Before getting into the details, let me start off by saying Geoffrey Miller are one of the, if not the, best firm to represent you in a motor offence.

It started in January of 2022 when I was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and subsequently charged with a failure to provide a breath specimen.

We went through several initial discussions with Catherine on the lines of defence that can be used and after many case management hearings my case was listed for September 2022. The judge did not show up and the case was heard in the lower court in January 2023.

Despite, what I thought was a very strong case and excellent representation in the court by Phillip Lucas, the judge ruled against us. We were able to get the minimal sentence.

We decided to appeal because of our belief that the case is strong and our appeal should be upheld in the crown court. And then last week, I was acquitted of the charge and came out with a totally clean record.

The costs are high, but if the stakes are high you don't want to compromise on the quality. They were very responsive throughout the 1.5 years and extremely professional and thorough. Catherine ensured a complete understanding of the case, its preparation, and identifying the right expert witnesses.

And a special word of Phillip Lucas. His cross-questioning of witnesses, prioritisation of arguments, and calm demeanour needs to be seen to be believed. My previous experience of courts had been limited to TV and movies, but don't see how many barristers can be better than him.

Two final points of advice who is caught in a situation like I was:

1. Do a thorough examination of your case on your own and make sure you have lengthy discussions on all points that come to your mind. The stakes are too high not to do so.

2. Try and arrange a conference with the barrister (there is an additional fee for this) prior to the hearing. It really helps in making sure everyone is on the same page and builds a rapport with the person who will be representing you in court.

Absolutely brilliant and hopefully I won't have any need for them ever again with the totally clean outcome I got in the end.

All i can say is thank you, unfortunately this was the second time round with GM, Firstly was a drunk driving charge last august, was acquitted of all charges, Secondly was a failing to provide charge which i was acquitted of yesterday, special thanks to Catherine who always keeps me up to date via email and phone call, amazing service!! After being arrested, 2 days before Christmas, for driving with excess alcohol I thought it was inevitable that I would loose my license (+ additional consequences) for a sustained period of time. As far as I was concerned there were no mitigating factors, this was a black and white case to which I was bang to rights.
I initially contacted GMS for legal representation for my hearing where I intended to plead guilty.
Immediately GMS presented me with an option to plead not guilty, this was mind blowing to me, however they shared their success statistics and having read every review it seemed like a possible option.
I was supported throughout the whole process by Elizabeth Morrice and was given honest reassurance throughout.
I pleaded not guilty at the initial hearing and the trial was set for 6 months later.
As the trial approached it felt like the avenues for successful acquittal were closing on me and I couldn't see any hope and was resigned to being found guilty at trial.
On the day of the trial I was represented by Mr Phillip Lucas. The case was was dismissed prior to the trial commencing as a result of a successful technical/ legal matter and I was fully acquitted + awarded costs...!
Mr Lucas was incredible, it was like watching a Pub football team play against Brazil, there was only going to be one winner when things got underway.
I can not explain the relief of being acquitted from what I thought was a hopeless case.
The process is (re-assuringly) expensive and the 6 months waiting for trial was torture, but to walk away free from conviction was priceless.
If you feel like all hope is lost, then believe me, it is not.

Received expert advice and representation for a failure to provide case. I only read and heard positive reviews. I think it would have helped me if I had seen the outcome of a lost case. As you can imagine it cost me a huge amount of money and I now wish I had represented myself as this would have been much less damaging. I regret very much the decision to spend so much money on lawyers. I also regret pleading not guilty and I don't believe that I ever had a good chance of winning like I was led to believe. I wish I had just been honest as the result for me would have been vastly better and would have saved me thousands of pounds. The stress caused by this loss of money has been very difficult to deal with and I feel I made some very stupid decisions in this whole process. If I could go back I would represent myself and plead guilty and I'd be a lot more well off than I am today. I feel that the lawyers should have been more honest with me that my case was extremely weak. Early on the Magistrate appeared to be against me and I wish I had followed my gut and pulled out early on when I saw how he initially reacted to my case which got dragged out for many months added additional and unexpected costs. Again this put me through considerable stress and ended up costing over double what I was originally quoted which is something I am very upset about still. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I would highly recommend their services to all. From the first telephone conversation we were impressed with the professionalism, knowledge, guidance and genuine care we received. Communication was excellent throughout our dealings, with regular updates via email and phone. And the outcome was what we hoped for.
