be careful of major heath issues if you use RBC
to start, I apologies for the silly length of this entry , I am determined to be fair. I have been a customer of RBC for 40 years. About 22 montha ago I had 2major ICH incidences followed by 2 full craniotomy’s. I was in the ICUfor 5 months then7 months of acute care. While I was in hospital, my income reduced with the company h disability plan for short and medium plans of course. I was giving my wife the computer when I could for life, bills etc.one of these times I entered the postal code code slightly different to what RBC was looking for. In the wake of doing this 3 times, they froze my account. The only option even to transfer it to my wife was go to a branch and work it out. I was hooked up to the full telemetry, taking countless tests. No way to go, they kept saying only this would work, even with life Webex calls with my passport held to the side of my head by a nurse.no go. On phone help they demanded I try again with the real postal code that started this mess. Groundhog Day me from scratch, no access , no transfers, bill payments,NaDa.7weeksafter this and countless calls to help line, This is real, you will think I made it up, if you send me a message I can show you the docs, One miorning I am checking my email and RBC has sent theusual note to let me know, I changed my password, M wife calls and asked how could I get in real trouble from the hospital, my daughter left to meet friends and was greeted by 3 of Torontos finest in front of our townhouse. They, told her tocall a cell number from one of them. when I spoke with him he explained someone had used my RBC account to buy a handgun from Texas. I call RBC and sure enough they had lett someone else in my online banking account. gotta say, had a little fun with RBC. I asked to speak to a fraud manager and I asked him if he could do me a favour under the circumstances. Sure he says. I proceed to request he find the person who he gave my bank account access to change the password, I explained he can use my account more in 20 hours more than I have in the last 5 months. Yes,I am an ass, but hey, living ass no small task for the best hospital in Canada, SunnyBrook. still have any account issues, the hep line has called me a scammer, liar about my limited mobility, and more.So what have learned from this dumpster fire of a story Santa? Well kids, I f you have a dime in RBC, officially appoint a power of attorney for financial not medical decisions. Also, check with your companies health coverage for cost of living funds should you find yourself in a similar situation, I truly hope not. Your credit cards will also give you balance insurance for a few bucks a month, I didn’t sadly. If you need any information on anything I went through, please direct message me via trust pilot. Hug your loved ones and stay safe.
Hidden fees, lack of profesionalism
I was a customer for 10 years but they lost me forever. From documents that can be submitted only via fax just not to be found on months end to transfer an investment to hidden fees that they fail to advise you, everything is going down in terms of quality. I tought me switching to someone else would be a break but its for good Not returning to them. I do not recommend them.
Don't use RBC bank
Noone new how to help , with the issue, easiest answer go to a brach. Rude people on the phone line, felt like I did something wrong by asking for help. Horrible experience, Horrible bank.

Elle a cessé depuis quelques mois de m'envoyer un avis de relevé de carte de crédit. Sans raison. Coudonc, elle se prend pour Postes Canada?

I’ve had one of the most frustrating…
I’ve had one of the most frustrating experiences with RBC’s credit card support. My card was nearing expiration, and due to the Canada Post strike, I proactively contacted RBC three weeks in advance to request that the renewal card be sent to my local branch instead. They refused, saying a card had already been mailed and that sending another would require cancelling my current card—which I explicitly asked them not to do, as I rely on it for critical business expenses.
They proposed a workaround: split my credit limit into two cards—60% remaining on the current card, and a new card with 40% to be picked up at the branch. I agreed, hoping this would avoid disruption.
A week later, I followed up, only to be told the new card had been sent again via Canada Post, despite my clear instructions. I was understandably upset. They promised to send another card to the branch.
I called again a few days ago. Turns out no card had been sent at all. The agent reassured me he’d send one and confirmed my current card would remain active until the end of the month.
Now I’m receiving emails that my card has expired—which means someone cancelled it, despite my repeated requests not to. This has turned into a nightmare. I’ve spent countless hours updating payment methods across accounts to avoid disruptions.
RBC needs to take accountability and ensure that what they promise is actually followed through. This level of miscommunication and disregard for customer needs is unacceptable—especially when it affects business continuity.
Awful. Repeated issues.
Repeated issues transferring my money out of their DI program. No capacity to log in, transfer or complain. Terrible bot telephone service. Missing wire transfers. Unable to open FHSA within ten days. Closed branches. Long line ups. Months to respond to complaints. Automated, incorrect correspondence. Left after nearly 40 years and am at least relieved about that. Will close the last account this week and am just utterly furious.

