I would have given you a zero if that was an option. I reserved a car through AAA and was quoted a rate of $49.03 for a compact car. When I arrived on 10/15/26 to pick up the car I was told that you had no compact cars and I was being "upgraded" to a mid-sized car and charged a rate of $69.00. You should have honored the price that was confirmed in the reservation. That was a bait and switch tactic which is illegal. I have documentation of the original reservation. This is fraud and I am going to report you to consumer protection agencies.

I had a very disappointing rental experience at Hertz on Santa Monica Boulevard on October 10–12, 2026. I booked a small SUV with an estimated total of $325.91. At pickup I was given a Kia Sportage I did not want, and the final bill was $415.02, including a $45 upgrade charge.

When I questioned the situation, the counter employee told me I was “lucky to get a car.” I found that dismissive and unacceptable when I had a confirmed reservation and was paying for the rental.

The car also needed refueling shortly after pickup before my drive to Las Vegas. Hertz’s receipt records the pickup fuel level as 44%, well below a full tank.

I have already submitted negative survey feedback and have now asked customer relations to investigate the service, explain the charges, and provide a full refund. This experience left me very disappointed, and I would not rent from this branch again.

Terrible experience -you cannot call these people directly. It’s all a giant AI system now. I lost an item in my car and was put through customer service. Hell trying to get it back and never did. And I am a president circle member so I can’t imagine what the average person goes through trying to get customer service from Hertz. I’m going to find a new rental car company

This Santa Monica team is simply the best! I have been coming here for the longest and the manager Jay is just amazing. Best customer service and make the rental process so fast and easy.

Car I had reserved was not available. Had reserved a hybrid SUV. Got a regular small SUV with significantly worse gas mileage. Tank was only a quarter full so had to go to gas station before I could leave town.

When the car rental choice is mine I always choose Hertz. And the experience is always positive. This particular experience exceeded expectations. The gentleman at the counter made the experience pleasant and super efficient -- at pick up and drop off. Extending the rental was easy. The SUV was perfect.

Friendly and attentive customer service always. Jaren has consistently gone out of his way to make to process easy, quick and always with a smile. This is a model location and an example of how all car rental experiences should be.

Good price, great car, good experience overall

This location is my go to place for rentals. I book it online - pick up and drop off takes less than 15 mins each time. It’s quick and dependable. The guys that work here are nice, communicative and fast. I’ve booked a rental at least 8 times already in 2026.
