Decent site, used to be much better but nowadays there are numerous overlays that crowd the game screen. What's the point in having a game hosting site if you cannot see the games, for affiliated chat promotion?

I have been playing Bit Heroes (owned by Kongregate since 2019) for nearly 2 years now. Through my time playing this game, I've learned that the Bit Heroes community is incredibly passionate and can endure through even the most difficult situations that Kongregate puts them in. However, there comes a time when enough is enough, and the community has to be heard.

Since their entrance, Kongregate and their respective Product Managers have handled Bit Heroes carelessly, and over the past year the game has slowly evolved into a train wreck (to say the least). The Product Managers have grown complacent and downright ignorant of the current state of their game and its future. All that has been holding this game together are the community managers and the tight-knit community (including most moderators, player advocates, etc.).

Customer support takes multiple days (sometimes weeks) to respond to a single ticket. In some cases, players have to send multiple support tickets for the same issue because the communication between customer support and the Bit Heroes team is horrendous.

Last year, despite vast community pushback, the product managers decided to integrate Web 3 technology into Bit Heroes. The community knew from the beginning that this was bad news and that the product managers were making a mistake. Since then, the Product Managers and Bit Heroes' development team have shown more interest in non-fungible tokens than they ever showed for their own loyal community. Not only is Kongregate (and the product managers for Bit Heroes) inept, they are also blatantly greedy.

Just recently, the community experienced by far the worst situation this game has seen so far. Due to a very simple currency conversion miscalculation, there was a server-wide rollback. More than a day's worth of progress was lost. Everything the players had accomplished in the 36-hour period was completely gone because of a simple screw-up. Purchases were lost, in-game items were lost, event rewards were lost, gacha-based prizes were lost, and even player progression was lost. Players affected by the situation had to reach out to customer support, wait for weeks (yes, weeks), and in some cases, the things listed earlier were gone forever. The team in charge (Developers, Product Managers, etc.) has even refused to return items that were outright stolen from players who had justly earned them in the first place. The situation sparked a community outrage that has been burning even up to the time of this review, and for very good reason. This is a perfect example of how Kongregate and the people in charge of Bit Heroes treat their player base. The very same players who have faithfully played their game for numerous years are treated like trash.

Kongregate and the Product Managers running Bit Heroes have a basic to no understanding of their game. They can't sympathize with their player base on a simple level. The whole company reeks of greed, and yet they are the most anti-consumer game company I have ever seen.

No person should be subjected to this kind of awful experience.

This review has been 5 years in the making.

It should be noted that Kongregate (Kong) started as a game aggregator site, similar to Newgrounds or Armorgames. This is important because they just housed other developers' games and advertised a little. So the business model was "do nothing, collect Profits".

At some point they decided they could get more money by being the developer too so they bought some of their more popular games and took over the coding. Unfortunately, the business model of doing the least possible while grabbing the most money has carried over.

New levels and features of games are hyped and then delivered riddled with bugs and seemingly no testing. Player suggestions for improvements are ignored. Fixes are generally also problematic and show the least understanding of the problem/ lowest common denominator approach to resolve.

Customer service is understaffed, often unavailable (Mon- Fri 8-5 PST only), and seem to work from a script that prioritizes non-answers and delay tactics. It's a running joke among players that you have to screenshot everything for a chance to get help and then threaten to contact the Better Business Bureau, when they will magically find the power to solve you're problem "on a one time basis".

There are coding errors that have been known and reported for years effecting player experience that aren't prioritized. If players have issues where they don't get rewards after paying, a response/ solution will be days or weeks in coming, often meaning that Apple, Android, or other partners are no longer within their terms of service to assist the customer. "Do nothing, collect Profits".

Despite this, over the weekend, there was a problem with the mobile shop which prevented players from spending money with Kong. Someone logged in (on the weekend!) and had that resolved within an hour of it being reported. Player issues are unimportant, but an interruption in Kong's money and it's immediately addressed.

One final note, Kong recently decided to do a rebrand on their logo. They decided to crowdsource a new logo, which for most companies may seem like a way to engage their community, but was obviously a cynical attempt to save some money. The announcement looked like a dark room with something hiding under a rug, and the winner was a K inside a circle on top of a column.

Even in their attempts to be clever they give away the game. It started with something being "swept under the carpet" and ended with a coin being put "on a pedestal". You seriously can't make it up.

If you enjoy being devalued as a customer, not being listened to, not being helped with your issues, and being delivered a subpar product, Kong is the company for you. Otherwise, stay clear.

If you like playing games that will cheat you, lie to you, scam you, rugpull on you, roll the game back on you, and devalue your money every step of the way, then you’re in luck, Kongregate has some games for you!
The incompetence from this company is simply amazing, how is a company able to release content and “features” to the public in the live game without testing it first or consulting with the Pro Players of the game first? Wanna know how? Because the players are the Beta Testers. That’s right! We get to pay Kong to play this game and test all the broken features and bugs when they release it live, that’s how predatory of a company they are. They don’t care about players or their time & money wasted, they just want to rake in the profits with as little expenses as needed expecting us to just be happy with the crap they deliver. The saying “Kongregate is where games go to die” holds so much truth because them beating a dead horse to get more profit out of it is their business. I’ve been playing a game called Bit Heroes for over 5 years, that was originally developed by Juppiomenz then bought by Kong, and the sole reason why I want to rage-quit now, after all that hard work over the last 5 years, is simply Kong. Just them. They’re that terrible, so terrible I want to leave the friendships I’ve made over the last 5 years just so I don’t support them any longer. They don’t care about us or the game, so why would anyone want to support that kind of greed? I know I don’t, and this last action they took with a game rollback after they released a broken feature without consulting the Pros was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Way to go Kong! Right when we thought you couldn’t do any worse, you prove us wrong yet again! So if you like playing games where only you gets cheated, go to Kong, they will love your wallet more than you. Thanks Kong. Thanks for ruining one of the best games I’ve been able to find within the last decade, job terribly done. (By the way, this is also one of their business tactics, they will try to cheat you more the more time you put into the game so it’s easier for them to get rid of you to make room for more suckers who don’t know their traps. Most of my friends who have left the game already was specifically because of Kong, not the game itself, just Kong. If that tells you anything.. DO NOT TRUST KONG.)

