Avoid - unless you want to waste £10 to see wrong item and have to source it elsewhere.

I ordered a dog trailer rain cover. They sent a child's poncho from the same manufacturer. On the phone the guy was convincing - said it was a picking error at their end and someone would be in touch about an exchange. Received a call later saying to return the item through the website.

Even though it was Swindlerton Cycles' error they do not refund P&P and charge a £5 'Restocking Fee', so you pay £10 for their 'mistake'.

Looking at other reviews it seems they routinely advertise out of stock items, send out a different item and then charge a fee for their return.

Believe that bad reviews

Ignore all the bad reviews for Swinnerton at your expense people… ordered online, showing as in stock. Cancelled by the shop 12 hours later, reason ‘customer cancelled’’ when I hadn’t. Payment taken, 3 to 5 days for refund, when I called the store, ‘sorry it’s just been sold, no longer available’. Yet the bike is still available now. Is this how these stores inflate sales, to keep their orders and inventory turning over and make their books look better? Showing as in stock means nothing… absolute clowns.

Comprehensive bike Service

I recently took my bike for a full service. Riding the bike now everything feels much sharper. During the service a broken gear cable was found to broke. This was ordered urgently with Look. In the meantime an interim fix was made which enabled me to take my bike on holiday as planned (as the could not guarantee the part would arrive on time). Swinnerton Cycles kept me informed and were professional and courteous through the whole process

Best bike shop I've been to

Best bike shop I've been to. Also a trek service center so if you're into trek pick here. Without these I wouldn't be able to get my bike fixed as Halfords are bad.

Took 8 days to ship

Took 8 days to ship a bike part and now I'm missing my race thanks a lot guys!...a Brake clamp i could have ordered from 100 other stores but picked swinnerton due to stock availability being clearly indicated on the page. Lets me pay. Ships 8 days later. Not useful. Would have went elsewhere had they been upfront

Item ok but price match policy a joke

I bought one item from them which was delivered quickly. This was a bike bag. The straps looked unused, but the bag itself was a bit dirty on the side - not completely sure if it was absolutely new, but didn't want to go through the return. Could just have become dirty in their warehouse.

What I found most disappointing though was their price match policy. I wanted to add another item to my order, and found the exact same item more than £10 cheaper on a competitor website (Tredz). Adding that item would also have made shipping cheaper from me. When asking about the price match policy, Swinnerton Cycles refused to pice match. Their reason was: "It is not cost effective for us to offer a price match against this product.". If they only pick and choose which products they want to match, then that is not a true price match policy. Either offer that to customers and stick to it, or don't advertie price matching at all...

Another unhappy customer.

Avoid this company bought from them because it was saying on there website they were in stock . After a week of waiting I decided to phone them only to be told the item was on back order and wouldn’t be available until the end of August . Did they honestly think I’d ordered and would be happy to wait nearly 6 months for the item .

Buying online with phone support

Buying online with phone support, needed specific parts to convert an old bike to one-by they did research, specified parts all at reasonable online pricing. Nice helpful guys.

Returns process is an absolute shambles

Was sent an incorrect item (a version of the pump I wanted but without the gauge). I therefore invoked the returns process. Initially this went nowhere, so I called up. At least I expected them to pay the return postage. No offer of that, so much as even an apology.

In the end I spoke to the owner at length today that in my opinion their returns process is flawed; there was no sense of ownership or real sense of care from the owner. I don't actually want the pump as I had to buy one somewhere else in the interim, but having read the reviews on here I now have zero confidence I'll ever see my refund, and if I then pay to return the item I'll have paid twice for nothing and they will have another pump to sell. All trust is gone so I will now try and sell the item on a web sales platform.

As the old addage goes, do your research before you buy from a company. Thankfully it was only a £20 pump and not a £4000 bike. Therefore I can't recommend this company with any level of confidence.

I have dealt with this business for…

I have dealt with this business for over 30 years. Their knowledge and experience is superb, this is a PROPER bike shop. Great people to deal with, quick and efficient to order remotely.
Cannot recommend highly enough, FANTASTIC.

Good service, best price

See some bad reviews but I can only share my experience of Swinnerton.
Was looking for a vent mounted phone holder and as I had a particular case wanted the option that fitted it. Went online and found the mount at various places but Swinnerton were considerably cheaper so went with them.
Product was delivered promptly, well packed and I was kept informed of parcel progress, so for me Swinnerton came through, good job!

Best price, great service

A few poor reviews on here but I can only write about my own experience. I identified the part I needed (electric bike charger) Their price was the most competitive, paid online, and it arrived the next day, on time. First class service at a great price. 5 stars from me

Seem uninterested...

Emailed to enquire about availability of a part listed on their website but shown as out of stock.

I was told that they didn't hold stock and ordered in on demand. Evidently the stock shown on their website is pulled from the manufacturer's site as that showed no stock of this item either (while other, available options correlated between both sites).

I asked Swinnerton to enquire with the supplier. They requested a product code from me. This wasn't immediately obvious from their site or that of the manufacturer, so I replied with a precise description and link to the item on the manufacturer's website (despite the fact that Swinnerton should surely know the details of the products they're offering for sale).

I was then given a product code by Swinnerton, but checking this on the net suggested that this was for the wrong variant of what I wanted. I asked them to confirm that this code was correct for what I'd described, and all I got in response was quoted product description confirming that it was indeed incorrect.

After this somewhat bizarre response Swinnerton seemed to lose any interest in investigating any further so I gave up.

Only saved from a one-star review because at least their communications were prompt and responsive.

Good customer service

James was very knowledgeable about internal geared hubs, answered all my questions, recommend the parts for my particular bike, and gave an estimate for when the wheel build would be shipped. It arrived earlier than expected with everything I needed for installation.

I don't know why their ratings are so mixed, maybe people don't understand how an online business works nowadays, or don't have any patience for delivery times? Most online shops don't physically stock every part, so a longer delivery time is expected. Maybe this just needs to be clearer on the website. Some websites say "item is with our supplier" and this avoids any misconceptions. I'd say just email them if you want to know when to expect parts to be delivered.

Dishonest business - Best Avoided

Seems like I've fallen foul of Swinnerton's common business practice of taking money off customers for parts they don't have... or don't even know if they can get.

Waited 2 weeks for my order... chased it and was told it was en route to them from the supplier (a lie).

Waited another 2 weeks... chased again and told the item was in fact discontinued and not available for purchase.

Complete waste of time.

Dishonest business.

Good online shopping sketchy customer service

I don't live near the store. I use it purley for online purchases. It's my go to due to, flexible payment options, choice of products, fast shipping and reasonable pricing.

The customer service is just hit and miss. Sometimes I get updates and tracking sometimes the parcels just appear out of nowhere.

I get the impression Craig (the owner?) isn't great to be dealing with. Pretty curt responses if iv ever emailed.

They are good for online buying, not sure id fancy going into the shop though. Fortunately I never will.

Absolutely and utterly awesome service!!

Lost my nosepiece (tifosi) on the steppes of Mongolia -and ordered 2 new ones.

The first delivery was smashed by a postal truck, I took pictures and sent them to Swinnerton -and they immediately sent new perfect ones !!! NO QUESTIONS ASKED !!!

(My danish bike shop told me it was not possible to get spare, my (new) sunglasses was outdated).

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

Best by miles

These guys could not have been more efficient - not only gave the best price on the internet for some expensive components but also fitted them, solved an unexpected problem and charged me very reasonable rates.
