Excellent hiring experience

I've recruited a number of tech roles through Maxwell Bond and I would have no hesitation in recommending them. My main point of contact, Riana has always taken the time to really understand the requirement and there ability to find candidates that match the brief is the best I have seen.

An example of this was 4 contract roles that went out to around half a dozen agencies, but we ended up placing all 4 candidates through Maxwell Bond which speaks for itself.

Very Supportive

Working with Riana Butler has been a pleasure. Her continuous contact leading up to the interviews with hints, tips and good luck wishes was immensely appreciated. The contact after was just as good if not better. With words of advice and support she made leaving a business I had been at for nearly 10 years a lot easier. Thank you for landing me a role that I think is absolutely ideal for me. Mike

Ghosting

I was contacted by Maxwell Bond couple of weeks ago, recruiter promised me a couple of interesting opportunities, then asked me for reference and then just disappeared. I tried calling and emailing but she didn't get back to me in 2 weeks. It's totally fine if the opportunity didn't work out for some reason but I think ghosting is not the best way to treat people.

From a candidate's perspective

From a candidate's perspective: I was listed as available for contract work, and was cold-contacted by "Amy-Louise". I was more than suited to to the position, so would have added additional value to their client. She stated it was urgent, so I replied with CV that day. Since then, not a peep. Tried contacting via their website. Again, no response.

I do not know if they are just scamming CVs, or just have the worst possible candidate service, but from now on I will be calling out any agencies that perform this appallingly.

Agencies are paid an extortionate amount of money for their placement services, but it is becoming apparent many are just acting like call centres.

false promises and terrible service

Hands down the worst business experience we’ve ever had. Our experience went from bad, to very bad, to even worse.

Blatant lies, false promises and terrible service. The recruitment agency that gives recruitment agencies a bad name. We ended up with no hires and over 6k in costs to Maxwell Bond on top of other fees. Overall around 10k in the hole.

We engaged with Maxwell Bond last year in order to make a hire for us that on the surface, they seemed fully equipped to do so. They promised us candidates that were “top class” and “fully vetted” however unfortunately, it turned out not to be the case.

After having a couple of candidates from them, we made a hire, someone who we were assured on multiple occasions came from the exact background we needed with the exact skill set (the most important thing was having dealt with clients, a number of them and being a strong communicator and technically strong also).

Once we had hired, it was evident that this was not the case. We flagged our concerns back to the agency on multiple occasions and were reminded of the rebate period straight away. The agency offered to talk to the candidate and see how they were finding it but this took quite a few days in itself. One of the first things they passed on as feedback was that the commute was taking it’s toll (we laboured when starting to work with them that any successful candidate would need to be in the office with us 3 days a week and this was non negotiable).

We questioned with the agency multiple times whether the candidate had client facing experience and we were told he had dealt with multiple clients at a time, and did the end to end client communication. This was clearly not explored with the candidate as they were evidently not experienced in this area and were already starting to lose us clients and long standing relationships were being disrupted.

We kept the agency up to date at all time with how the candidate was getting on, but in all honesty, they didn’t seem to care too much as long as they made it through their rebate period.

We’d already started interviewing candidates through Maxwell Bond as the recruiter had made me aware of the free replacement option that we were entitled to. We did find a suitable candidate in this time and we were progressing through our interview process with her.

Ultimately I called the recruiter to tell them we would be letting said hired candidate go as at this point, we had lost a substantial amount of revenue due to this person, and immediately I was chased about the payment for this candidate. They were still in rebate, and I don’t know how much clearer I could have made it that they were not suitable, plus we had been told we were entitled to a free replacement!!!!

We agreed with the agency when the candidate had been offered, that they would be our free replacement and on signing of the offer letter and contract we would make payment for them (which was actually more than the terms on this candidate however we didn’t have time to hang around) and we were told she was incredibly bought in and would be looking to accept immediately.

This is when they went silent! I was chasing day after day for the paperwork, and was told on multiple occasions “everything is fine she’s still on board, nothing has changed” this went on for a week with me having to chase. Eventually, they found it in them to tell us that the candidate wouldn’t be joining us over a week later.

Overall, I wouldn’t use Maxwell Bond again, we have since incurred a number of substantial costs due to their inability to screen candidates and also deliver what has been promised. Approach them with caution!
