Little more than daylight robbery, awful behaviour.
This company have essentially stolen money from a doctor who'd just arrived in the UK. He was refused a vehicle for non-possession of an International Drivers License / Permit despite having this to hand and showing the team there. Despite showing this permit, he was not given the vehicle and subsequently Car Rental Centre have refused to refund the money. He used this same permit to rent a car from the office next door.
This seemingly amounts to little more than daylight robbery of a doctor who'd just arrived in the UK, due to work from the local hospital and treat the local community.
Despite a complaint being raised, and explained not only by myself but the doctor in questions, the flat refusal to refund his money has left me considering whether to report this to the authorities or not.
For reference, I am the Company Director for the company that helped relocate the doctor to the UK. It's embarrassing from a professional company and I expect him to be fully refunded once someone engages with his complaint. So far, he has just been given generic answers that don't address his complaint, and the doctor remains £300 out of pocket.
I really hope someone contacts me directly about this to discuss further, it amounts to little more than robbery and should be remedied immediately.
No customer service available
I originally made a booking that was supposed to include a free additional driver. The booking was paid and confirmed as such but when I checked with the car rental company there was no additional driver included.
As the deal was now no longer the best available (when adding in additional driver fees) I attempted to cancel the booking (within the free cancellation period) but the telephone only goes to a voicemail and the messages and emails go unanswered.
Promised "free cancellation" and yet No Refund! Customer's follow-up ignored!
Due to changes in my travelling schedule, I asked to cancel the booking on 20 May 2022 and arrange for the necessary refund as "free cancellation" was promised in their website.
On May 21, they email replied that the booking had been cancelled but refused to refund the £84.90 they earlier charged of my credit card, by stating that it is a non-refundable deposit and cannot be refunded. Instead, they offered me the amount as a credit towards future booking.
I followed up immediately that I do not agree that the £84.90 is a non-refundable deposit. As per the relevant clause stipulated in their advertised “Rental Terms & Conditions – Amendments and Cancellation Policy”, the car rental booking is free of charge. A copy of the Rental Terms was attached in my follow-up email as a reminder to them. I also highlighted to them that there was clear indication in their rental website that “Free Cancellation” is applicable. Screenshots of the relevant website page were attached in the email for their reference. In fact, as per their Rental Voucher of my reservation, there is NO indication that the Reservation Booking Fee of GBP84.90 is non-refundable.
After hearing nothing from them for about a week, I followed up with another email on May 27. The email was "read" by them on the same day as indicated by my email's "request a read receipt". As of today (May 31), I have yet to hear from them.
No way to get a REFUND as promised, and bad customer service!
Don't try and get a refund if there is no car!
When there was no way to get to the pick up point they asked me to prove I had arrived at the pick up point before giving me a refund! As instructed, I walked from the Hilton hotel at Stansted to the shuttle bus and waited an hour in -1 degrees. When I called the rental company they said there was no shuttle bus that day. I cancelled. The laborious process for giving a refund said I had to upload a document to prove I was at the bus stop. I asked "How?" No reply - and only a partial refund.
Excellent Service
I am delighted to say that the level of customer service provided by Peter was exceptional. He was polite, professional, happy to listen and eager to find a solution, it was an absolute pleasure to speak with him. My queries were answered instantly and nothing was too much trouble. If picking up my car at Heathrow is as easy as this then I will be extremely happy.

Great Service From The Car Rental Centre
Had booked a rental car from London Heathrow from another company and was let down badly. So found the car rental centre via a web search whilst in the airport. Gave them a call and spoke to a lovely lady called Lucy who gave me a price and answered all my questiins. The booking was confirmed over the phone and I was told to goto enterprise rent a car. My rental confirmation was also emailed to me right away I showed this to the man at the rental desk. He printed off the paper work and looked at my licence and took my card details and that was it. Was told to collect my car from a predefined bay number.
I was absolutely impressed how easy it was to arrange this car at short notice with the car rental centre and enterprise were really good also. Car was clean and a pleasure to drive.
When I returned it was just as easy.
Total 5 stars for both the car rental centre and enterprise for saving the day.
Will use this service again as I understand they rent cars all around the world.
A big shout out to Lucy from the car rental centre also for helping me sort my car after being let down.

Good and helpful site for booking car rentals in the UK
Each year I book car rentals through The Car Rental Centre and have been extremely happy with their service. This year due to Covid 19 we are unable to travel to the UK from Australia and so regretfully we have had to cancel our booking. I have received a prompt reply and a promised refund of my deposit paid. Hopefully next year we will be able to travel again and I will definitely be booking through The Car Rental Centre.
Cutting off all ways to contact them
Like others here I have had to cancel our reservation, taking up the 'free cancellation' as stated on the website.
I emailed twice more than a week ago with no response, the telephone number does not go through and now I receive an error message when I try to send a follow-up email! Plus I cannot log into the online portal and receive yet another error message when I try to re-set my password.
So there is zero ways to communicate with The Car Rental Centre.
It looks like they may be in difficulty as many others are right now, but even so, cutting off all communication with customers, and providing no notification, is just unacceptable. Very dissapointed. I sincerely hope this is a technical error and I am mistaken.
No reply from the company
For 2 weeks I have been trying to cancel my reservation and be reimbursed the deposit already deducted from my rental card. The CarRental Centre does not respond to my messages and the phone number does not seem to work. I do not understand, does anyone have a phone number or email I can try?
Finally the company contacted me, cancelled the booking and credited my credit card. I am happy with the final outcome but still wish they could have acknowledged receipt of my original emails

I have been emailling the company for the past three days to cancel my booking dut to COVIT 19 and have had 0 replies. The telephone number is not a 'noral rate' number and will cost in excess of $20 a minute.
How do I cancel / communicate with a company who refuses to reply to the emails that I have sent through your 'contact us' channels. The situation is stressful anyway, this company is not helping.

Upsetting experience
In February I booked a car with Enterprise through this company's website for an upcoming holiday in the UK with my wife. I had done my homework on car rentals in the UK and looked at several car rental sites before booking a vehicle through the Car Rental Centre. The main reason that I chose this rental vehicle was that the price was shown on the Car Rental Centre website as including collision damage waiver and theft waiver. When I reviewed the booking confirmation/voucher a couple of weeks ago I noticed that it did not mention the waivers, so I emailed the company for confirmation that it did. I was initially told that the rate was a special USA/CA rate that does not include the waivers. When I replied that the offer on their site showed the waivers as included in the price and made no mention (that I could see) of this being a special USA/CA rate I was told that they had full details of the deal offered (which did not include the waivers) and was asked to send a screen shot of the offering that I was relying on. I sent the screen shot as requested, but despite a follow-up email to them (wherein I also requested that they send me their details of the booking) I have heard nothing further. I struggled with whether to post this comment, as I don't want to jeopardize my booking with Enterprise, and while I doubt that anything will change now (I am trying to arrange collision and theft insurance coverage through my credit card) I have found the whole experience to be upsetting and frustrating, particularly the lack of response to my emails. If I missed something please show me where.

We had a problem with Enterprise charging above the amount we had organised with the Car Rental Centre. It did take some time to get in touch with the Car Rental Centre ( due to their website not downloading ) but David sorted the problem and we were reimbursed the money.
