Rude and inpatient

My session was scheduled for 11am , I was there at 10:45 and waiting anyways till 11am. As at 11am which was my scheduled time I was still waiting, the photographer came to us at 11:05am , I started my session with my son for his birthday shoot , we went in with her barely got any pictures in and before you know it she said our session was over .I then proceeded and told her that it was really fast and we started late . Then she said we came in at exactly 11:00 am SMH . I told her NO and she said I have to wait to get more pictures because of other people. How is it my fault that my session didn’t start at the right time! This is at Staten Island mall and the lady’s name was Giselle, very rude and impatient! She rushed through my photo session for my son. If I’m paying that much then I should be getting my money’s worth . After the whole session I had to wait extra 25 minutes to check out .

Not worth the money

First of all, we made an appointment for 11 am and we didn’t get pulled back until almost 11:40. Whats the point of an appointment then? We had babies that were getting tired and cranky which made the session tricky for us parents, trying to keep the babies awake and in a good mood. Then, The photographer missed so many good shots because she was looking down at her camera. She would take one picture and then sit and stare at it instead of snapping a few and then choosing the best. Overall I would not recommend. If you need something cheap and have time to wait, then maybe. Otherwise, pay a real photographer.

Great Experience

I always have such a wonderful…

I always have such a wonderful experience at JCPenney Portraits, and it is all thanks to Wesley. Every time I come in for photos, Wesley makes the entire process feel so easy and enjoyable. He truly goes above and beyond for his customers.

I absolutely love the way he takes my daughters’ pictures. Wesley always knows the perfect poses and selects the best backgrounds so their outfits really stand out in the photos. His attention to detail and creativity make such a difference in the final pictures.

What I appreciate most is his professionalism and dedication to great customer service. If any obstacle comes up during the session, Wesley is quick to find a solution and keeps everything running smoothly. It is rare to find customer service like this these days, and working with him is honestly a breath of fresh air.

I am extremely grateful for the care and effort Wesley puts into every session, which is why I felt it was important to finally write this review. It was definitely long overdue. Thank you, Wesley, for always making our photo experiences so special!

I recently had bad experience

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience that warrants formal feedback. The manager exhibited unprofessional behavior, and her staff was subpar. I question her leadership and believe she may require additional training, as this encounter was particularly poor. Initially, our appointment was rescheduled due to disorganization, with staff members checking in multiple clients simultaneously and stacking clipboards haphazardly. The wait time for our photo shoot exceeded an hour, and the photographer, who timed herself strictly to 15 minutes per session, displayed unprofessionalism.
After waiting over an hour for a 15-minute photo session and an additional 30 minutes for editing, Olivia edited my photos the worst editing I don't know how this could be approved by the manager Nikita I was shown the final product, which they personally said that shutter fly was going to re edit my photos did not justify the exorbitant prices. The attempt to rectify the situation with coupons was unconvincing. I had paid for high-quality digital photos, specifically selecting the ones I wanted, but what was delivered via Shutterfly was subpar. I contacted the manager, Nikita, who offered a refund or a re-shoot, but I declined, seeking perfection in editing and quality instead. The photographer, Abigail, was incredibly disappointing, and I question her professionalism.
Having worked with JCPenney Portraits in the past, I can confidently say this experience was one of the worst. I have also reached out to the CEO of Shutterfly, sharing my email and the photos received, which fell short of expectations. Given the $256 I paid for digital photos, I expect better quality. Tell me if my expectations are misguided or if this experience warrants criticism.

Extremely Disappointing Experience

I had an absolutely terrible experience with this company. From the moment I walked in, the customer service was unprofessional and unpleasant. The staff member taking orders smelled strongly of smoke, which made the interaction even more uncomfortable. On top of that, they pushed aggressively to upsell services I didn’t want or need.

The quality of the products was just as disappointing. The photos and printed materials I received were poorly made—blurry, smudged, and nowhere near acceptable standards. For the price they charge, the results were unacceptable.

Overall, the experience was horrible from start to finish. I cannot recommend this company and would strongly advise others to look elsewhere for better service and better quality.

The “called himself manager” at the…

The “called himself manager” at the Little Rock, Arkansas studio is very rude and arrogant. I had an appointment scheduled. I had the confirmation email for the appointment. I was there 30 minutes before the appointment. There was no one at the desk or anywhere to be found. Finally he and the photographer came from somewhere and walked past me withouts even saying hello. The photographer did come back to greet me. The “called himself manager” abruptly cut her off. He just stared at me. I said I had an appointment at certain time. He said unless I was a someone named Perez or her dog I didn’t have an appointment. I showed him the email confirmation. He treated me like I was stupid. I asked for his name. He told us refused and said he didn’t like my attitude. Which was shocking because I was being nice but was definitely aggravated. I told him I did not like his attitude either. At which point he became very condescending. He said something like you don’t know how I can be. Which actually made me giggle I asked to see the store manager. He refused and walked away. I located the assistant store manager on my own to file a complaint. Apparently he had a dinner date that was more important than a scheduled appointment. I am expecting a confirmation call from the store manager that the complaint was actually filed. I must say the assistant store manager and the photographer were very nice.

Rude manager!

