Extremely Disappointing
Extremely Disappointing – Nothing Like What We Booked
My partner and I booked a week all-inclusive at MGM in Portugal expecting a relaxing 5-star holiday. Based on what was advertised, we believed we were booking a resort with its own private beach, 14 restaurants, 6 bars and a nightclub, all as part of the resort experience.
By God, were we wrong.
At the hotel itself, there is one main pool, with one bar next to the buffet area, and another bar near reception. That is pretty much it. The restaurants, bars and other facilities that made this resort sound so impressive are actually spread across different resorts.
If this had been made completely clear when we booked, we could have made an informed decision. Instead, we arrived expecting everything to be available within the resort we had paid to stay at.
We came here specifically to relax for a week, but instead it has been an absolute shit show. Rather than being able to enjoy the facilities we thought we’d booked, we’re having to work out where everything actually is and travel between different areas/resorts just to access what was advertised as part of the holiday.
Trying to get help has made the situation even more frustrating. We’ve struggled to find a representative who speaks enough English to properly understand our concerns, meaning we’ve been unable to get clear answers or any meaningful resolution.
The biggest disappointment is that this is advertised as a 5-star, all-inclusive experience. From what we’ve experienced so far, it simply doesn’t live up to that description. When you pay for a 5-star all-inclusive resort, you expect the facilities and experience advertised to actually be available at the hotel you’re staying in — not to discover after arriving that most of them are somewhere else.
We saved, booked and travelled to Portugal expecting a relaxing week away together, and instead we’ve been left feeling misled and extremely disappointed.
At the moment, the only thing about this holiday that feels 5-star is the weather.
I would strongly recommend that anyone considering booking here carefully checks exactly which facilities are physically located at the hotel you’re booking, and which ones are actually located at other resorts, before paying.
