Original issue sorted quickly

EDIT - I have updated my review to a 4 to reflect a very satisfactory phone call with Brian from Customer Care on 09/06/2026 who went through the issues with me and we were able to sort things out. Brian had taken the time to look into the issue and have a solution ready before calling me.

I had reviewed Holidays with Aerlingus previously and gave a high score. I changed an original booking to a different destination and found Deepak in Customer Care so helpful. For this reason I have left this review at a 2 star - Deepak was lovely, otherwise it would be a 1 star.

However I have just had a very unsatisfactory call with a different member of the customer care team when trying to change the hotel. I booked a hotel in an area that I have since discovered is a party district and I am travelling with a child. My fault, I understand there is administration costs in making changes however when I asked for a price difference on a different hotel the cost was coming in at nearly €2K more. If I go onto the website and book it as a new holiday, it is pretty much the same price as my current booking. This is complete price gouging and really disappointing. I am a loyal Aerlingus customer, I will always choose Aerlingus over another airline if possible, and was thrilled to find they had a full holiday option. This experience however has left a really bad taste in my mouth.

The Customer Care agent talked over me, it sounded like she muttered 'jesus' under her breath at one point, and while I completely take responsibility that the fault is with me on choosing the original hotel without checking out the area first, a bit more help trying to come up with a solution would have been appreciated. We now have to decide whether to go ahead with a completely unsuitable hotel for our family holiday or pay an extortionate cancellation cost. I will not book with this company again.

I sincerely apologise again for the pricing discrepancy in your earlier emails and calls, as well as the unprofessional aspects of the initial interaction. That error and the handling fell short of our standards, and I’m sorry for the added stress during your trip planning. We’ve now fully corrected the issue, with your booking updated to reflect the new accommodation at the accurate pricing.

I’ve personally reviewed the call recordings, and we take full responsibility. Your feedback has been flagged as an important learning opportunity we’ll incorporate it into our teams training to reinforce active listening, clear communication, patience, empathy, and professional conduct in all situations.

Price of holiday increased post booking!

I am extremely disapointed with my AerLingus Holidays experience.
I booked a hotel and flights for a family holiday - costing 4000 euro's for 4 nights. I paid a 500 euro deposit, and received my booking reference and confirmation email.
I then proceeded to book and pay for tickets to attend a sporting event while on the holiday (additional 600 euros).
Later that evening I received an email from AerLingus Holidays informing me that my holiday had increased in price by another 900 euro's due to a high demand for flights.
I was unwilling to pay the additional 909 euro's as the 4 nights were already very expensive.
Eventually, after several calls and emails, AerLingus Holidays refunded my booking deposit.
I am now left with tickets for a sporting event that we are unable to attend.
AerLingus Holidays should not advertise all-in holidays if they do not honour the quoted price, even when a deposit has been paid. This has been a very frustrating experience.

Thank you for getting in touch and sharing your experience. We’re genuinely sorry to hear how disappointed and frustrated you were with the booking process – we completely understand how upsetting it must have been, especially after you had paid the deposit, received a confirmation email with the booking reference, and then proceeded to purchase sporting event tickets. Our flight bookings operate on a real-time, instant-purchase basis: when the deposit payment is made and there are enough fares available for the full party on the booking, customers receive their airline tickets at the same moment as the booking confirmation.
When your deposit was paid, the booking confirmation invoice was issued, but it did clearly advise – with a highlighted warning in red on page 3 under Flight Information: "Flights Not Booked, a member of the team will be in touch shortly". A member of our Holiday Support team made contact with you within 30 minutes of the flights not booking and, unfortunately, had to advise you that the flights had failed to book due to fare increases of €909 for the full party.
We truly regret that this important information caused confusion and was not more prominently understood at the time. We fully appreciate that receiving a booking reference and confirmation email gave the impression that everything was fully secured, and we’re very sorry this led you to book the event tickets in good faith.
Over the following 24-hour period, our Holiday Support team actively worked with you to find a solution and avoid the price adjustment. We offered to rebook the holiday using different flight options and airports; we offered to extend your holiday to a 5-night stay at no additional cost to you (with us covering the extra costs); and we also explored options with our partner airlines to try to secure suitable alternatives. We were disappointed that none of these options suited your plans.
While our terms and conditions do reflect that prices can adjust in these rare circumstances, we completely understand the frustration and real financial impact this had on your family, and we take your feedback about how we communicate these details very seriously.
Once again, our deepest apologies for the inconvenience and disappointment.

Be careful

Be careful . They give u a price but by the time you go through put in all the details and pay deposit the price of my holiday jumped up €300 and the excuse they gave was live price changed within that time . Even tho when I spoke to customer service the price was still the same as advertised. This is unacceptable and fraudulent very dissatisfied with their service but I can’t cancel due to terms and conditions I will loose more money so just have to accept it .

Were disappointed to read that your recent booking experience with Holidays with Aer Lingus has resulted in you leaving the 1-star review.
You have been dealing with Maria the manager of our Holiday Support team who explained that the airline fares are based on live pricing and that the time between your quote and the confirmation of your booking was over half an hour and particularity at this busy booking period no air fare prices can be held unfortunately.
Maria has advised me that a positive resolution has been made in that we have covered €200.00 of the €300.00 price increase as a gesture of goodwill and that you have accepted this offer .
