Beware of Luxembourg Art Prize

As I had been an artist in a creator space at the Luxembourg Art Prize for a few years (keeping it around cause I am an optimist), this week I received a so-called certificate via email from them, telling me that I have been chosen for my artistic skills and therefore have been given this special certificate.
It is what looks just like a hastily made up piece of cheap copy, plus there was a long winded writ in the email, which is supposed to encourage me to tag somebody, no idea who that is.
The entire thing looks rather like a phishing attempt, so I got rid of it all.
Low and behold, these so-called certificates are popping up all over social media now - artists thinking that they have actually been specifically chosen because they are outstanding artists.
Obviously anyone who had ever been registered, has been emailed that weird looking certificate, it is the opposite of special.
I left the Luxembourg Art Prize behind when in 2022 it became obvious that it is only about scamming artists out of their money - they charged €55 for the submission of artwork - but in 2022 upped the scam ante by offering artists to submit 3 times a` €55 each time to better their chances towards winning the prize! So, €165 for those 3 submissions, what a hoot.
Artists beware!
Whatever is going on with that weird certificate that is absolutely nothing special at all, don't think that these guys are interested in your art. They want your money, that much is clear.
That "fabulous" art prize is nothing more than a carrot, dangling in front of your eyes. Don't fall for it, be smart.

great opportunity, tough competition

I just feel I should write a review after seeing a lot of negative reviews. Its is an international competition that is very well recognized and very tough competition. The likelihood of becoming a finalist is not guaranteed because it encompasses artists from every country. The rules and process are clearly outlined, there are 3 groups to apply to and the whole competition takes place throughout the year and announcements are made towards the end of the year.
I feel after reading some of the reviews that some people didn't read the process, rules or maybe applied through a scam website as opposed to the actual website?? But my experience was very professional.
I think it's important to remember that when you apply for any competition, there are no guarantees, especially when applying for a competition, they only pick a few from thousands of extremely talented amazing artists and thats just the nature of most competition.

Shameless act!

Good day!
Hello!
Well, now I have something to tell. So. As I wrote above, I am an artist in Germany and participated in the Luxemburg Art Prize in 2021. I paid for 2 groups. Then they sent me a letter where to download the certificate. I have downloaded. On the certificate there is a Quarcode by which you can go to the site and make sure that the certificate is real. I checked in 2021 everything was ok. A month ago I decided to check my certificate. And she was amazed. result: the certificate was obtained fraudulently and was taken by the museum. How do you like this turn)? Naturally, I began to write to the museum. I was told that my certificate was a fake and no one gave it to me because I did not deserve it.
I can show the certificate itself and everyone can be sure that the museum gave it to me!!! The worst thing about this is that all my clients could go through the quar code and see this slander against me that I deceived someone.
That is: the Luxembourg Museum gave me a certificate (if anyone is interested, write to the soap, I will send you and you will make sure that it is real), then quietly took it away and also wrote that I deceived them.
Then I began to write to the Museum… can you imagine my condition? I wanted to understand how I deceived them. To this I was answered that I was not given a certificate because I did not deserve it. To my indignation and the certificate that I sent them so that they could see for themselves that it was genuine. They did not answer. Then I wrote to them that I would contact a lawyer who gave them the right to slander people.

To this they already wrote that they don’t like my threats and I behave badly, so I deserved to be forgotten forever. By their rules. What my deception was, no one explained to me.

But there was no deception. Then I wrote to them that I have all the screenshots of the correspondence and in the properties of the pdf file you can see that it was created by them and, according to the result of the quarcode, it says “returned”, which means it was issued. The museum also quietly took this and changed the result according to the qar code. And now it shows that such a certificate does not exist.

So. Who wants to look at the certificate and screenshots of their answers, please contact. I have already written to the Luxembourg police. No one has given this museum the right to behave like this.if I had not checked the code, I would still and then not know anything!

Best Regards!

Viktoria Wagner

I entered for this prize that I saw…on facebook

I entered for this prize that I saw online. I thought it sounded great, but now I am having serious worries I fell for an art scam. I am a struggling artist also working as a waitress on minimum wage. I thought the fee was high for me, £75 to enter. But I did early. Now I not heard any news but who knows if I get in. But in the meantime I am being constantly being emailed to enter again and again, 3 times, with an email saying I get a 2nd and 3rd chance, and each time I can increase my chances they could select me because they select in 3 lots, meaning, you upgrade your odds of being selected the more you pay. I cannot pay £225, that's more than a whole weeks wages for me. This does not seem right. Its like pay to play schemes. Sucking money from poor artists, so rich people can have a ball.

Feel like the criteria and style of the prize is not clearly defined

Never participated, but feel like it's one of those prizes which can sound really big to lots of party folk in the art industry, but might not mean much to the serious ones...
The finalists and winners go in many ways and don't share much in common. The entry fee is quite a lot. HMMM. I feel like the criteria is not clear, and one should put their money in the hat if they have plenty of it.

Don't trust bad reviews

As with all art awards, those who aren't finalists say it sucks and go wild on the negative comments. It's normal to be suspicious when you don't know. But this artistic prize is one of the most recognized prizes for its seriousness and one of the most prestigious. The jury is made up of some of the most respected personalities in Europe. Yes, there is competition and it is difficult to be shortlisted. Everyone wants to win, and that's normal. But if it was easy, it would have no value. I have been participating for a few years and I have 100% confidence.

Money hole

I participated because I was in a time of need and regretted it almost instantly.
There is no safeguard, no control on practices, no guarantee anybody will review your art, and most importantly, they are preying on artists in difficulty to fund their prize pool and generate benefits.
Just avoid it.

The Luxembourg Art Prize is a Sham

The Luxembourg Art Prize : => Yet another on of those... Scams... Its a ruse, no one in the actual Art World cares about thi irrelevant Event. In my humble opinion, and I am making a good living in ART for 35 YEARS now , this is an utter waste of money alltogether. The judges are Nobodies. The website is an utter mess, confusing and miss-labeled wording and vocabulary, which can only originate from people, who sold cars before, but have never looked, nor bought, nor sold any ART before. My advice save your money , the exposure for a new Artist will be equal to NONE , when participating in this sham.
