Absolutely terrible
I wish I could give lower than 1 star. Absolute cowboys, they completely destroyed the roof, throwing cement everywhere. It's a total mess. Tiles missing, the felt is exposed in a lot of places, it's not water tight, the new gutters are leaking, all the ridge tiles are wonky. We complained and asked them to return more than 10 times. They obviously never came back, and are now completely ignoring any texts or phonecalls, and hang up when we call on a blocked number. Patrick Carthy, the main 'roofer', I have since also discovered stole the logo and brand name from a reputable roofing company in Birmingham. I assure you these guys are not reputable. Please don't use them, it's going to cost over £6,000 for another company to fix the mess.
Scammers who will destroy your roof
Whatever you do, please do not engage with Skyguard Roofing Surbiton and Patrick Carthy. These guys have not only not fixed the leak in my roof, they have absolutely destroyed the side of my house with concrete, destroyed the ridge caps, destroyed the 2 Velux windows by putting concrete around them. This is according to the insurance assessor. Furthermore, according to the insurance assessor, all they did was remove the roof tiles, photographed the wear and tear on the felt, and then replace the roof tiles. They have not done any work, they have just made it worse. They also mixed the concrete on my new brick drive and left it to dry, destroying the drive. I have paid these guys £4000 after being massively pressured to make the payment. For the first £2000, Patrick Carthy said they needed materials, and for the second £2000, he wanted the payment before the work was complete. In hindsight, I can clearly see why he wanted the money urgently, and it was because he wanted it before it rained. Disappointingly, I paid the second £2000 as his pressure was constant. After I paid it, he tried to convince me that he had not received the money, although I had sent him a screenshot that the funds had left my account. He asked me if I could pay it into another account. SCAM! He promised to send his guys out to rectify the problem and he never did. Again and again promises were made and he never sent out guys to fix the work (not that I would want them back after what the issuance assessor said). I called him several times and he promised to call me straight back, but of course he did not. I am now pleased that he did not send anyone out as these guys have no idea what they are doing. I asked him for a receipt of the funds paid, and pictures of the work so I could show the insurance people, however, he has not sent them. On our last phone call, he said ‘oh, I have sent it, did you not receive the email?’ By the way, this is the same email address which he had no problem sending the invoice to. I am so disappointed in myself. I have used checkatrade previously and I only go for tradesmen with a significant amount of reviews. Unfortunately, we had a bad leak in the roof which was pouring into the bedroom ceiling, and the weather forecast indicated a storm warning with heavy rain, so I chose Skyguard roofing as they were available the next day. I am also incredibly disappointed with Checkatrade that they allowed this company on their website. Checkatrade tagline is recommendations you can rely on. I was surprised to learn how easy it is to fabricate reviews on this website. Skyguard Roofing has 3 reviews all posted in October 21, which are clearly fabricated, and they are not VAT registered according to Checkatrade. I am now out £4000 and the insurance is not going to cover this, and I now need someone to rectify the entire work done by SkyGuard Roofing Surbiton. This is a message for Checkatrade, please remove these people from your website immediately and conduct thorough checks on reviews to stop the pain caused by these cowboys. According to the insurance assessor who is a builder and roofer with over 20 years experience, he has never seen such poor workmanship and damage done to a property like this. If you are reading this and looking for a roofer, under no circumstance should you use Skyguard Roofing Surbiton. They are an absolute scam and a disgrace!
