USI = When an Interview Becomes an Interrogation... Just Run Away!
The interview process was, in its own way, memorable—though not for the right reasons. From the outset, the interviewer seemed to break the basic social contract that underpins any fair exchange, adopting a tone that was cold, dismissive, and at times openly hostile.
What might be expected as a balanced conversation instead felt closer to an examination or interrogation, where I was placed under pressure rather than engaged in dialogue. There was little room to explain my motivations—such as my choice of program or interest in philosophy—as if these were irrelevant to the process.
The interviewer’s persistent and confrontational approach left little space for open discussion, effectively reducing the interaction to a one-sided exercise. Overall, it was a striking example of how an admissions interview can depart from its intended purpose.
Based on this experience alone, it is difficult to recommend this university to prospective applicants.
