Family time

We recently stayed at Whittlebury Park in a a suite and a triple club room. The front-of-house staff, Aston restaurant and Silverstone bar staff were amazing from the moment we arrived—kind, friendly, and truly felt that nothing was too much trouble.
A massive shout-out to the chef and team at the Astons restaurant! They went above and beyond for my children, timing their food perfectly so they could get in one last round of golf. It meant their meal was as fresh as could be when they finished. We felt the resort was a very safe environment, which gave the kids a lot of freedom and made for a relaxing weekend.
Housekeeping also deserves a huge thank you—you do an amazing job and the rooms were spot on.
The only downside was the spa. We found the staff there less attentive, and the open changing rooms weren't for us. While we wouldn't rush back for the spa, we would absolutely return for the hotel and golf experience. Thank you for a great family getaway!

Leisure club membership

This review is about the leisure club which is open to members. The gym area itself is probably ok but we don't use it much. The pool would be ok but not for doing lengths as fitness members might want - there are no lanes marked for that. The real issue is the fitness classes. These are regularly hugely oversubscribed especially if the hotel has sold the larger room they use - they just relocate the class and reduce places available. Signing up for classes 10 days in advance is like making an appointment with your GP - an 8am race to get in first. At 8.02 you are too late. The club is quite expensive but the hotel prefers to focus on corporate profit and has repeatedly chosen to put leisure club customers last, so I'd have to advise against joining. We quit.

Very disappointed with this hotel

Very disappointed with this hotel. It is sold as a luxury spa hotel but if falls very short of this. The spa itself was awful - overcrowded in the changing rooms - no privacy. We asked if we could take the allocated robes to our room to change and were told no. To get a room with a robe in it is an upgrade at a significant additional cost. We think that anyone staying at the hotel and paying extra for the spa experience should automatically get a room with robes and be allowed to change in comfort and privacy.
Our basic room although large was seriously lacking in some basic amenities - no full length or magnifying mirror. No drinking water (upgrade!). The shower (over the bath with no grab handle) was inadequate - small showerhead, slow flow of water and not particularly warm. Dirty toilet brush. No fan in the bathroom.
The safe couldn't be used as the instructions did not match to enable it to be reset. The fridge was very noisy and had to be switched off so we could sleep. Broken hinge on cupboard. No sockets next to the bed and no USB charging sockets anywhere in the room. Our key cards lost connection twice (and neither were near a mobile phone!).
Food in the restaurant in the evening was generally OK but same menu each night during our 2 night stay and lots of add-ons that did not match up to the additional cost.
Good breakfast.
There was no information in the room or corridors to inform us of the nearest exit and assembly point in an emergency. A serious safety issue??
The hotel's saving grace was the staff who were welcoming, polite and helpful.

Would not recommend

We recently stayed at whittlebury for
The valentines weekend. We went last year and loved it unfortunately this year was the complete opposite. I feel this year they got greedy and overbooked. The spa was packed meaning we couldn’t use the facilities. The food was awful. Cold, not as advertised and tasteless. Staff were pushy and made you rush your meal. The room was tired had failing guttering outside the bedroom window and the bathroom smelt of sewage. Would not recommend and sadly we will not be returning

