Ian is a perfect example of the company.

Went in today and spoke with Ian, who in my opinion, is the perfect representative of the company. He asked what I wanted (portable freezer and cooking station) and explained the pros and cons of each one that they had on display. I didn’t feel rushed into making a decision. Ian is a credit to the company and I’ll definitely be back.

OK taking money

Always used outdoor action for all my outdoor clothing and footwear until now purchased pair of boots they leaked.
No refund or replacement they put leaking boot in bucket of water fo 15 mins and said it was dry. your sock must have been wet or water got in top. I'm 15 stone and after a days wear in light rain around town they leaked.
This firm are all about the money and not the customer .
Thank you for taking time to reply.
Once again the boots LEAK
Member of your staff told me boot goes in a bucket of water with a bottle of pop to weight it down I also asked would it be OK to return when they are wet inside
Answer to that was no they do not leak .
It has put me of shopping at independent stores big firms is the way for our family

We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience, and we appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback.

When you returned to the store, our first priority was to establish whether a fault was present with the boots. As explained at the time, we carried out our standard and well-established leak test. This involved using a shower system while the boots were partially submerged, flexed, and the leather gently massaged for approximately 20 minutes. This method is designed to replicate real conditions without causing damage to the leather and allows sufficient time for any water ingress to become visible.

During this test, there was no evidence of water entering the boots. Had a fault been identified, we would have offered a replacement or refund immediately, as this is our standard practice.

Unfortunately, following the test, the situation escalated due to the use of aggressive language and swearing directed at our staff. This behaviour was witnessed by other customers, caused distress to our team, and was recorded on our CCTV. At that point, we were unable to continue assisting further.

We always aim to support our customers fairly and professionally, but we also have a responsibility to protect our staff and maintain a respectful environment in store.

We stand by the testing carried out and the decision made based on the evidence available at the time.

Leger helmet - bad experience

Leger helmet. Website is misleading. Clicking on black produces grey. Clicking on silver produces matt black. Bought this helmet for my grandson for Christmas. His disappointment at wrong colour was painful. Immediately emailed Outdoor Action Customer Services. Two follow up emails sent. No reply to all three. Their Customer Service is appalling.

Having checked your order, the helmet purchased was the “Graphite” colour option. This selection displays a grey finish on our website, which matches the product supplied. We have sold a large number of these helmets and, to date, have not received reports of the colour being displayed incorrectly, though we appreciate that colour perception can vary depending on screen settings.
We have carefully checked our customer service inboxes and, unfortunately, cannot locate any of the emails mentioned. This is the first time we have been made aware of your concerns, and we sincerely apologise if your messages did not reach us.

Very happy camper

Fantastic experience with Outdoor Action. Treated myself to a new down sleeping bag, and Outdoor Action had the one I wanted on offer at the best price I could find, by quite some way. Ordering was easy, and item was despatched very quickly. It arrived well packaged within a couple of days. Lovely sleeping bag. Very pleased with my purchase, and wouldn't hesitate to buy again from this company.

Fantastic customer service from Returns Department

I had an issue with a tent (no fault of Outdoor Action's), so I contacted Outdoor Action to discuss it.

Andy in the Returns Department was friendly, helpful, and prompt in his replies, discussing the matter and keeping me updated on the progress as Outdoor Action spoke with the tent manufacturer. Andy was able to organise a replacement tent for me in a matter of days, and the process for sending back my old tent was well explained and very easy.

This is some of, if not the best, customer service experience I have had with a company, and I thought it deserved a review so that others can read this and have the confidence of dealing with Outdoor Action.

Speedy dispatch and delivery.

When I paced an order for a Wild Country Tent and a Roben sleeping bag very late on a Saturday evening, I wasn’t expecting delivery for at least 5 - 6 working days. I was absolutely thrilled when it arrived the following Tuesday. I was kept updated throughout the dispatch and delivery. Haven’t used my equipment yet but will definitely shop at Outdoor Action LTD again in the future.

After a thorough inspection by multiple members of our team, we found that the damage to the jacket—specifically the bent zip runner and ripped zipper—appears to be the result of accidental misuse rather than a manufacturing fault. As such, this type of damage is unfortunately not covered under our warranty policy.

