Based on my experience, I would not recommend enrolling with this company! This is an honest account of my experience and not a sponsored or incentivised review.

I entered into a £6,000 agreement with SCCD for a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching. The same qualification is available elsewhere for significantly less around only £1,000! I had to pay a minimum of £3,000 upfront to access a payment plan for the remaining balance. After several months and additional instalments, I realised that SCCD could not deliver the outcomes promised during consultation. I also found that the contract did not fully reflect what was communicated to me before enrolment.

In my experience, the higher price appeared to be partly justified by SCCD because they promoted placement as coming with a potential job or visa sponsorship. However, sponsorship can only be granted by a licensed employer, not a training provider, and SCCD did not have the ability to guarantee or arrange this. Even for students who do not need visa sponsorship, the course still seems significantly more expensive than similar Level 5 qualifications offered elsewhere. In my view, the pricing does not reflect any extra value that justifies the difference.

SCCD tries to place all students in a school, if possible, to complete their 100–150 unpaid placement hours. They tell students the school might offer a job and that their performance during placement will decide if they get hired. In reality, placements are mainly for completing training hours, not employment. By presenting it this way, SCCD can avoid responsibility if students are not hired because they can claim it was due to the student’s performance even though the school never planned to hire them and only took them on so they could complete their mandatory teaching practice hours.

The placement itself is something I later discovered I could have arranged independently by contacting schools directly, as many schools are willing to support placement students without an intermediary. In my experience, paying a higher fee for the course and placement did not provide any clear advantage, as placement was mainly promoted by SCCD as a selling point with the suggestion it could lead to a job or visa sponsorship, which was not true.

I was not clearly told before enrolling that this course leads to a Level 5 Diploma only, not QTLS. Completing it does not automatically make a student eligible for QTLS. Eligibility depends on prior qualifications in the subject, whether the subject is recognised in schools, and successful completion of the course. Many students may only realise this later, after investing time and money. Anyone with a relevant Level 3 qualification, which is essentially a college-level qualification, can enrol and be eligible for SCCD Level 5 Diploma. Because the entry requirement is relatively low, it’s understandable why schools often prefer hiring QTS-qualified candidates rather than QTLS holders for employment and visa sponsorship.

After identifying what I believed to be misrepresentation in how the course was sold, I exercised my right to withhold further payments. I subsequently received correspondence referencing potential legal action. In my experience, the correspondence I received came directly from SCCD and not through any court or official legal process. I would encourage others not to feel pressured by such correspondence and to seek independent legal advice before responding or making any decisions. For those who have already enrolled and feel they may have been misled, I would also encourage you to seek independent legal advice regarding your consumer rights.

I am sharing this review so others can make a more informed decision before enrolling. If you are considering this course, I strongly encourage you to:

∙ Check that everything you were promised or assured during your consultation is reflected in your contract. If it is not in writing, do not sign.
∙ Speak to the school SCCD place you in directly and ask whether any agreement is in place regarding job opportunities or visa sponsorship. Do not rely solely on what SCCD tells you
∙ Research the differences between QTLS and QTS before committing
∙ Confirm whether you already hold the subject qualification required to pursue QTLS
∙ Compare prices with other Level 5 teaching providers as many offer the same qualification for significantly less, around £1,000
∙ Research this provider thoroughly across multiple platforms before making any decision
∙ Seek independent advice if your visa situation depends on this course
∙ Keep records of all interactions
∙ Consider seeking independent legal advice if you feel you may have been misled regarding your consumer rights.

last month i finally got my skilled worker visa and also got job as business studies teacher which i am very happy about.

The teaching staff is very friendly and informative. We are progressing at the right path. They are guiding us at each and every step. If I would not have found SCCD I would have lost. I had a very good experience at SCCD Training Institute. The lecturers are friendly and apporoachable. The classes are well organized. I liked that we could ask questions anytime, and the lecturers were patient and helpful. They also give practical examples, which makes learning easier and more interesting.

The staff is supportive and professional. They guide students properly and help with any problems quickly. I feel more confident in my skills after completing my course here.

I am currently in my fifth month of teacher training with SCCD Institute, and I can truly say that this journey has been guided by God’s grace at every step. I am already placed in a school as an unqualified teacher with visa sponsorship, and I remain deeply grateful to the Lord for opening doors that seemed humanly impossible.

