I rented a storage unit from Pack Rat. It came with a pre-existing hole that was duct taped. It had rust on the inside where the unit had been leaking. All of my belongings were ruined and Pack Rat refuses to pay for my destroyed property due to their NEGLIGENCE.

The worst $10K we have ever spent. Do not trust them! Trust me, I wish I did My research, they will waste your money and destroy months of your preparation, and not lift a finger to help you.
They did not deliver as promised, and that forced me to pay their contractor, Hire A Helper for 4x as much work. This resulted in me doing the unloading myself, although I paid too much. The two companies refused to work together at all. Their is no partnership or follow through concerning their 3rd party vendors that they sell you.
1-800-Pack-Rats had confirmed for months that they would deliver two of my pods on a given date. I re confirmed this date three days a head of time.
They could not deliver as promised because the operations manager at my destination was on vacation the week prior to my move-in date. They were not prepared to make good.
Nobody informed me that they would not be able to follow through on their promise. We were dead in the water on moving day. I did everything in my power to make this process work. They left me stranded and no one at the company would help.
The Ops guy told me ad nauseam about their policy that he needed to confirm the delivery. However, that was not a part of the process that the sales or support team handled.
Hire A Helper decided to send me FIVE helpers when I ordered two. They spent an hour there and left because 1-800-Pack-Rats would not be able to deliver. Hire A Helper denied my refund request because they paid five people. They sent me more than twice the requested helpers, and that is why they refused to refund me. Hire A Helper told me that they added people based on their schedules, but insisted that I would not pay more. This was not true. There was no recourse to discuss with either company.
There was no one beyond the first operator that I could speak to to resolve this. The only manager I got ahold of was the operations manager at Pack rats who proceeded to blame me for their policies that they did not follow. He refused to help.

I recently moved and rented a large POD and had Pack-Rat store container for about a month. In the process the POD was damaged in transit and leaked damaging the back portion of the POD. I paid for coverage up to $15,000 and when I filed my claim they only paid a very small portion, not even enough to have the damaged products hauled away. After sending a video of the rain pouring through the top of the unit and the damaged mattress, headboards and a few other items they denied my claim because I did not have proof of purchase. I will never use this company again.

All my stuff got wet resulting in a total loss of my belongings. They should make sure their containers are waterproof specifically if they are being used to store people's property. Please do not hire this services.

Do NOT trust this company. Promises all broken. Rude customer support. PODS are not going to be a week late and my wife is told “just get some provisions and you will be ok”

I got a 16 ft container delivered to my house to put my golf cart in during hurricane season. It said it was 7 feet high and my Golf Cart is 6.7 feet high. However, it didn’t take into account a latch that’s too low for my cart .. not even pictured in their ads. Scraped the top of my roof.. Brand new street legal cart.. ugh 😣 Plus it’s not fully sealed… like water could easily get in. I’m super bummed and hope they refund me.

Every step of the way this company has made mistakes that have cost us either additional money or hardship. Every time I have been on the phone with them, they seem to have no idea what is going on. Here's the breakdown of our long-distance move:
-No-showed on the day of delivering the empty container - delivered a day later at 11pm, causing us to pay our apartments additional money for moving out a day late.
-5 days late picking up the full container after we left, resulting in parking tickets due to the container remaining in guest parking spots beyond the agreed-upon time. These spots are pay by the hour but the apt managers were nice enough to let us keep it there during the times I was told by Pack Rat.
-Still waiting for the delivery of our belongings and its already been two weeks PAST the agreed-upon delivery date (7 business days)! I've been on the phone with so many "resolution specialists" and "supervisors" that I have lost count. Each time they promise it will be coming on such and such time and date and each time some sort of issue comes up, such as: "it accidentally got switched to 'on hold' in our system" or "we ran out of drivers for the day" or "someone must have accidentally moved you off the schedule" or the best one "we don't actually know where your container is located, but we will get back to you very soon." And of course, no one actually gets back to you! All I can say is, if you value your belongings (and money) and want to see them in a timely fashion, go with another business. I don't see how they can remain profitable much longer. I am now working my new job living out of a suitcase and sleeping on an air mattress for weeks upon weeks. I won't be getting my paycheck on time either since my hiring documents are in my safe which is where?..the container which is lost in the void of incompetency!

DO NOT HIRE!!!!! We were customers of Red Rover and they bought their accounts. HORRIBLE I am fighting now yo get my containers that have been paid in FULL with email confirmation! I cannot wait to file a formal complaint with BBB

BELIEVE THESE REVIEWS!!...do not hire. Zero communication, horrible company practices, absolute abuse. Our two containers arrived locked, NOT by us, and the driver had no keys. Phone call to PR and we were told "buy a bolt cutter or hire a locksmith": the locksmith charge was $340 and PR offered $160 toward that charge.
Once empty, we phoned for pick up and they stated it would be TWO full weeks before they could come; effectively throwing us into another month of rental fee.
Do yourself a favor, moving is stressful enough. Don't add to the chaos by hiring this shiesty unscrupulous company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
You call, the automated tell you there’s a 60 mins wait if you’ve already have an order.. called back and used “new” customer instead and they answered right away.. horrible!!!
And PackRat.. do yourself a favor and DO NOT have Curtis work for your company here in Houston

So far, so good. Everytime I have interacted with this company, they have been honest, responsive and so far have done everything to meet my needs.
They dropped the container, on time and picked it up on time. I am still awaiting arrival of my container in my current location. But so far I have nothing negative to say.
Prices were very reasonable and less expensive then other options.
1-800packrat was recommended and we are grateful.