We understand this may be disappointing, and we did our best to explain the situation clearly and respectfully during our communications. Customer satisfaction is very important to us, and we’re always here to assist with product care advice or future recommendations to help avoid such issues.

Terrible attitude from customer service

Absolutely awful customer service and I would review as 0/5 if I could. We will never purchase from this company again.

We ordered a tent from this company last summer which we used twice then stored away carefully. When we came to use the tent again this year (May bank holiday) the tent leaked. In the bedroom portion of the tent there is a black coating inside which was coming away and this was where water was pouring through. The tent supposedly had a 2 year warranty so we contacted in good faith only to be told we must have put it away wet at some point and so warranty wasn’t valid. Despite assuring this company that we had not put it away wet rather than accepting our word and treating this as a faulty product (which I am convinced it is because it has been well cared for and not been stored away wet) they doubled down on their decision and said “Any reviews made maybe deemed lible and we may choose to take further action and we can respond with the evidence shown.” They haven’t responded to my last email when I called them out on this response but from their responses to other reviews on here I’m not shocked by this at all. I felt very much like this was an attempt to prevent me from reviewing them and I think if a company fears reviews so much that they will try to put customers off by threatening taking action for libel then that speaks volumes to me about their ethos and their approach to customer service. I am honestly flabbergasted by it. There are ways to deal with customers and to reach amicable solutions and this was not it. I sincerely hope no one else ever has to deal with this sort of treatment from this company and I would strongly advise that they review their approach to customer services because they are currently lacking in that department as far as I am concerned.

***Edit to add:

I didn’t “threaten” to damage your reputation. I said that I would take this experience I have had public so that people can be made aware of the poor product and customer service provided. If you feel that will damage your reputation then perhaps you should work harder on your customer service skills. People have a right to know the experience we have had.

You can say that it has been stored away wet all you want but I have told you repeatedly that it hasn’t which is why I am convinced it is a faulty product and nothing will convince me otherwise because I know how the tent has been stored and cared for. And honestly, I feel that the fact that you don’t seem to see how frustrating this is for us is shocking. Rather than empathising with us and trying to find an amicable resolution you became, what I would describe as, stand-offish. The then threat of libel for us sharing the experience we have had with you was the pathetic last straw on the whole thing.

Seriously, this should be a learning experience for you because it has been an absolute masterclass in how not to deal with a customer as far as I am concerned. Have the day you deserve.

Following your initial email, several staff members reviewed the images you provided. All reached the same conclusion: at some point—either during packing away or storage—the tent was put away damp or wet. This caused the fabric to degrade.

Despite this, we forwarded the information and images to Coleman for an independent assessment. They reached the same conclusion: the fabric failure was the result of customer damage, specifically due to the tent being stored while damp or wet. Unfortunately, this voids the warranty, and there is nothing further we can do.

The customer later responded with threats to damage our reputation [hence this review] if we did not meet their demands. We made it clear that such behavior is not acceptable. We are within our rights to reject any warranty claim where the product has not been properly cared for.

This was also pointed out by many google statement on what had occured and the casue of it - This was shared with the customer as evedence

We handle all returns fairly and in line with warranty terms, and in this case, the issue clearly fell outside of those terms.

Not impressed

Not impressed! Bought a pair of Mountain Equipment trousers and the fit around the knees was not at all comfortable (unlike my other ME trousers). Returned them and requested a refund and find that instead of refunding me the full £49.95 - they have only refunded £47.45. Never ever had this before with any other company. They will definitely be off my shopping list in future.

So this is what was refunded correctly to the amount paid

Excellent value: Price of goods and Customer support experience!

Was the cheapest place I found online for a Jacket and some other small goods, that was before the added bonus of a discount when signed up to the email newsletter!

What really set them apart though was the fact my delivery didn’t go exactly to plan. Had to play find the parcel thanks to a poor Royal Mail delivery but the customer service and speed at which they dispatched the goods and got it resolved was exemplary. It’s easy to make a sale when everything goes to plan but what sets companies like this apart is the human touch of real customer support when things go wrong. Thoroughly recommended.
