On Saturday 8th November 2025 I attended Vodafone Chichester and spoke to Ollie. I had an existing plan with Sky Broadband essential copper which had risen to £41.98 far to expensive. Ollie set me up as an existing phone customer with a Vodafone Broadband plan for £22 and explained everything saving £20 a month and £240 a year which I am happy about. I wish Ollie all the best with Vodafone and his career and studies at University.

Broadband account was in my ex's name, when she moved out she moved account into my name with my permission, but Vodafone rep got my surname wrong (which I was unaware of) and did not take any correct contact details for me.

When the time came for me to cancel my service customer service could only identify an old inactive mobile account for me. It took an inordinate amount of time to work out my broadband was linked to another account. I couldn't pass security for that one and had no idea why. Vodafone customer service would only tell me one of the key security details did not match. I showed them that the money was being paid from my account and could prove I lived at the address. Didn't matter, they told me to prove my identity in my local store. I did so.

Turns out the in-store colleagues left the note confirming my ID against the wrong account - the old inactive one. So when I called up to gain access to my account and cancel again I continued to have the same problem. So far this has already cost me numerous hours of my life.

I wrote a formal letter of complaint to head office. I cancelled my direct debit so that I could pay upon bill receipt and also dispute payment requests. Customer services got back to me. Rude, uninterested rep told me to fill in a change of personal information form online. Following the call I get an email saying she immediately marked my case as resolved, even though I hadn't even tried the form. I couldn't fill the form out because it required me to know the incorrect information that needed changing, which Vodafone wouldn't tell me for data privacy reasons. So I was in a ridiculous situation paying for a service I didn't want without recourse to cancel.

Kept calling. Had to go into the store to verify ID again. Received debt collection letters in the wrong name. Technically shouldn't have opened them as illegal to open mail not addressed to you. It was only by receiving these letters that I learned what the wrong information was. Went back to the store to complain personally and ask them to resolve. They said they can't cancel contracts in store, only the phone customer services team can do that. But having told them I had sent a letter to head office and raised a complaint, they said customer services should get back to me soon. They didn't. It turns out I had no active ticket raised. Balance increased again.

Another call, this time over two hours long including about an hour on hold, and I finally get my contract cancelled. I complain about the service, the multiple mistakes by Vodafone, my treatment, and dispute the payment, and the customer care assistant - apparently a different level to usual customer service, argues, interrupts and blames me for every part of the fiasco. I should have called sooner, I should have explained better, I should have known whether my complaints filed with them were active or not. Their callback policy is two attempts. If you're working or busy and you miss them, that's it, you're back to contacting them through the hellish usual line requiring you to navigate their useless automated system and low-level advisors on patchy lines, full of background noise, who place you on hold for stupid lengths of time.

This is defend, depose, deny tactics and it's disgusting.

The debt collection agency are actually very polite and easy to deal with. Between now and the payment resolution deadline they have given me I'll contact Vodafone once more, and if my treatment is as appalling as it has been all this time then I'll contact CISAS and talk to my solicitor about bringing my case to small claims court because this is the most outrageous and disgraceful customer service experience I have ever, and probably will ever experience in my life.

Great service from Danielle this morning taking time to explain my predicament with signal, which is horrendous here in Tangmere, she has altered settings on my mobile to see if it improves as making calls is a no no and I,m having to go to the park to get a signal! She did her best but fault lies with 4g. Chichester branch are lucky to have such a pleasant, helpful member, thankyou for your help Danielle👍

Dannielle was amazing sorting out what felt like a catastrophic upgrade failure, I walked in in dispair, came out with a new sim in ‘old’ phone and the ‘new’ faulty one going in for repair.