Sadly, I had a very negative experience with Pack Rat for my move from Michigan to Florida. The problems began when they were **three days late** dropping off the shipping container at my Michigan home. This meant we had less than 24 hours to load an entire house worth of items into the container, which was incredibly stressful. Then, they contacted me to tell me they couldn't guarantee that the container would arrive in Florida before July 25th, despite originally committing to a delivery date of July 16th. This would have resulted in **nine extra days** of my family having no beds to sleep on, no towels to bathe with, no dishes to cook with, etc.! After many calls to their corporate call center and having my calls escalated to a Team Lead on their Service Dispatch Team, they were able to move my delivery date up to July 18. So in the end, our container was delivered **two days late**.
I spent so much time on the phone with the Operations Manager for the Plymouth, MI Pack Rat location and representatives from their corporate call center. In the end, I demanded compensation of $800 for them missing all of the deadlines they had committed to, and they gave me that amount back.
I do not plan to use Pack Rat again in the future since they did not honor the drop-off dates they had committed to for this move.

Awful experience with packrat. DO NOT USE THEM! From the point I called to schedule my long distance move it took them 12 days to get from Florida to Maryland. The day my stuff was supposed to be delivered there was no communication on when my stuff would be delivered. Finally the guy shows up around 6:00pm and there was only 1 container. I’m still waiting for someone to tell me when my other container will get here. It’s extremely frustrating when you move out of state and now waiting days for your stuff when you planned to have it on a certain day. The worst part about all of this is that all the employees act like this is a normal occurrence and I shouldn’t be so angry. Awful way to treat a customer.

One of the 3 pods leaked water and I had major damage. When I filled out the report 3 months later no one responded back to me. When I did get ahold of a rep they told me it was my fault.

Terrible experience. First they sent a pod that was smaller than we were told. Then they charged us $500 more than the agreed upon price, and charged my credit card without authorization from me. Then they transferred my stuff to Zippy (their sister company as they put it) who has told us they will NOT drop our stuff off until several weeks after the date that Pack Rat contracted with us. Zippy told us if we want our stuff faster we can drive 100 miles to get it ourself. Now I am sleeping on my floor with no mattress or clothing. What a joke this company is. Not sure if it is even legal to breach their contract in every possible way, but I will be looking into this. Stay away from Pack Rat and Zippy Shell.

Loved the containers. Several sizes, strong and sturdy, easy to load. Wonderful sales department, answering all questions, making revisions to schedule, very accommodating. Do not take their recommendation for Hire-A-Helper! Go to UHaul Movers. Quote from Hire-A-Helper was $1500. Uhaul was $345 for same job. Same for loading and unloading. Problem was in delivery of pods. One was delivered on time, the other delayed by 8 hours. Communication during this delivery was a long wait for each call. I was given much differing info each time I called. One pod was scheduled to be delivered to the wrong storage facility and had I not called, would have been. Seems like some employees don't make changes in system. Try to schedule your move in spring, fall or winter. Summer moves are their peak season and mistakes are made. Overall, I would choose them again because of the thousands I saved over other moving company. I'll know next time to stay in contact with them once my pods are picked up.

It started with a "5" but within hours later at present "1-2". I made a reservation today June 25,24 re: monthly on site storage. They sent the G-Mail contract which included an added insurance [silver plan $34.95 mo.]. I was never asked if I accepted or declined, it was "slipped in". No, no, no! Had I been asked I would definitely decline - I only have Goodwill items - not needed!!! I have made 5-6 attempts within hours or the reservation & call 3-4-5 have all been stalled & diverted with pitches & fast talkers! Let it be on the record that I checked no boxes of AGREEMENT. They state "3-days" to cancel. However it's if my # is highlighted & then diverted from getting through.The # claimed for all customer service & cancellations, questions, etc. is 1-800-772-5728 (1-800-PACK-RAT). This aversion to my attempts surely concerns me! All I want is that insurance eliminated! Update - I tried again (I'm so frustrated!) They put you on a recording of continuous diversions, delay & stalls! No getting through! I am sure all the gravy money is from this insurance tactic!

Our experience on a local move with this company was nothing short of a nightmare. They repeatedly missed deadlines to deliver or pickup pods saying they were short of drivers. When the pods were finally picked up from our new location only two were picked up. We called and were told the notes indicated the third could not be picked up because the ground was wet-total nonsense-they had just picked up the other two. We then get an email from them stating the third would be picked up the following week and the driver would call ahead-that did not happen as well as the amount quoted in the email for transportation costs did not match what we were debited. Called their billing department and was on hold the better part of 25 minutes. The girl could not answer any questions and we were told our only option was to wait indefinitely until a supervisor could come on the line but she did not know how long that would be. I would give this company a -10 if possible. We are now contacting our bank about the charges and the BBB in Central Ohio.

This is the Worst Company!! Don’t trust them when they tell you when to expect a delivery or a pick up of a container. They have lied about both and caused us so much stress. They have also charged hundreds more than they quoted. I have been waiting all day for the container filled with all my things to be delivered, I called and was reassured that they were coming today. They said it might be as late as 10pm, well it’s 10:30pm and it’s not here. I had hired movers to help unload at 8am tomorrow morning, but the container was Never delivered so now I have to pay the movers for their time! And who knows if they’ll have time to unload when it eventually arrives! Pack Rat did this on the pick up end too, and didn’t pick up the loaded container when they promised and our apartment threatened to fine us for leaving the container too long. It’s been an utter nightmare dealing with this company.

Informed the DAY it was to arrive that it would not be delivered. Representative told me that I needed an attitude adjustment when I could not accommodate the date the company wanted to deliver one. Then charged $250 because I could not change my plans to meet THEIR choice. Writing in to CEO. Worse business practices arrogant customer service people who are empowered to mistreat customers. *DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY YOU WILL BE SORRY ! * You are paying for hassles headaches and hours on the phone
