A lot of these 'helpful' who called me sites are actually run by the scam callers.

800Notes is a great example of why crowdsourcing information often simply leads to mass paranoia and misinformation, especially when it's commandeered by trolls who throw around accusations without any effort in verifying the information themselves.

After a long period of using this site to quickly look up phone numbers from calls I would receive throughout the day, I decided to contribute to the site when a number finally turned out to be legitimate. This number was verified with the institution involved. In my comment, I noted that I did not have to provide personal information as the institution already had it all on hand (as they should if they are legitimate), and that they called only to confirm that a transaction was not fraudulent. I was immediately accused of being a scammer by trolls who obsessively harass commenters and brigade all numbers constantly.

Ironically, the negative comments regarding the number on 800Notes were the only reason I decided to verify the number directly with the institution, who completely contradicted the misinformation on the site, proving that the site is more or less worthless in providing any legitimate and verified information.

Just use common sense. If in doubt, verify directly with those involved. Don't rely on a website full of trolls who think they get to decide whether a number is legitimate or not based on nothing while berating anyone who has verified the contrary through the official channels.

The site at some point was useful, that is no longer the case. In effect the website is currently a house for trolls who are also admins. Almost anything you post there will eventually be trolled relentlessly by admins and users. I, when posting there, have been relentlessly trolled by the admins and some of the registered users. There is just plain better places to report phone numbers.

Use IC3.gov or FCC and FTC online complaint forms. You can report on white pages and other phone book sites as well.

The Moderators/Trolls send truculent mordant replies to you, cast negative votes on your posting, delete any replies you send back to them.

Advice: Avoid the site because BigA & TygerKat reply truculently to everyone.

This is the only venue where I can post a spam phone number & read other spam victims accounts, read information addressing current legal actions being taken to arrest spammers, & see if the spam number is actually spam. NEVER CHARGED A FEE to join or look up the number, etc.

800notes has several trolls on there including BigA, Resident47, and TygerCat. They all make fun of posters, provide no value to the site, and bully. Quite literally, after the few times I have posted there, I get a mean, nasty or rude comment from them, usually making fun of my posts or explaining that I didn’t post correctly. I thought the site was for the sharing of information, and for the benefit of people to see what number called them - yet 800 notes has proven to be a crappy website with HORRIBLE administrators.

Mods are senseless low IQ / low class troll bullies - to be seen to be believed

The moderators like BigA , TygerKat, etc, have a severe Narcissistic Personality Disorder; a pervasive pattern of grandiosity and self-importance, need for admiration, and lack of empathy. All are rude and make no sense.

Disrespect, anger, hostility, arrogance & aggression is what they live for so you can just imagine what these creeps look like in real life.

These bullies attempt to gives away their shame by denigrating you and use this holier-than-thou behavior as a way to feel good about themselves. Challenged goofs.

They "Provide No Value" to the site and quash usable information & bully people in an attempt to preserve their inflated egos. One could swear they work for the telemarketers and scammers.

If I could give this website a zero I would. They are a disgrace!!! I comment on a couple of posts they allowed to be published. The post said that phone number 1-877-242-7524 was legit calls coming from the IRS and Massachusetts Dept of Revenue. When I replied commenting that in fact it was a scam To serve as a warning to people, I got an extremely rude comment back from the administrator among other extremely rude things they said, they also said they are not publishing my comments. So bottom line they are shady, inaccurate and above all USELESS!!!!

This website is terrible. I searched a phone number that kept calling me and saw it said it was a scam. But after researching it to the office where the past due bill originated because the debt collector referenced the specific office and provided their phone number of an account number, I posted comments saying that this turned out to be a real debt collection company. I called the original bill source and found out I did have a very past due bill that I forgot about and their bills didn't forward to my new address. I tried telling people they should look into the original source, find out if it's a true debt, and pay the office directly (NOT the debt collection company) to avoid a collection on their credit. There are two men literally harassing me in comments saying they "know" I'm trying to perpetuate the scam because "I must work with them".
Not only that, they started asking why they couldn't find my employer information anywhere to "prove I'm real". WHERE AND HOW would they be able to find that if I only provided minimal (and private!) information to post in that forum. Even if only moderators are able to see this private information, then this website is even more disturbing than I thought. The harassment and the security concern is terrifying and I'll be finding where and how to report this site. It's not a place to post informative comments about 800 numbers. It's a place that it seems "frequent fliers" and moderators use as another social media type of platform to get their fill of protecting their hateful lives onto others and harassing them, along with numerous security and anonymity violations. I am terrified that I ever posted there, and there is no way to delete my comments to protect myself from further security violations.