SH!THOLE bot server with no help to stop HACKERS!?!

Kongregate purchased a small Battle Royale .io game called Surviv in December 2019. an FAQ on the fandom provided plenty of promises for 'new and improved content'. the developers delivered several limited time events and cosmetic- filled seasons in the following months. Sadly, around November, the final real update to the game was made. no new content was even half rumoured to be ready to drop. the game went stale quickly, and the devs were seemingly unaware. what had a lot of potential to grow from a simple battle royale was abandoned without a word of communication, which I think is the worst part. The community managers have been cold and unopen to questions, and banned about 2/3 of the discord community when they grew impatient for any news. If the game was impossible to fix due to spaghetti code or sorts, a word would have helped. I have been in love with this game for a long time, but I think it's time I step away and stop being hopeful for change that will never come.

They continuously host offerwalls knowing there is an issue passing the proper ID. So almost 1/2 of all offerwalls require support intervention. Even with the developers admitting that there is an issue, Kong the company takes no responsibility, multiple people have paid hundreds of dollars for offerwalls that never were paid out. Thereby committing fraud regularly through its embedded offerwalls. It's unfortunate, the games they push are great, but the way they handle incoming funds is scandalous.

games valued by real money. Sometimes the challenges are hard but there is usually always a challenge you can complete. Once in a while the gems take a few weeks to come in, I have gotten my points every challenge I have completed.

Very bad. Having an account on this site, I installed the game through Steam (Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards). I'm trying to log into my account - "Invalid username or password". Ok. I just go to the site, when I try to login - "You have attempted to login too many times in a short period. Please try again later". The FAQ suggests waiting 24 hours (!!!) for a similar problem and trying again. In 24 hours I will be kicked out of the guild. In general, I had to change the password. I recommend using this site with caution.
P.S.: the chat is full of spammers offering to "check out the naked photos".

Man what is the problem with your game(Bit heroes) mods like lilsploosh be mean to me and the whole chat be against me yet I have been muted for 7days what is the problem with each and every of your game!
Every mod is so toxic like toxicity lvl of blutonium like wth is wrong with the mods the muted me three times a day yet I said nothing wrong speaking is my right.

This is the site where I spent my childhood, played a lot of fun games and found many friends, the game chat next to the games is a great idea!

Hi! So Kongregate, in my opnion its a very good page for playing free games and doing varied things, anyways I wouldn't recommend paying for anything in this page because of the reputation of this one.
There are some things that could be upgraded.

1-I have a good internet and the page is laggy.
2-Random data loss.
3-Chat sometimes lags. (This could be a PC glitch)

Anyways for me, it's a very good page for playing free games and that's all, I don't see necessary to buy any premiums or anything, the 3 stars are for the things previously mentioned and because of their reputation.

The admins use bias judgments when it comes to being reported. the things you are reported for may be correct, the punishment you get is over of what it should be. the admins do nothing to actually take away the real toxic people and target innocent people like me. for a true story: i was chatting and filter dodging and then someone else did the same thing. i got silenced, they didn't. do you really want to visit a site that acts like this? think about it.

Probably one of the worst customer service so far. They never answer any questions and never try to solve any problems.

Does not answer emails in any kind of timely manner. Does not support customers that IronSource screws out of Offer Wall Rewards.

Me: Okay. That doesn't give me any information... If there was a purchase issue, why cannot I not rectify said issue? I'm unaware of any purchasing issues, and was never notified. I am getting a PC on Friday and wanted to play games as I haven't had a pc since 2016. How would someone get banned for "purchasing issues" in the first place? Suspend the account and notify the user? Is this legitimate or a joke that took me 3 years to find? I dont mean to be rude, but I'm seriously at a loss for words.

Them: Here's a bit of history for you:
This account was noted as having been tied to a credit card or PayPal purchase that may have been at risk. We reached out 3 times via email over the course of several weeks, banning the account temporarily twice in the process to attempt to force contact.
To protect your financial security, we banned the account and refunded any recent purchases at that time.

Me: I have never been told why... What exactly happened? I highly doubt that Kongregate cannot unban accounts they own... And I've literally never been told what happened... I've spent money on your website and never been told why I was banned outside of "billing issue"... What does that even mean?

I never received a response after this.
On top of this, I never received any correspondence about having card issues. I wouldn't have thought to check them anyway, as there was literally no problems with my card. I made my purchases and moved on. The only reason they could have card issues is if they were trying to charge me after said purchases, which wouldnt make any sense. I have since went through my emails from them, and have nothing saying that at all. I do however have emails from them after my account was banned advertising video games. This doesnt make sense to me, and unfortunately, with such terrible customer service, I have no intention of spending money on their site again. Stay away, a "billing issue" resulted in all my progress being removed, and I did nothing wrong.

My card had some ban put on it by my bank. I was on holiday at the time and Kongregate give me 1 week to sort it or I would be banned from purchasing permanently.

I never got this email due to being on holiday so now I have a constant IP ban that will never be lifted.

They are essentially a disgrace and have no proper customer support.