Whittlebury Spa and Hotel

Whittlebury Spa and Hotel – A Masterclass in Overpricing and Under-Delivering
This was my first ever spa experience, and it is genuinely astonishing how comprehensively Whittlebury Spa and Hotel managed to get everything wrong. What is marketed as a luxury retreat is, in reality, an overcrowded, poorly run, deeply disappointing establishment that appears far more interested in maximising footfall than delivering even the most basic standard of care.
The spa facilities were grossly overcrowded. The changing rooms were chaotic, claustrophobic, and overstimulating, with far too many people crammed into a space that clearly cannot cope with the volume of guests. Any notion of tranquillity was obliterated immediately. There was nowhere to relax — every poolside bed was taken, leaving guests standing around aimlessly like spare parts. For a spa, this is not just a failure; it is an embarrassment.
Treatments were delivered with all the warmth and individuality of a production line. During facials, my sister was inexplicably instructed to change into disposable underwear, while the rest of us were not — a glaring inconsistency that highlights a complete lack of professionalism or protocol. The entire experience felt rushed, impersonal, and careless. It was painfully obvious that this spa does not care about its staff or its guests; efficiency has replaced quality, and it shows.
The hotel itself was unacceptably cold, contributing to an overall sense of neglect rather than comfort. The reused robes were unpleasant and tired, entirely inappropriate for a spa environment. Locker fobs were temperamental and unreliable, turning a simple task into a repeated irritation.
The room offered no respite. The supposedly premium ESPA products were already open, raising serious concerns about hygiene and cleanliness. This, combined with the discovery of a spider in the bed, is entirely indefensible and should never occur in a hotel charging these prices.
The food was nothing short of shocking. Lunch — a buffet — was absolutely vile, which raises the serious question of how one manages to fail so spectacularly at something so straightforward. Dinner descended into farce. A so-called “caprese salad” arrived consisting of two miserly pieces of mozzarella and not even a full tomato, yet was presented as a proper dish. Despite having already paid for the meal, we were then confronted with extortionate supplements exceeding £10, a practice that borders on exploitative. Food was left sitting out on the side for others to collect themselves, chicken was unbearably dry, and breakfast continued the theme of incompetence — complete with a hair found on my pineapple.
Service throughout was abysmal. Glasses were left uncleared for hours, staff appeared disengaged, and no one seemed remotely interested in maintaining standards. Even navigating the hotel felt punitive; the walk from the lift and stairs to the room was absurdly long, hardly ideal for guests who are supposedly there to relax.
Whittlebury Spa and Hotel charges luxury prices while delivering a budget, disorganised, and careless experience. This was not relaxing, indulgent, or restorative — it was stressful, uncomfortable, and infuriating. I left colder, angrier, and more disappointed than when I arrived.
If this is your idea of a spa, I would strongly suggest reconsidering your entire operation. I will not return, and I would actively discourage others from wasting their time or money here.

Great stay mainly

Great stay, lovely pool, sauna and steam room..The idea surely is to relax, like one should for a chilled out weekend. Unfortunately there was a selfish hen party false laughing so loud in the restaurant and then back in the bar, It would only take a manager to ask them to be a bit quieter, surely that's all. But nobody did..

Room are a joke

Both jacuzzi's were closed, one of the steam rooms smelt like a gents, pool was very cold
Room was a joke, curtains that covered the heater / air-conditioning and very noisy
Couldn't open one of the wardrobe doors because they put the bed in front of it
Plaster virtually falling off the wall
Smallest shower in the biggest bathroom

Bar refused to take cash

Food was good and treatment

A disappointing stay at a beautiful place

We were given a Red Letter Day voucher for Christmas. I decided to use it at Whittlebury Hall as they were offering a luxurious stay with a three course dinner and breakfast. I had to pay a supplement so it was quite a hefty price all in all but it looked like a lovely stay away in a beautiful hotel.
Check in took ages as there was a long queue and only one receptionist. Eventually another one arrived. The man we saw was not welcoming in the slightest. He was quite rude. When i asked for the directions to the restaurant he seemed annoyed I had asked. I brushed it off as it was very busy, maybe he was stressed.
After the long trek to the room, feeling a little like i was in The Shining, with the long hallways and the tired decorations. I was expecting the room you see on the pictures but it was a dissapointment. The room was cold, mostly coming in through the window frames. The heater was giving off little heat even on full. The carpet was full of stains and the wallpaper was coming off in places. It was not the luxury we'd been promised.
Onto the 3 course meal, I have to say our waitress was lovely. The food itself was fine, nothing special but nothing wrong with it. The poitions were tiny which meant that even after 3 courses we were still hungry. I don't even have a large appetite. Every course came so quickly I think the remit was to turn around diners as quickly as possible. The room felt like we were at a wedding.
We then went to the Silverstone bar for cocktails. Again some of the staff seemed miserable, didn't engage. I don't think it was them, I felt it was a culture and probably a reflection of Management. Pleasentness and welcoming was not the norm so the ones that were really stood out. We joked that they must be new.
Breakfast was average at best. I was charged for a drink we'd had in the restaurant the night before. When the lady put the amount in the machine she automatically gave herself a 15% tip without asking, even though we'd left a rather large tip to the waitress after the meal. I thought that was a bit cheeky since all she'd done was take a payment.
All in all it was pretty disappointing and we won't be returning. It is such a beautiful building and could quite easily be so much better. If you're not willing to put in the effort to try and entice guests to return then don't be on red letter days site. You're promising a much better experience than you're giving. I've given 3 stars as contractually they did give us a room, bed and breakfast. But the bare minimum is not what we were expecting.