Contrary to their website "report unwanted calls to help identify",
my posts of frequent hang ups/spam calls have now been deleted.
I have been plagued( as everyone else ) with spam calls since 2014
The worst year 2016 was over 1000 hang ups and scam calls(the IRS has a warrant out for your arrest)
Then came Nomorobo. Blocked 85% of spam calls. What a blessing.
Around that time, I came across 800notes. Here are people with the same issue, comrades in arms against spam calls.
Or so I thought.
Over the years I have reported hang up and spam calls, I start to get "we don't believe you" posts.
Really? I'm the only one who gets daily calls from unknown names /numbers who hang up and don't leave voicemail? Or scam auto warranty? Or the IRS is after you?
And God forbid you mention FREE Nomorobo or ANY Voip by name, as it will get you "post pending review by moderator".
You would think a website dedicated to reporting spam calls would want people to use a free service, like FREE Nomorobo, to help stop spam calls.
After all, that is their stated goal, " report unwanted calls".
You would be wrong.
And that's too bad.
It's now run by individuals who have their own agenda, and it's not reporting hang-ups/spam calls.
My advice? If you get your telephone service from your cable company, ask how to turn on Nomorobo.
It's FREE.
If you just get internet from your cable provider, do a search for Voip.
I use ooma, cost under $20 a month, includes nomorobo.
Way better than POTS from Verizon/Frontier @ $60 per month.
Now this requires you to do some home work. Ask your friends who they use.
The more people use who spam blockers, like FREE Nomorobo for home use, or FREE android google phone app which has a FREE spam blocker, will reduce spam calls for everyone, as it gets added to the data base for spam calls.
And you will not find that information on 800notes.
I know, they actually admitted they don't allow the FREE service Nomorobo to be posted.

Next time you get a spam call, post the number to 800notes. Mention you reported it to nomorobo block list.

I agree with previous reviewer that 800notes is a bully. I tried to stand up for someone who was being bullied, and they turned on me. They deleted my posts, then called me a troll, which I am not. I always used respectful wording, make good points, explained why the number that called me was a robo, and it's like they didn't even read it. There are much easier ways of finding out if phone numbers are a scam. I will not post on this site again, and don't forget, this ends with 'dot com.' They are tracking you. I am still trying to get my sign up removed so they don't have my email. Not that easy.

Never knew of 800notes until searching for comments on a number in question and suspected of fraud/fake/scam. Quite a few users commented on it being a scam. Other reporting sites had minimal information and provided very little. At that time some 7+ (estimated) years ago it was obvious I needed to become a user myself, and so I did. I've not looked back since. I continue adding new and fresh content as it becomes available. FAKE/FRAUD/SCAMS never die, so to help the public be aware and not victims I enjoy posting to prevent others from being would be victims. If 10 stars were available I'd give that rating!!! The ONLY thing I'd change is a post with numerous numbers to post a comment with other numbers in order to post ONE once making the other numbers also searchable instead of numerous posts and changing the other numbers as the primary.

Great place to post details of telemarketer robo calls, silent calls (no message), or of other unwanted calls. A lot of people are getting tired of relentless unwanted telemarketing calls. This site puts calls into perspective of how many other people are also getting calls from the same phone numbers.

Posted known phone numbers of the collection agency or debt collector ‭“Account Services USA”or “Healthcare Financial Services, USA” as this company has multiple names that it goes by.
The comment I left on 800Notes only identified the numbers as phone numbers used by this company; some of the names used by the company and an address at a main address for this business, as many people had already posted at these same phone numbers that this debt collector company never identified themselves (no name of company given) when they called, or the purpose of the call (debt collection) but only to call back at a different phone number than the number used to call the individual. In other words, on 800Notes, people have no idea still at this time who is calling them when they receive phone calls from this company!! That is because the moderator(s) of 800Notes refuse to publish the information regarding this debt collector!! There was nothing negative said on my posts; only factual information and right now for weeks the only comment shown is “Waiting for moderator approval”. Is there a problem with posting facts about debt collectors? Especially when this company goes by so many different names, phone numbers and does not send any letters notifying you of who they are or why they are contacting you! If there is no problem with posting phone numbers of debt collectors then the issue is the length of time to get approval for postings. Thank you.

They patronize the collection agencies which is a direct conflict of what 800 notes is all about.

Collection agants hijack threads to post antagonistic or misleading information to entrap their victims after they can no longer take them to court by law.

This site helps me to identify if the caller is listed here as spam, scam, or just someone I don't need to talk to.
And many time they have it here already when I declined a call from a new number, then I come to this site to see who the hell it is this time.
And I tried actively report scam / spam calls here in hopes to help others.

Have been using this site for years but when I defended myself from surly, snarky, arrogant comments by their 'Insiders' (those with registered Names/Icons: "TheRealSerious","Slim" and "Heinz57") the 'moderator' had all my comments removed - even though I made numerous valid points. This site seems to encourage & 'employ' mostly impatient, self-congratulating *men* who have nothing better to do than to criticize the very people whom they encourage to use the site to report unwanted spam calls. Many of these 'insiders' use their position to display their self-determined 'superiority' and belittle & disparage those whom they think are less than (dumber) and by that inferiority have somehow caused themselves to be victim of - or have failed to prevent - these calls, even though most of us are inundated with this scourge beyond our control. If only we ignorant peons were all as smart and tech-savvy and have lives that EXACTLY match those 800Notes wizards who grace us with their wisdom and advice that is perfectly suitable to *all* situations, no matter what, with no room for diversity of experience.

Great place to find out about an unwanted call. The people there are pretty knowledgeable and helpful in pointing you in the right direction when asked.

When I got a call from a number I do not recognize, the majority of the time I can plug that number in at this site and find out who the caller was. I can then make a determination if I want to call the number back or whether I want to answer it the next time they call.