My best experience so far was with Harman Kaur, whom I spoke to today. She gave me very good advice about loans., I appreciate her work.
I have been client of Royal Bank for 25…
I have been client of Royal Bank for 25 years now and I have been going to the Guilford branch for the past 23 years, I always had pleasant experience until couple days ago. I was surprised that the bank representative at the customer service was extremely rude and arrogant. I left the bank without finishing my work because I could clearly that she is looking to escalate the situation by raising her voice, her name is S.Zafar, immediately I contacted my financial planner which I’ve known for over 20 years and I told him that the manager should be looking at the cameras and correct her behaviour so it doesn’t happen to someone else!
A very poor experience - I see I am not alone!
Coming here and seeing all these bad reviews makes me feel better! Unfortunately RBC took over HSBC's business in Canada. HSBC were friendly and good. RBC has been, well to put it simply, ridiculous. I went to all the trouble of setting up with them. I got the online banking going, etc. I could have simply jumped ship right from the start, but I took my time to work with them. They wrote to us a little while after the start and told us they were extending the "no fee" period. Well that was nice but HSBC did not have any fees, so perhaps it seemed a little ominous. Then a few months ago (about a year and a half after the takeover) they wrote to us saying they were keeping our accounts no fee indefinitely. Ok, that's good. Then they sent me an email two weeks ago saying they had decided to close my account (with some vague reference to "a review" they had conducted of their products and services - but not providing any concrete explanation at all). They then demanded that I remove my money before some date in 2022 (yep, three years ago). Then they sent a "recall" email - which certainly made them look very professional – loads of sarcasm intended there). Then they sent another "ACTION REQUIRED" email demanding that I remove my money by a date in December - again without any substantial explanation. Finally, today, I received a letter, which demands I remove my money by another date in another month. All I can say is that I will be only too happy to take all my business over to Scotia - which has served me faithfully since 1997. I will have nothing further to do with RBC, and would suggest others think carefully before having anything to do with this, in my estimation, dysfunctional bank.

It’s just terrible… They kept withdrawing $25 every three months as a fee for holding my stocks, even though I only had about $300 after $4000 of me initial buy-in of the stocks, worth with them. Eventually, this put my account into a negative balance, and then they sold all my stocks because of it.”

I called 7 times back to back looking for help and they kept hanging up on me before I could speak to an agent. Hold, retrieve and hang up over and over
#RBC / #ROYAL BANK OF CANADA
I went into the #RBC / #ROYAL BANK OF CANADA branch at the Beaconsfield Shopping Center and asked to exchange $30.00 of change ($1.00 & $2.00 coins) for bills.
There were 4 people in line so it took about 10 minutes to finally meet a teller. She refused to do the transaction because I didn’t have a Royal Bank card! REALLY!!
BEWARE OF @RBC / @ROYAL BANK. In symphony if memory serves me this is the RBC branch that was in the news several years ago.
I had a very negative experience with…
I had a very negative experience with phone banking, as the representatives were quite rude and asked inappropriate security questions, such as my age instead of my date of birth. Furthermore, it appears that many of the staff are working from home rather than in the office. They do not treat customers with the respect they deserve; instead, they seem to profit from our funds while treating us poorly. Consequently, I have decided to close all my accounts with RBC and maintain my relationship with TD Bank.
I wish I could give RBC a zero star…
I wish I could give RBC a zero star review!
They told me they would cash a check at once if I don’t deposit it with ATM and bring it directly to the bank clerk. I did but in my surprise they said it would take about 5 DAYS!
They are either idiot or liar. They wasted people’s time and energy. By the way, they are so slow as well.
Bahman
If I could give negative stars I would
If I could give negative stars I would. Horrible customer service. Waited on hold for +3 hours got disconnected and had to sit on hold again for another 3 hours just to be told to go into a branch. Visit the branch and it took 2 hours to confirm the fraudulent charges on my card and be told I will be issued a new card. 6 weeks later and I still haven’t received my new card. Brutal!
Called into RBC insurance to update the banking information and they did not update the information. The person we dealt with on the phone for that (which also was an hour on hold) basically said there is nothing they can do. Horrible experience and we will be moving all our products away from RBC
Go with an online bank... WealthSimple
Amazon charged my account with something I didn't purchase. Talked with Amazon - they said talk to RBC.
Spent three hours chasing people by phone at RBC and just when you think you were getting somewhere they transfer you to another electronic directory hell. One person actually transferred me knowing I had just been there because she just didn't want to deal with it. We desperately need banking competition in Canada - Big Five banks don't give a crap nor does Amazon for that matter. Now my account is out $250 and how do I get it back? They know you have no real reasonable way to. Go to a lawyer or consumer group - great spend more time and money - they know you won't.
Dumpster Fire
RBC has turned into an inept and dishonest financial institution. After over 30 years, I've decided to move on. Multiple issues with their online banking platform, understaffed branches, employees without any meaningful training, a serious privacy breach, account irregularities, and on and on and on. Unfortunately, they have had no meaningful oversight by the Federal Government and do as they please, with total disregard for their customers. A Company destroyed by the wanton and unrestrained greed of their CEO and his inept cohorts.