The woman taking the pictures was polite and did a good job. Other than she wrote down my email address wrong, even after I spelled it out for her to ensure it was right. I did write my email down when we signed up to get pictures done, not sure why she asked me my email. The manager at the Novi, MI store needs training. When I called to ask about the digital copy given it was a week past when we were told we would get them in the email he became belligerent. They had wrote the wrong email address down, when I told him that he yelled at me and wound up hanging up on me! It was nuts, he clearly is stressed and not right for the job. Not sure how working at a studio is that stressful, but man if you are that stressed take a break!

I scheduled a 12pm appointment two…

I scheduled a 12pm appointment two months advance. Got to jcpenny and they finished the 1130am appointment and our appointment should have been next but apparently they had another appointment in front of us. Which makes 15 min sessions. That doesn't make since because it takes way longer than that. So now it 1230 and another person before us. If you can't keep a scheduled plan then why have one. Waste of our time. Don't go here unless you want to wait hrs after appointment time.

Updating my original review

I did a review before I received my photos but now I need to make some important changes. The ladies in charge and taking the photos were very nice.

When I got the photos in the mail they were nice but there seemed to be a discrepancy with the order. I didn’t say anything because I was told I could get more made at Walgreens. When I went on line to order more, over half of them would have a ‘low resolution’ pop up. It didn’t matter what size I tried to order the ’low resolution’ sign showed up.

So if the pictures are important to you, you should have them made somewhere else. Mine were important to me because they were my granddaughter’s high school graduation pictures. I will never refer anyone to JC Penney’s studio at Hamilton Place.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! We had a 12:15 appointment for a family photo shoot in Springfield, VA studio. We arrived on time but we had to wait nearly 2 hours. After that when we go to the studio the camera battery is not working and we had to wait for more until another studio is free. The whole experience is terrible.

Waste of time

This is the second time I have come to The Woodlands location in the last three months. I had to wait three hours the first time. This time I had to wait two. Ridiculous when it is a baby picture. They kept taking people back that came in after me with no communication. This will be my last time coming here.

This is the biggest scam!

This is the biggest scam! The starting price for a package was almost $300 to be shuffled in like a heard of cattle into the middle of the bedding department to take a quick bunch of lack luster photos. Save your money and contact a local Photographer and I promise you you'll get a MUCH BETTER RESULT. Then on top of the RIDICULOUS prices, they slap you with a $15 per person fee. All the pictures of my son with his glasses on had a reflection on his lenses. Then they shuffle you through them so fast and ask you if you want to pay $300 + for a package or you can get ONE photo for $70! It's a SCAM and a JOKE!! They should be EMBARRASSED of such SHADY PRACTICES.

They have horrible time management

They have horrible time management. Currently been waiting for over and hour and a half from our appt time and still 2 other appts ahead of us. Had to pay a $25 reservation fee and they have us sitting here waiting so long and could care less! Horrible customer service and even worse time management !

Big Scam Be Aware

I saw the advertisement of JC Penney portraits and made an appointment for a picture session for my family of total 4 people- According the advertisement, The payment should come to $180, that includes the sitting fee- I booked it for a Saturday at 9:30 am- so I took my mom and myself to the hair salon very early to show nice on the picture- Once we arrived on time- we were presented 2 choices of picture packages that were not what they had online but far more expensive, being the least expensive at $254, and they called it “the specials”. I insisted that was not what the advertisement was about, and that I didn’t need all the extra stuff “the special “ included, particularly because we really don’t need print outs we only required the digital stuff- The representative was uneasy and told us they can change prices at any time, even though the advertising I went for was still showing online. At this point I was there on 12/14/24 with my kids that I can hardly get together and my mom and I with the hair salon expense on us, which we had to get that session, that was not really a good job, but I still treasure the family moment. After all the preparation I felt forced to take it and minimize the loss but found completely unacceptable they put us, customers into this predicament. I must add that at the end of the final bill that was about $330, the girl at the register offered to get a membership, and I would get my payment reduced to $290+, which of course I did, since I was trying to pay the least possible. At the very end, with the tax I ended up paying $301.08, which is much more than what I was lured at paying. While I sat waiting for my turn to pay, I heard other customers talking about the same, they were young friends and I can only imagine how out of the sudden the memory ended up costing far more than expected. I feel scammed and that nobody should be taken advantage of. I saved the advertisement as of 12/15/24 and have my receipt as a truthful record of my complaint.

Your 10 year old can take better photos with his phone

JCPenny photography studio, Bossier City, LA. Absolutely ruined my sister's 90th Birthday photos. Kept her there for 3 hours, only offered 2 backgrounds. Solid colors - nothing nice. The only "prop" was a plastic rose. They cropped off the top of her hair. They offered "special" prices which were then rescinded after she took time to make decisions. They positioned the photo on the canvas so that there was lots of blank space on both sides of her. When we asked if the digital photos could be reprinted so that her hair was actually in the picture, we were told to take our business someplace else. Extremely bad photography and worse customer service

horrible experience for 21st birthday

horrible experience for 21st birthday. This photographer had no talent , just point and click a photo. I could have done better. Never again will I go here . They used to have some great ideas. Now just pick a background and sit in a chair and she shot 20 photos of different poses in the chair. Big deal

Love the digital album (look for a coupon!)

Pooja (the manager) is just an amazing person to work with! Her team are always cheerful and willing to work with us and patient with fussy toddlers and pre-teen 'whatever' attitude. We always have great pictures at the end and that is why we keep coming back.
The Santa is amazing and the 2nd year we have come for Santa pictures with him. We will keep coming back for birthday / holiday and your special events!
Macen was also a joy to work with!

We will be back!
