I should have mentioned in my review that the quality of the canvas is superior to any I have found in the UK and the colour match for the customised paintings I have done is spot on. Please sort your customer care out.

Horrible custom color match

I purchased a custom painting kit from MBN. They sent the printed canvas, paints, and a photo of the painting I ordered.

The color match was horrible. My wife is fair skinned, but their colors made her look much darker and very red. Also, there was no nuance in her cheek colors such as lighting, etc. it looks totally flat. Even the color for her teeth was bizzare, lavender not white.

I contacted the company to request that they fix the colors or refund my $56. They said that the computer coloring isn’t wrong even though I sent pictures. They also said there is no refunds custom paintings.

I would never do business with a company who won’t back up their products.

Do NOT recommend

I place a $179.55 order. The framed canvas was damaged during shipping and the brushes came broken. The framed canvas was not packaged well. There was nothing in there like air plastic or popcorn so when the box got smashed the canvas got smashed. I emailed them to let them know about the brushes which was a quality control issue and the canvas. I didn't even ask for my money back because I use my own brushes anyways and the canvas could be taken apart and reframed. The awful customer service accused me of ripping apart the brushes and said she would get back to me. She also requested pictures of the shipping box which i sent. It was obvious that it was shipping damage and she ghosted me. Why would I rip apart brushes only to email you saying you might want to check your quality control. I didn't even ask for a discount or my money back? I didn't break anything and I was treated like crap for just trying to be helpful. Don't buy from them.

Complete rubbish in all respects.

Without any exaggeration, this is the worst company I have ever dealt with online. Their customer service is rude and aggressive, their delivery times are outrageously slow and the quality of the goods are on a par with what one can buy (new) on eBay for a tenth of the price…… my advice is to avoid these jokers as if they had the plague.

The worst company I have ever dealt with

I ordered 3 painting kits as presents for my family. After looking at the website I queried how they would be sent to then discover all canvases, paints and brushes were sent altogether in one tube. I asked to cancel the order as I thought having to the source my own packaging with the additional costs was not worth it. It was not cancelled instead I got an email to say it's been shipped.
When it arrived I discovered they had only sent 2 of the paintings.
I contacted them to subsequently be called a liar with them insisting they had sent all 3. They kept going on about the weight of the parcel, how it was more than if 2 were sent. I then weighed the items and added on the weight of another canvas, paint and brushes. The weight was more than stated on the tube, clearly showing that 3 had not been sent.
They deliberately only sent 2, will only refund me if I send back 3 paintings which is impossible as I never received 3.
Absolutely disgusting company, completely dishonest and should not be allowed to trade.

Paint colours not resolved and no customer service

After sending a picture of my brown German Pointer dog to have transferred to a canvas I received many variations on the grey theme for my paint pots. After painting half the dogs face I quickly realised there were two paint colours exactly the same (dark grey), and the numbers were next to each other on the canvas and were pretty much the whole face of the dog. Consequently the face features have just blended into one whole dark grey blob. After several emails all you receive back is a bog standard reply which is not even relevant to my initial complaint that the two colour pots were identical, the reply is basically stating you need to finish the painting first to view it properly. Issue still not resolved or answered and painting is completely useless as it is. Waste of £50 don’t use!

Very pleased customer of MBN

I am likewise very surprised at the poor reviews. I ordered 3 paintings. I completed the 1st one in about a week and started the second. My shipping was about 7 days and everything was present in the kits. I loved my first painting results and look forward to working on the next 2. I had no problems at all to be involved with customer service but I am sure I will order more and look forward to doing custom photos in the future. Recommended not to "avoid at all costs". Very pleased customer!!

The good the bad and the ugly!

Having had two very good experiences ( 1 custom & 1 not )using this company I happily ordered my 3rd a custom painting of my friends dog.
After starting the painting I quickly realised that the colours which had been sent were not the colour of Tilly.She is white/cream not grey! With a tan patch not black.
I contacted MBN on lots of occasions only to be met with the same response ..just paint it and it will blend! Not sure how this is supposed to miraculously change the dog to the right colour!
Sadly they have offered no resolution at all to my problem which judging from other reviews is an issue for others too.
Obviously they don't really care if you are satisfied or not and sadly I am unable to complete the painting as it would look completely wrong.
Avoid this company because if something isn't right you get no where.

