Tom Horrell, of TH&Jones Ltd, JRH Construction Ltd, and now Reno& Build Ltd. Appalling builder, unskilled team, ruined our house, took over £200,000 from us, walked off site 10 weeks ago claiming insolvency. Still active on companies house. Butchered our beautiful home and had zero respect for it when on site. PLEASE DON’T EVER CONSIDER USING THIS COMPANY - RENO & BUILD WAS SET UP 3 months before he abandoned our site, knowing full well he was going to abandon us.

Our original quotation for works by Tom Horrell was £147,500, but we ended up paying £211,000. Appalling attention to detail on every level, and shocking lack of respect for our home and belongings. The company - JRH Construction (formerly TH & Jones) claim to have gone insolvent - and as such have not been on site for 6 weeks. As yet, no detail on an insolvency agency allowing us to register as legitimate creditors. But since getting other trades in it is clear how appalling his work is. Wrong tiles on the roof, no lead, cement finishing that’s already cracking. Durgo valve in bathroom installed incorrectly causing a smell, bath not installed properly, crimped pipes, loose taps; flooring movement in main living area. Windows and doors not working because they’ve been installed so badly. We are not only paying to finish the work but paying to rectify the mistakes. In addition, Tom has proved himself incapable of project managing not only his own team, but also outside trades. Fundamentally though, he is bad at his job and he has no standards. Now trading as Reno&Build, Paul Street, London, he set the new company up 3 months before walking out on us. He and his team are nothing short of cowboys, and we regret wholeheartedly entrusting him with our hard earned life savings and much loved family home.

I engaged Tom Horrell of TH & Jones - now trading at JRH Construction - for an extension project, for which I paid around £32,000. An independent building surveyor has since reported that the work completed does not meet building regulations, citing issues such as inadequate foundations, lack of damp proof course, insufficient insulation, and incorrect roof installation. The surveyor advised that the structure will need to be taken down.
When I raised these concerns, the Tom Horrell stated that additional payment would be required for items they said were not quoted, but no clear breakdown was provided. Despite assurances, no remedial work has been carried out, and I have not had communication from them for several months.
This is simply my personal experience, supported by an independent professional report.
