Lowick McKay error on LPA application
Initially contacted Lowick McKay through freewillsmonth.org as recommended by Martin Lewis on his TV programme. Lowick McKay were the nearest solicitor to us on the list. At the appointment we went through the will making process and then discussion turned to addressing the Lasting Power of Attorney. We agreed for Lowick McKay to carry out the creation of Lasting Power of Attorney. The problem came when myself, my wife and our two sons came to register the LPAs online. Part of the LPAs for one of my sons relating to his mother, would not register. I contacted Lowick McKay and was advised I needed to contact the Office of the Public Guidance to see what the problem was. This I did and was informed that the wrong date of birth for my son had been entered for the part of the LPA relating to his mother. The correct date of birth had been entered relating to my son and myself. As all the data was entered online the error was due to to whoever entered the data doing so incorrectly. As the data was entered by Lowick McKay, it meant it was their error, especially as the correct date of birth had been entered for the part of the LPA relating to my son and myself. We sent ID proof of the DOB of my son and the Office of the Public Guidance corrected the date of birth. Unfortunately they then pointed out that now that the date of birth had been corrected online, it would not match the paper copy of the LPA and so my son may have problems using the LPA if and when the time comes for him to have to use it.
Contacted Lowick McKay on the 29/04/26, followed up by four phone calls and two emails and one letter of complaint requesting a reply within seven days. Nobody has got back to me yet (eight days after the letter of complaint was delivered to them in person) to explain how they intend to rectify the mistake created by their error. I did get a call back from their receptionist following my fourth phone call suggesting I speak to their office manager and she would get her to ring me the next day (21/05/26). Although waiting expectantly all day I received no call from their office manager. Hence the one star rating still applies. Will keep posting reviews weekly until they have rectified their error.
