Generally the software is flaky. If you make a bug report they tell you to put ANOTHER report in the public list. Isn't their bug list THEIR job ? Unless the question is about licensing (aka giving them money) you don't get much sensible out of them. I would avoid them, I regret getting locked into their tool (pycharm).

Only reason I tested was cause of free trial with claude 4.

It said 30 days after typing my credit card.

After less than 1 day trial is over and now they have all my information and of course im not changing IDE for this piece of garbage.

Lying should be considered a big red flag; is not about the trial itself, I can pay claude instead of this sht but I wanted to pre-test claude vs GPT 4.1 and after 2 prompts my trial of 30 days was over.

Lying is not correct; keeping information based in lies is not correct. Jet brains is all that is wrong with AI industry and I hope soon the market is flooded with options this parasites will have no option but make it part of the IDE instead of a suscription.

Au début, c'est déroutant d'utiliser JetBrains, mais le résultat vaut ce petit effort, je trouve.
VS code semble fade après ça, l'interface est plus conviviale avec JetBrains, tout est accessible rapidement, ça reste mon point de vue hein !

J'ai même bossé avec les deux IDE ouverts sur le même projet pendant un moment, puis un jour, j'ai lâché prise, RustRover a gagné ma fidélité.

Point très positif pour moi : copilot + Assistant IA, ce qui est très pratique

Ah oui aussi, je suis bien content de profiter de mon statut étudiant, je ne sais pas si je pourrai me payer plusieurs IDE ou le pack All Product, à l'heure actuelle.
Sinon ce serait VSCODE only pour tout avec une tonne d'extensions :(

Le pack a 30 euros/mois est rentable si on travaille tout de suite en tant que dev, et 24 euros en prenant à l'année.
Sachant que le pack AI Pro est compris dedans, et qu'on utilise plus d'un IDE chez JetBrains qui ont chacun leur utilité.

J'apprends énormément grâce à l'assistant que l'on peut paramétrer, c'est mon UDEMY à la carte.

Pour un pc correct voir puissant, il ne faut pas se priver.

JetBrains au TOP !!! (version 2024 pour la compatibilité des plugins).

Je n'ai pas essayé la version 2025.

and be aware most addons on the market are subscription for "color theme" even the color theme contain other people work.

the IDE is overrated just overglazed text editor with bult-in automation i just use it because Avalonia addon.

oh you use non-commercial license? good job you need be active last 6 month and re-ask to get the licenses every year while others IDE don't have theses stupid rules.

Why am I spending money on an IDE that is rendered absolutely unusable whenever its "Indexing...", when I can just use VSCode for free which won't do this?

Bizarre that this company, when faced with a free and high quality alternative, is so committed to enraging its users? Last I recall the idea of a company is to gain customers not drive them away?

Absolutely disgraceful. Got an email that my credit card failed, so I updated it and reactivated the subscription - only to get slammed with a 24 EUR charge instead of 14. Why? Because JetBrains sneakily added an extra product to my subscription without consent. This is manipulative, predatory behavior. Only bottom-of-the-barrel, shady companies pull this kind of stunt. I expected better from JetBrains, but clearly, they're happy to squeeze extra cash through deceptive billing tactics. Total loss of trust.

Jetbrains makes the best ides and they look cool. they work well on most OSs too

We used Jetbrains for 5 years after which we accidentally bought it for 12 more months. We asked a refund but "refund is only possible within 30 days". Our request was 40 days after the purchase. Very dissapointing.

Aber das Tool nahm keine meiner Mailadressen. Eine endet auf @xxx.org - das System nimmt das als ungültig an. Die anderen auf @xx.xxxx.de - das will es auch nicht. Immer seltsame Fehlermeldungen.

Zufällig sehe ich kurz später aber Anmelde-Codes für ALLE ausprobierten Adressen im Postfach. Beim Versuch, einen Account zu erstellen, gab es aber keinen Hinweis auf einen Code - nur Fehlermeldungen.

Also probiere ich systematisch die Codes und jeweiligen Adressen durch - die zeitlich alle noch gehen sollten. Ungültig. Neu angefordert. Ungültig.
Ich verschwende hier meine Zeit und gebe ich auf. Das Tool funktiert nicht. Woran es auch immer liegt.

Tout simplement les meilleurs IDEs que j'ai pu utiliser. Le seul bémol est qu'ils m'arrivent d'avoir des freeze lors de leurs utilisations, et cela, sur différents PC. Le prix est également un peu trop chère, mais offre gratuitement leurs IDEs aux étudiants. Ce qui n'est pas la norme pour tout le monde.

I really love so much of the Intellij Ultimate app. It does all sorts of amazing things much better than something like Visual Studio code, and without having to configure a lot of them first. Just works out of the box. However, that comes with a hefty price on disk space and often speed. While it's a fantastic piece of software, it takes up a massive 4GB of disk space and often takes a while to perform certain functions because of its complexity and probably the number of files it has packaged. I wish Intellij would rewrite this using more modern, lightweight code to make it faster and smaller. This has been the case since I started using it in 2014 or so. It's time to change.