Brilliant product and service

I’m stunned by all the negative reviews on here. I’ve been ordering from them all through lockdown (literally one order per month) and I’ve never had a late delivery or any issue with the quality of the product.
All of the paintings I’ve received have had the right paint, the right details and excellent quality canvases. As I’ve purchased so many paintings over the last year they even contacted me to offer me a free painting of my choice and they also sent me a set of their brushes with the painting, too. The customer service team were also so friendly and kind.
I can’t fault them in any way and will continue using them for as long as possible. I would definitely recommend them (and do to anyone who will listen).

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - THEIR PRODUCT IS TERRIBLE. This company are the worst I have ever dealt with. I paid almost £60 for a customised print of a photo. The skin tones in the photo are bright orange, there is no light and depth and the face is distorted. My daughter's eyes are piercing blue, but in the customised rendition, they are brown and there was no blue included in the colour pallet. When I complained, I was advised that the colours were true and the bright orange tone was down to my daughter's makeup. They refused to give me either a refund or a replacement (which is illegal, as they are distance sellers) and further advised me that their product is 'fantastic' . Having used many other companies, who charge half the price of Masterpiece by numbers, I can guarantee you, that their product is anything but fantastic. Sub standard and lacking quality is more truthful. I paid them in good faith and I am now left with a useless item that will go in the bucket, and still £60 down. I intend to make it my business to warn as many people as possible to avoid this company as I can't imagine this customer review will make it onto their website.

Missing paint in kit

Missing paint in kit , aftersales is terrible they have now chosen to ignore my emails , even telling me to check under my sofa for the missing paint. Buy from another company I wish I had as this was a gift for someone.

Very poor show from this company

Very poor show from this company. Hermes delivered parcel to a completely different address and lost it. Masterpiece by numbers where very unhelpful. They assumed I was lying and came across very passive aggressive in their correspondence. I even mentioned Trust pilot reviews in the email I sent and they got kind of angry. So much for customer care.

They may actually have many "satisfied customers" according to their reviews on their own website, but it's strange that there are no bad reviews at all, which is why all us mistreated folks come here to complain.

Found a better and more professional alternative out there.

Poor Customer Service for Easy Issue to Solve

Let me begin by listing the positives.
- Excellent canvas
- Good quality paints
- Interesting choices for PBM sets
- Good value for the money
My situation with the company turned negative after realizing that there was no possible way that at least one of the colors for my first project had nearly enough paint in the pot to complete the project. I wrote an email to their customer service team, informing them of the situation as being some sort of likely packaging issue and a request for them to send me another paint pot so I could complete the project.
Instead of an apology and a commitment to resolve the issue by simply sending me more paint to make up for an issue on their side, instead I was informed that this issue could not their fault, no one else had complained about not enough paint, and the only way the situation could be resolved was for me to personally buy a new $6.99 paint set. What an incredibly petty response for such a small cost to retain my business and earn a solid review.
Furthermore, after it became clear they had no intention of resolving the issue, I submitted a 2 star review, praising their product but expressing my disappointment with their customer service response. No use of offensive language. Just the facts of the matter. Was the review posted? No, which very much explains why their reviews on their site are exceptionally good. Makes sense now, especially after reading reviews from other folks here.
Furthermore, the claim that no one else has issues with enough paint is simply false based on multiple reviews I have read not only on their own site but other sites where customers call out not enough paint.
Finally, I requested my concerns be forwarded from their President Nance to the CEO James Leon who seems like a nice guy from the marketing videos. One would assume would be interested in resolving the matter. My request was met with a reply from Nance "We have provided the necessary information that you requested and will have to decline further discussion regarding this matter".
So I have to wonder to what extent Mr. Leon as the CEO is aware of the poor customer service. Does he know? Does he care? Does the company do the math on customer retention costs? Is this his policy to not address legitimate customer concerns just to save a few $? Mr. Leon needs to know the truth about issues with his product and his customer service leadership and send me a direct response to my issue if he has the leadership skills one expects from a CEO. I still have hopes for resolution of the matter at his level, but my hopes are fading fast.

