I really wanted to leave a review specifically for Charlotte at Wickes Hertford because her customer service is genuinely some of the best I’ve experienced in a very long time.

The store is often incredibly busy and there never seems to be enough staff around, but Charlotte somehow always makes time. She is incredibly helpful, while also managing other customers’ expectations and making sure nobody feels ignored.

Today I came in with a Dulux paint that hadn’t been matched correctly at another branch. Charlotte went out of her way to help me, sorted the colour out and didn’t charge me for it, which I honestly wasn’t expecting and really appreciated.

I’ve been into the store a number of times and she is consistently brilliant.

The Hertford Wicks store has recently undergone a major refurbishment . Throughout the staff have continued to offer the very best in Customer Service .
Abi, Karen, Andy & the rest of the team have been outstanding .

I had a fantastic experience working with Costas at Wickes Hertford. He was incredibly responsive, knowledgeable and a real credit to the store.

His knowledge really shone through throughout the whole process. He thought of things we hadn’t even considered and was always on hand to offer helpful advice and guidance, which made everything feel seamless and straightforward.

Costas was a pleasure to work with from start to finish, and his professionalism and attention to detail made such a difference. I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again and would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for help with their project.

Cannot fault the service given by Dean Tolliday at Wickes Hertford.
His design for our bathroom was excellent.
Deliveries were all on time and the delivery guys were very helpfull.
Amy at Customer Services did a great job checking in to make sure everything was going smoothly.
Finally Stefan from SoSo bathroom fitters did a super job bringing the whole thing to life.

Live local use the store for my business / gone through major re design / staff been amazing helpful throughout the process ! Shout out to Abbi & Andy ! They know what ya need and where to direct you everytime !! Great store great staff !!

Updated: originally this was a 5-star review based on my experience with the design team, which I’ll leave below. But since the design process finished I’ve had no end of problems. From wrong coloured panels arriving, delivery delays, damaged items, a box was dropped as it came out of the van.

The worktops arrived without warning and were left outside the property unprotected and damaged by the rough stone path. They still haven’t been collected or replaced but they are chipped and scratched. The icing on the cake was the delivery driver signing on my behalf when I wasn’t there.

I’ve had to delay the installer and delay moving into the property because of these problems. So far it’s added a month to my renovation timeline but it still isn’t sorted.

I feel that by getting the ‘Lifestyle’ kitchen rather than a ‘Bespoke’ one, I immediately become a non-priority or concern as soon as the money was paid.

If I could, I’d refund the whole process and start again.

My original review for the design process is below:

What made my experience special was working with Costas Christou from the Hertford Showroom and Design Team. He is clearly so passionate about what he does and I feel the design was the best it could possibly be for the space. It was a lot of fun to discuss the pros and cons of each idea and plan, and craft an ideal space for the house. I feel no stone was left unturned to make it perfect.

Made an appoimtment for a design consultation at my dad's flat. Drove almost 2 hours to be there. No one showed up, no one picked up the phone when i called and now i'm getting emails thanking me for being present at a design consulation that never occurred.

Costas Christou was my design consultant
He came to my house to measure up then he made an appointment to go to the showroom to pick out what I wanted and see the layout on the computer.
Costas was very helpful and patient with what I wanted
He took me around the showroom to show me what I ordered and showed me on the screen how my bathroom would look
Costas is very professional and experienced at his job
He made the whole process very easy and stress free
Also had a kitchen with them a few years back
Would definitely recommend wickes and Costas if you want a new bathroom/kitchen

I have done 2 reviews this week about shabbily constructed Forest Garden fence panels - i was expecting more interest for you. Your reply was -

I am not a retail expert but what does 'we will share with our team' mean - nothing really. What about if you check the delivery goods before you dispatch them? What about bringing the poor panels to the attention of Forest Garden. You are good at responding but try to move on from Cut and Paste answers

We had a bathroom designed and installed by Wickes. there's a few issues but the main one being the shower screen doesn't fit our sloped ceiling. We have had nothing but the run around. Refusing to honour the Consumer Rights Act - that they have recommended an item that is not fit for purpose because it doesn't fit. The fitter installed it anyway, we couldn't open it properly so water leaked every time we showered. The fitter said Wickes would sort it out. He got rid of the box and he disappeared so we are stuck.

