Disappointing Customer Service
Disappointing Customer Service – MOT Failure Over a Minor Issue
My car failed its MOT because of UK stickers I had applied to the registration plate for travelling in Europe. I was aware of the requirement to maintain a minimum 11 mm gap between the characters on the number plate and made every effort to comply. However, according to the garage, the stickers were less than 11 mm from the first letter.
I fully understand that MOT regulations are strict and that vehicles must comply with the law. I have absolutely no issue with following the rules and ensuring my car is road legal. What I do take issue with is the complete lack of common sense and customer care shown in this situation.
Rather than contacting me to explain the issue and asking for authorisation to remove the stickers, the garage simply failed the car. The problem took me approximately two seconds to resolve by peeling the stickers off, yet this resulted in an unnecessary MOT failure and the inconvenience of having to return a week later for a retest.
This is where customer service matters. I am not asking anyone to ignore the regulations, but surely there is a difference between enforcing the rules and making no effort whatsoever to help a customer resolve a minor, easily rectifiable issue.
To make matters worse, the retest itself took exactly 3 minutes, yet I was left waiting for half an hour before my keys were returned.
I have previously used this garage for all the work required on my car, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Unfortunately, this incident has seriously damaged my confidence in their service, and I will now be considering taking my business elsewhere, to a garage where customer care and respect for customers’ time are given the same importance as following procedures.
A little communication, common sense and willingness to help would have made all the difference. Sadly, none of those things were evident during this visit.

Following up on my recent disappointing…
Following up on my recent disappointing service and MOT experience with Protyre Weston, I today found that my dashcam had been unplugged and left unplugged, so have been left unwittingly driving around with no dashcam for a good month.
Please be aware that this happens during servicing and testing, and seemingly they dont bother to plug it back in, so check for yourselves if you have a dashcam.
Really bad again from these guys.