I am especially thankful for Miss Shaaira Alexis, who has been a God-sent mentor in my journey. Her support, patience, and commitment go far beyond professional duty. From helping me prepare for my interview through detailed guidance, mock interview discussions, and advice on how to present myself, to encouraging me spiritually and emotionally, she stood by me unwaveringly. Even at six o’clock on the morning of my interview, when I sent her my PowerPoint presentation, she took the time to review it and offer valuable suggestions that led to the success in my interview. Knowing that I had such strong support gave me peace and confidence going into the interview.

When challenges arose regarding my visa situation after receiving the offer, it was again Shaaira who stepped in with wisdom, compassion, and professionalism. She communicated with the HR team and the principal, advocating for me through beautifully written and thoughtful emails, offering reassurance about my commitment, and negotiating on my behalf. At a moment of great uncertainty, her support reminded me that God places the right people in our lives at the right time.

I would also like to sincerely thank Matthew for his excellent CPD sessions, which strengthened my confidence and professional growth, and Bernard, whose lessons and lectures consistently encouraged me and reaffirmed my calling as an educator.

SCCD Institute is more than just a training provider; it is a place where people are genuinely supported, guided, and believed in. I thank God for SCCD, for the mentors He placed in my life through this institution, and for every door He has opened through their support. I wholeheartedly recommend SCCD Institute to anyone seeking not just teacher training, but purpose, encouragement, and meaningful guidance.

I completed a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) with SCCD Training, also known as the Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (DIT), leading to QTLS and I can honestly say I deeply regret enrolling on this course.

From the start, the experience was stressful, disorganised, and disappointing. The quality of teaching, communication, and support did not meet my expectations, and I felt let down after investing so much time, effort and money. The course was advertised as a 12-month programme, but in reality, it took me around two years to complete due to repeated delays and scheduling issues.

When I first started, the staff were supportive. Later, I was moved for no clear reason to another group with a different lecturer, whose approach I found harsh and unprofessional. Our working relationship broke down and I received emails in all capital letters, which felt like shouting, accusing me of inappropriate behaviour. I strongly disagreed with these claims and found the messages very distressing. During one session, the same lecturer upset another student enough to make her cry.

I had to pay for a deferral to rejoin my original class group. However, after some staff changes in August 2024, I was again placed back in the group with the same lecturer, despite having paid for the deferral, and I felt that some of their claims about me were unfair or inaccurate.

I completed 100 teaching hours teaching art and design (traditional and digital) at Ealing College, which I had to arrange myself. Later, my assessor questioned whether my evidence reflected genuine learner work. I provided screenshots, participation records, and learner details and even offered contact information for verification, but no follow-up took place.

Throughout the course, communication was inconsistent. Different tutors gave conflicting guidance, and minor issues such as removing staples from my paperwork were disproportionately emphasised. As the only student specialising in digital art, I struggled to access relevant examples or subject-specific guidance. Any questions I asked the student support team were often ignored or went unanswered.

The advertised maths support also fell through due to cancelled sessions and broken links and alternative arrangements were not provided. I was later informed that I would need to pay an additional £500 if my work was not finished by a specific deadline. Given the lack of consistent support, this policy seemed unreasonable compared with other providers I have studied with.

When I initially shared feedback online, I was contacted by the centre and told my course could be paused if I did not remove the review. I felt pressured by that interaction, which caused me additional stress.

Over time, I learned that one of the tutors also holds a director role within the company, which made it difficult to raise complaints objectively. I later found additional information online which further raised my concerns.

Overall, this course has been emotionally draining, poorly managed and disappointing. I had to find my own placement even though the company advertises links with schools, and I received no help finding work afterwards. I also did not receive my QTLS licence after completing the course, which I had expected.

If you are considering SCCD Training, I would advise researching carefully before joining. This review reflects my personal experience only and I hope it helps others make an informed decision.

My experience with SCCD's Level 3 Teaching Assistant course was exceptional. The course content was excellent, providing an ideal balance of theory and practical skills. The true highlight, however, was the instruction from Shaaira and Matthew. They were extremely supportive and knowledgeable, consistently offering practical tips that went beyond the textbook. Their advice on school interviews, classroom dynamics, and managing various situations with children was invaluable.
The placement team also deserves high praise. The process was seamless, and they placed me at a wonderful, positive school where I gained vital practical experience. Thanks to SCCD and their outstanding team, I feel fully prepared to start my role as a Teaching Assistant. I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in entering the field.

I had an excellent enriching experience studying at SCCD, I had a warm welcome and always felt a sense of belonging to the College.