We were made to pay for another screen which has finally been fitted after much chasing. promises of when it would be delivered, confusion over what was being delivered, failed delivery dates and the new fitter telling us he has had to fix some issues from the previous fitter before wasn't great.

However Wickes refuse to come and get the old screen - even though their own website states: (for appliances or bathroom products including showers, taps and fitted mirror cabinets, these should not be uninstalled; and we can offer an onsite repair where appropriate to avoid removal and replacement. In such instances, please contact our customer service team using the Contact Form) with proof of purchase and we will offer you a full refund, replacement or an exchange (including any delivery charge). Alternatively, you can arrange for the faulty or defective product to be collected by contacting our Customer Services team and completing a contact form with your order number and details of the product to be returned. We will collect it at no expense to you and either provide a replacement, process a refund (including any delivery charge) or repair the goods."

We were told to purchase too many boxes of tiles, more than double the amount actually needed. Again the communication of trying to get these collected and back to store was painful. They were finally collected 2 weeks ago. But the driver wouldn't take the shower screen as well. Then, radio silence.

Finally I went in to Wickes to ask about our refund and nobody knew if the tiles had arrived at the store or not. they decided they would issue a refund but that was a week and a half ago now and nothing has turned up in my account so who knows.

and don't get me started on another measurement they got wrong meaning our radiator had to be moved. which we have had to pay for. That's not additional unforeseen works - that's your measuring error. Had we known we would have to move said radiator, we would have asked to reconfigure the bathroom cabinets. Once they have been paid (including the fitter) it's a case of 'I'm alright Jack' and you get passed from pillar to post.

Who is Project Manager? Wickes say they can't help with issues, the Fitters say its up to Wickes, and the Complaints Team keep referring back to the Design Team who got the measurements wrong in the first place. how can such a big company have such poor communication?

I am beyond frustrated, I don't write Trustpilot reviews, but nobody is listening or wants to help the issues that have arisen from Wickes.

I have spoken to many different people within the complaints department as the person dealing with my case is away. I have had the same conversations over adn over with different people, and I am so over what should have been a nice experience - investing a lot of money to get a nice bathroom.

Before you spend a lot of money on a Wickes bathroom or Kitchen, go and check the hundreds of Facebook messages in groups and on Reddit from desperate people who have been left in the lurch by Wickes. I wish I had done this research before booking in with Wickes. I feel a nuisance to them rather than a customer just trying to get a refund for items they recommended and that don't meet the description they sold me -

over 10 hours so far spent on the phone and emailing Wickes is ridiculous. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.

Rant over, that was rather cathartic.

On advice, we have given up on getting help from the Store, and are going to Citizens Advice and the Furniture Ombudsman to try and get our money back - we have paid for 2 shower screens now, nearly £400 down plus the tile refund if that ever shows up.

Costas really knows his stuff and very patient in what materials we chose. Also the actual shop is lovly quite a lot on show to help decide to . Will be buying the stuff from here

I've recently booked my bathroom renovation from Wickes and the whole process was easy. It was dealt with by Costas Christou in the Hertford showroom and he was brilliant. Explained everything really well, was friendly and listened to what I wanted to help design something that was exactly what i was looking for. great service and would recommend to anyone looking at getting work done. Thanks again to Costas for his time and effort.

Costas Christou (Wickes, Hertford) listened to my requirements, ie style and price range, etc for a bathroom upgrade, and he provided an excellent design. He answered my questions comprehensively and with patience. The begining of this project has been positive, and I look forward to seeing the end product.
