I have been a gold member for 10 years and have rented cars many times. I have been tolerant of the long wait times at the Hertz Tuscaloosa. This time renting though was the worst experience. I needed to extend my rental and trade it in for another one because the warning lights were on and the front sensors were not working ((I read the manual and did all recommendations) and the online prices were fluctuating like crazy so I went to the office to check and see if they could help me. I waited for an hour and 5 minutes only to be told to to come back when the manager was there and closer to my return time which was 4 PM. I went back at 3:30 and waited again for an hour and a half.
During that time I decided to check prices and I went ahead and rebooked a car rather than extending. When I got to the counter at 4:55 I was told that they would have to clean my car if I traded it in and that they didn’t have a car even though I reserved a different one. The response to the sensors was that it was just because it hit a certain mileage and that it didn’t impact use. I told them I was unable to use any of the assistants and cruise control didn't work. They would not accommodate me. Overall from fist rental to last return I spent 4 hours just waiting to talk to the agent. I cannot support that type of customer service anymore.

They provided excellent customer service from start to finish. Everyone was friendly, professional, and helpful, and the entire rental process was smooth and stress free. They made sure everything was taken care of and went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied.

I truly appreciate the great experience and would definitely recommend this car rental company to anyone looking for reliable service and a team that genuinely cares about their customers.

Showed up for my reservation 15 mins early and they didn’t have a car for us. Told us we were next on the list and would call us after lunch. Shows up 2 times to check in. Was told around 2pm all the cars had broken windshields and needs to be replaced as well as the only other car they had open was up for repo. Not sure why they would tell us that but whatever. Swore we were next on the list for cars and then my husband and I watched 4 people leave in their rented cars. When we asked why we were told they weren’t renting! They were picking up their own cars!……. We literally watched them do the pre inspection check and hand them the hertz pamphlet with the receipt so that was super cool!!! And then, after saying they had a car for us, we waited an extra 40 minutes for them to finish everything with the car and close out everything for the car to hand us the keys. No offer of compensation or discount or anything of that nature for the nearly 5 to 6 hour wait. My husband and I had a 10 Hour Drive to make for our military move which we nearly missed our deadline. So thanks Hertz! Got us in a bind and we didn’t have enough time to finish everything we needed to do before our move out which cost us almost $700 and 24 hrs of due to us not getting in at 9pm as predicted but 5am instead. All it was offered was a free day and when I responded to ask a question and give my Hertz number there was no response from your team and no credit on my account.