Not our first visit but unfortunately our worst!

Not our first visit but unfortunately the worst. Overall the package we go for is very good value for money. The food is fantastic and the service in Astons is consistently great. The breakfast being the biggest highlight. However, the things that were a bit frustrating on this occasion: the beds weren’t made properly you could see the bare mattress. The pillows were like biscuits and the sheets didn’t feel great to the touch. We got given a 9pm dinner slot. When arriving at 4pm for check in that is a very long wait! We made a comment at reception on arrival and the member of staff said I will see what I can do - that was that so apparently he could do nothing? I do not associate this hotel as one that is appropriate for families and on previous visits it has been relaxing as there have been no children but there are posters everywhere promoting family offers which it appears had worked there were so many kids. They were mucking about in the pool throwing balls and shouting loudly, children under 10 were even filling up the jacuzzi! Adults were just drifting away trying to find some peace!! The children were loud at meal times and there were even children under 5 at our 9pm booking which was annoying! The pool was not heated and both the pool and jacuzzi has so much chlorine it made your eyes sting above the water. We may have to reconsider our annual visit.

Terrible stay

Stayed here last week and had a completely different experience from my previous stay last year in 2024 and was very disappointed with the change. The service was terrible when I arrived at 10pm. I was not greeted well at all and they seemed half asleep. The shower in the room was either extremely hot or unusable/ scalding. The room had no chargers near the bed and tea, coffee was hidden with no water supplied in the room. Machines did not work for breakfast everything was cold. Not happy at all.

Great overnight stay and spa day

We did an overnight stay and spa day. Great value for money! Spa was clean and staff were friendly. Having lots of food intolerances food can often be a worry..but not here! They went out of their way to ensure I was catered for and was safe, can't fault them! Special thanks to Lizzie and Alex who looked after me during lunch, dinner and breakfast. I would definitely visit again!

Avoid like the plague

Avoid - a complete rip off. Have been visiting Whittlebury Hall Spa for many years, spending well into thousands but today is the last time. We booked the ESPA Decadence Day for £418. We arrived on time & both had lovely treatments but when we ventured into the Hydro Spa after, it went downhill rapidly. The Spa itself was absolutely freezing! So much that we couldn’t go in & enjoy the jets or bubbles. The sauna & other ‘warm’ rooms were absolutely packed, it was so cold that everyone was trying to keep warm in them. They were dirty & it was very over crowded. Not all facilities were working & if they expect this many guests, they need to ensure the capacity is suitable for the facilities. I asked at reception about how cold it was & she simply said it was cold today - she’d call maintenance. It didn’t warm up so I doubt it was a maintenance issue, more of a cost cutting exercise. Every single person we saw go in said how cold they were. We were desperate to relax so went to the main pool to find somewhere to lie down - not a chance, absolutely rammed. We went to the relaxation room, well - hard sunbeds with thin grey blankets aren’t very relaxing! Dirty, cold, hard & not replenished with clean blankets once. There was literally no where to relax. The place was crammed to the rafters with nowhere near enough places to chill & everything ‘out of order’. We spent 20 mins queuing for lunch at our allotted time to be then told we had a 45 min slot 😂 so actually 25 mins to wait for empty bowls to be replenished with cold food. It was filthy, a real food hygiene hazard, no signs (fallen on floor with food trodden into), just awful. The terrace isn’t as pleasant as it sounds, you’re crammed in the middle of the entrance to the gym & pool with a constant flow of people going past. We were entertained by gym equipment being walked through too, one person dragging a gym bike x 6 times past your table was just awesome 😂 I will be emailing to complain. We left after lunch, we spent half a day there for £418 - coming away more stressed than when we arrived. Whittlebury Hall Spa - you’ve got some serious customer service issues to sort out, we shouldn’t be paying premium prices for this kind of experience, absolutely appalling. I’ll update here if I ever get a response… but don’t hold your breath!