Also, the documentation is exceedingly complicated, often not-quite-complete, and confusing. It needs to be rewritten by an excellent tech writer who knows how to translate engineer into plain English. So many questions I've had to ask the tech help service that could have been answered with better documentation.

Speaking of which, their technical help is top-notch. They always respond within hours, at most 24, and will often solve things the first time. If not, they will continue to work with you as long as it takes to correct whatever issue or question you have. Some of the best tech support I've experienced ever.

My experience for being a developer for years was a blessing for me. I started using Android Studio, which is based on IntelliJ. Eventually, I switched to IntelliJ itself for Desktop software development, and as of now, I do C++ programming in CLion. Best IDEs out there. I also eventually used PyCharm and Rider, due to certain things that I had to follow at work.

However, the reason for giving 4 stars is due to IDE management. Basically, I am referring to multiple IDEs, which each IDE has a different use case, like IntelliJ for Java, CLion for C/C++, Rider for C#, and the list goes on for different IDEs. If there was an IDE from them that actually combines all IDEs into one, then I am getting it, since I have different needs for specific projects. Main reason is, when I have to use 2 languages for one project, where I use Java as the main language, with the use of IntelliJ, and C++ for JNI by using CLion. Now, for a PC that only has 16 GB of RAM, this gives me quite a few limits here, and I don't like to have to install plugins, just to have to use IntelliJ for everything, especially when CLion does things better for C++ coding.

In general, IDEs from JetBrains are good for use than VS Code with a million plugins that you have to install, where with JetBrains IDEs, you have the IDE already set up. Managing IDEs, it's not the best, but it's okay. Using multiple IDEs at once, and having a browser open, that's where my PC is starting to beg for resources being freed.

The only thing Jetbrains is good at is false advertisement.

Purchased a discounted Rider subscription and the Jetbrains page where the sale took place very clearly showed the discount would continue through yearly renewals, upon renewal time Jetbrains stated the discount isn't perpetual.

The perpetual discount is the only reason I purchased Rider (as the software itself is full bugs and inconsistencies so is definitely not worth the full price) now Jetbrains are refusing to refund the original subscription.

The customer service team didn't seem to comprehend that their website stated the discount was perpetual no matter how clearly I stated it to them (maybe I should have drawn big lines on the screenshot of the sales page to make it simpler).

So in summary I would advice to stay clear of Jetbrains, even disregarding this issue the Jetbrains products I have used (Rider, Intellij, Fleet) are full of bugs and general irritations. Fleet especially, hopefully Jetbrains see it as their future as they will no doubt certainly fail as a company if they do.

I use Rider (for development in C# for the Xamarin and MAUI frameworks). I start by saying that it used to work, with many bugs but it worked (mainly Xamarin development) most of the times.
Now the software has become completely unusable, I haven't been able to develop with it for more than 3 months now (despite having opened various tickets, obviously not resolved by support, which nicely ignores you) and I am forced to use Visual Studio for Mac (keep in mind that it will not work with the latest version 2024.x.x). As many users reported, it will drain your pc's memory (I have a Macbook Pro and with Visual Studio for Mac it works even with 6 istances opened with no problem and at least two android emulators).
I paid for this software and also a lot considering what it does, I feel betrayed and scammed by this company. If you are considering buying the license to enhance your development experience, stay away from it as much as possible and look somewhere else!
P.S. they refuse to refund you, since the period in which you can request a refund lasts only one month, so if you are like me who paid 1 year, you are screwed. Give me back my money or at least the money for the months I did not use the software!

I'm a long time (paying) user of phpStorm and the quality of the product has become worse over the last couple of years. It has become so bloated that it is hardly usable any more.

A lot of bugs are never resolved (for instance the 'find in files' does not find everything) and they tend to change the whole product so often to something completely new that you are completely lost in the thousands of settings because everything is changed and on google there is only info about older versions. Also a number of bugs are solved, but more newer bugs emerge.

Their code suggestions and code generation always misses the mark, especially for quotes and brackets so it is best turned off. refactoring is a pain, and instead of including a `use` statement they often include the whole path in front of the class.

I am considering going to VS code instead.

Le debugger de clion ne marche tout simplement plus. (gdb s'arrète mais clion ne capte pas qu'il est arreté dans un breakpoint). Plus aucune intéret a utiliser ce produit. Pareil pour pycharm, 90% des features avec les notebooks sont buggées (tqdm, ...), instables, et des features n'existent tout simplement pas (interactive plots...).

JetBrains make great products - PyCharm always works, often when tools like VSCode struggle. Of course, this matters since there is a cost to maintaining the difference.

Still, the mark of a great organisation is aftercare. What companies do after they've sold you a product. I'm sure we've all experienced being ghosted after the money is paid.

Not JetBrains! I had an account problem, and several people worked tirelessly, responded quickly, and were proactive in solving my problem (and problems are rare, having been a user for several years).

Thank you JetBrains, your help has not gone unnoticed.
