Not what they used to be.
So since this is my second poor experience with their products in a row I decided to write this review as a warning to others. I've been in the hobby since the 1970's and keep several aquariums. A couple years ago I purchased a Penn-Plax Cascade 1000 canister filter since I had great experiences with their products in the past. Though it's been a while since I've used Penn-Plax. The filter wouldn't prime. So I contacted them and got the run around and of course they said this was the first they've heard about it. But I found several posts online with hobbyists having the same issue. Long story short I returned it to Amazon. Today I attempted to install a model 500, but it would not power at all. I attempted to call the number on the paperwork from the Penn-Plax box, but it went to Spammers trying to sell me an emergency alert. So I tried their website and couldn't find a number to call. So I submitted a service request which told me it would be 3 business days to get a reply. I'm sitting here with a cycled tank full of livestock worth hundreds of dollars and can't even get support from this company. So now I'm trying to deal with the seller who tells me not to return it. I don't have time to play games and troubleshoot something I already determined is defective. People need to know that if you buy these Chinese made Penn-Plax products they'll leave you high and dry.