P.S; The changing rooms are old, dated, grubby & unkempt. The showers are freezing & full of other people’s hair & there is no privacy whatsoever. If you do decide this spa seems appealing above others such as Ragley Hall/Nirvana, then take extra towels, your own footwear & be prepared for a 1* experience!

Forget about sleeping We have visited over 20 years now and never again after this visit. We were put in a noisy room above kitchen fans, we asked to be moved, they put us in a different room with the same noise. It stopped at midnight and went on again at 6am

Rude, unhelpful - do not bother

Really disappointed with the hotel. We have stayed around five times previously and had booked a hotel stay, dinner and breakfast with use of facilities. Today we have gone to book our spa treatments to be told that the spa is not included.

This was not clear at all and we even contacted them a few weeks ago to book treatments for the Spa day and were told that we would be able to book on the day with no mention of the fact our stay did not include the spa.

Furthermore, the FAQ specifically on our booking mentions that the heat and ice experience are not recommended for pregnant people, which would indicate it was included.

We have tried speaking to someone, have offered to pay extra to be told no. It’s a 2 1/2 hour drive for a hotel stay for over £200 and due to the rudeness will not be going and will be contacting our bank. Really disappointed.

This is the same package we have booked over the previous 5 years. I would not recommend and they have lost a faithful customer!

Had a wonderful spa overnight stay, the facilities were great and the extra towels and robes were a bonus when ours were soaked. We had a fantastic facial and head massage, highly recommend.

Disappointed!

The good points were when we booked for 10 ppl and requested for the rooms to be next to each other and have the dinner to be together and that we were all vegetarian. Received email confirming it.

When we arrived we checked in and one of the rooms were on a different floor. So we requested again to have the room next to the others after going back and forward they gave a premium club room, which was next to the other rooms. When we got to the rooms all of the keys wasn’t working so had to go back to reception. Then 1 of the rooms wasn’t even ready beds wasn’t even done, dirty towels on the floor. Lights not working properly.

The premium clubroom AC wasn’t working. The bathroom area tiles were cracked. Flies/Spiders on the ceiling. Carpet was dirty, hairdryer not working would not call this a premium club room and would not pay extra for a room like this.

Vegetarian food were put together with non vegetarian food and wouldn’t know which spoon is for which was a put off.

Some of us had stay here before so was disappointed with our stay this time. What happened to you.

Underwhelming

I stayed here overnight on 17th July . l it just got worse the longer we stayed there. We went for my boyfriend’s birthday I wanted to treat him to a “fancy” hotel and spa break after a tough year: it’s been an experience we haven’t enjoyed.
Start with the 2 positives. The old man who greeted us on reception - what a gentleman. And the food and service in astons was great.

Service
Now for the less positive. It’s not cheap so you expect a level of quality, a level of service - most importantly good communication. Despite saying we’ve not been here there we had little information about what was what. We turned up at the spa and the service was luke warm, I can give you times where staff were chatting to each other rather than service. As a guest I shouldn’t have to wander to find out info I need. Especially half dressed in a bath robe.

Upselling
You don’t really need to book heat and ice unless it’s really your thing. Most of the saunas are next to the pool.
The sun beds get taken up by people who leave a towel in British style to go have a treatment leaving none for me and my fella to relax.

I paid extra for the special occasion for upgrading room. Where this upgrade was I dunno. There was no wine in the room as paid promised in upgrade - I went and asked for this and it was brought up. I later discovered no water no instant coffee (to make a normal cup) and mismatched mugs. Kinda said it all, attention to detail wasn’t there.
You do get robes and slippers which are great if you’re a size 6 or below - no good for us.

To top it off this morning I woke up with bill for the upgrade - underlined. When i went down to say I’d paid - no apologies. I did ask if this was why I didn’t get the additional items in the room and he just shrugged - which has summed up my stay.

Would I recommend you stay here? *shrug*

Lovely place but.....

Lovely place, good fecililties. Would love more guidance on arrival as to what's available. I couldn't read any of the information about the saunas, steams etc, can't wear glasses so didn't really know what the benefits were. Staff helpful but everyone in different departments having loud personal conversations, which I kept having to interrupt to get help. Had a lovely facial but a hard sell of products ALL the way through it, I really wanted to relax. Nice place though, staff seem distracted by chatting. Awful problems booking the treatment etc. We nearly gave up. No one seems to know what's going on. Had help from a lovely lady in the end.
