over a period of months to ensure that all our staff have the competencies and capability to deliver high-quality, person-centred care."
She was told she would initially have 1 day of face to face training, followed by 4 days of online training, before then beginning work. How is that "a period of months"? Is this admitting she was being offered insufficient training in the first place?
"we ask that our applicants are fully committed to the learning, including timekeeping, attendance, concentration, and note-taking. Discussion and questioning relating to scenarios presented during the training are an essential part of measuring understanding."
Go to suffolknews website /ipswich/news/traffic-building-on-major-road-after-two-vehicle-crash-9370851/ This was published at the time of 08:37 which included the statement "Recovery for the vehicle is on the way as officers remain on the scene.". So you can clearly see that at 8:37 the crash had still not been resolved. She was expected to be there for 9:30am and was only 10 minutes late due to this accident. Which she also explained upon arrival. I left my house early and travelled around 20 miles to pick her up and transport her to your location. If we were not organised and heavily focused on timekeeping/attendance, then this time of arrival would have been much later due to said accident. She wrote a considerable amount of notes, asked questions when necessary, and was fully focused while attending the "training" day. Is this previous statement your attempt at trying to blame her for the experience she had? Was it also her fault that your company left her in tears? Your company is an utter disgrace, disingenuous, and has no qualms about presenting false or misleading information. Your reply is absolutely disgusting and shows extremely low professional standards, lack of transparency, and refusal to take any form of responsibility. 4 more fake positive reviews left by employees only furthers this point.
My response. Ipswich branch. Awful company!! STAY AWAY.
'we take this very seriously' is the first response by you. YOU do not take this seriously. Your blaming me because you and your team are awful and you have no leg to stand on. Let me clarify what happened. I met the lady/manager ONCE. ONCE. To give my ID. then came in next time and met the trainee. She said go in there (next room) for training. With 3 men who already work there. I had no idea what I was doing with them if they are much higher up. Again, I said I was new to care. You messed UP big time because you put me into a room and interrogated ME. Made me hysterically CRY all day when I have major anxiety. what sort of company in care EVER speaks to someone with a mental health issue LIKE that. I never had a chat with anyone. So this is ALL on you. Nice try trying to defend this though. That's how awful you are and you have not taken anything seriously. Why the hell would I ever want to come back to Hales home care. Your manager and staff and trainee are the most disrespectful rude people I've ever come across. And I think EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW. Do not WORK for this company or get into any training with them. They are cruel and nasty to you. Make you shake and cry with nerves, making the individual feel like she's done something wrong. I will not be spoken to like that again and how you have to me. I was in TOTAL SHOCK. (reason for crying) Asking if I smoke weed. When your all not very nice people and I saw the two of you going out there for a cigarette gossiping. Acting like your so professional and can EVEN ask me such horrible questions. Your not a care home. You bully people and interrogate them. And I will always write it on here so people can not work for you and come to you. I've had this backed up aswell. Awful company. People who are reading this. They are fake and nasty. Stop writing fake reviews aswell by your employers. Your company is trash and you have bad management and staff who are utterly cruel and rude. ALSO don't say you've investigated. You have not spoken to me whatsoever. Only two people who bullied me.

Have been with Hales, Peterborough branch, since 2017 and have seen many low points in my time. However, at this moment we have the best manager this company will EVER have. She genuinely cares about the service users and the staff. The carers are brilliant, hardworking, loyal and go above and beyond for the service users. Is it a perfect company? No, it is not. There are faults and flaws, as with every company. However, we as a branch, try striving for the best and i hope we can get there. I genuinely feel that this is a good place to work, we have a good team and lovely service users. I appreciate that every individual has differing experiences, but in my experience i enjoy working here and enjoy my job. There are things that need to improve, such as the payroll department and their communication and attitude towards the staff, but the care is delivered to an excellent standard and the team we have are great!
I do feel that staff need to be listened to more and any changes must be shared with the staff.
The training is good, the office staff always try their best to help staff and service users.
All in all, i do recommend the Peterborough branch!

An incredible team focused on person centred care!
All the team at Hales were incredible when it came to caring for my Mum who had a very sudden and quick battle with lung cancer. The whole team put my Mums care at their forefront and Mum had 2 incredible girls care for her in her final days. We’re so grateful to all at Hales who made Mums final days as comfortable and normal as possible, whilst also relieving us as a family. Thank you Hales 💚