CAVEAT EMPTOR (BUYER BEWARE)...

I ordered 3 Kits from this place about 8 or 9 days ago. Since I had never ordered from them before, I didn't realize until a day after I placed the order that they weren't selling what I thought they were selling. (I thought I was buying PBNs on artboard, but what they actually sell are on canvas--which I don't want.) I called and left a message, telling them that I wanted to cancel (and I called them BEFORE they shipped my order. In fact, according to the UPS tracking info, I called them before they even created a shipping label for my order) but it took them 2 days to get back to me--and by then, the order had been shipped (and the order was shipped after I had left them a message, canceling the order). At any rate, I spoke to "Nancy" today (who kept interrupting and talking over me), who told me that if I wanted to return the order for a refund, I'd have to pay for the shipping and when I pointed out to her that I had left a cancel message before they even sent my order, she basically told me that that was too bad for me. (Her excuse was that they get back to people in the order received, which sounds like crap to me, since a cancellation call should take priority.) In any case, as a disabled woman, I can't afford to throw away $10 for a shipping fee that was their fault, not mine. Buyer Beware...

Pleased with MBN

I have purchased 13 kits and with one exception’Leopards Gaze’ where I had issues with the colours, I have been very pleased with the service provided, always helpful and friendly, delivery times and the finished products (both custom and catalogue).

I am very surprised at the very high percentage of bad & poor assessments. I can only speak from my own experience. They are however more expensive compared with other suppliers.

they have stolen £99.75 from me

ordered 3 painting kits on the 5th december, was told delivery would be before christmas. then told it would be January 5th so i emailed (there is no phone number to call) every day for a week trying to change the delivery address to go straight to the recipient. they then said it was too late. so i reordered (paid £53.85) with the recipients address . that was 5 weeks ago and its still not been delivered (they said 5 working days!!) i have emailed a few times again and of course, no reply. they have basically stolen £99.75 from me.
If you try to leave a review on their site (which has 98% glowing reviews) they are vetted before they go on the site by their own team!!!! so basically its a massive con.
I am about to make an official report to trading standards.
absolutely disgraceful company.

Great painting! Horrible customer service!

I ordered from them previously and received a really beautiful painting, arrived in about 2 month’s time, and no issues. After recommending it to a friend, she then ordered one for me as a Christmas present. However, she wrote the wrong delivery address in and realising this, she quickly tried to change it after a few days but they said it had already been shipped (funny how this was shipped in a few days but the first one didn’t ship until a month later). When it arrived to the wrong address, the tenant refused the package as it obviously wasn’t theirs, so the package was shipped back to Masterpiece By Numbers. My friend has asked for them to refund her the original purchase so she can buy a new one but they’ve refused her a refund even though they have gotten their painting back. They then threatened to press charges on her if she continued to message them for a refund and even refused service to her so she wasn’t able to buy me a new painting as a gift. I’m fine with not receiving this again after knowing what they had put her through and will DEFINITELY not be buying from this company ever again. They’re good when everything goes well, but god forbid if one thing were to go wrong, rest assured you’re basically never receiving your masterpiece by numbers.

Avoid this company at all costs

Avoid this company at all costs. Not received my order after 3 weeks and no entries on tracking. Customer service are very rude and clearly couldn’t care less about either customers or service. Look how many poor reviews there are!

High quality product

Reading the poor reviews I thought I ought to share my experience. I received a painting for a birthday gift and it kept me fully occupied for over a month. I am delighted with the final painting and have already ordered my second. Delivery is slow so bear this in mind when ordering. I placed an order for a Christmas gift in good time but it didn’t arrive until 30th December. So, plan ahead, and hopefully you won’t be disappointed.
