What is the Access Card? The physical card acts as a photo ID that can be used to easily communicate your access requirements to events and venues, so that the venues can provide accessibility to the needs of their visitors. It also works online with other platforms like ticketing systems, to unlock the access facilities you need. The card shows a photo ID and translates a persons disability or impairment into symbols, effectively highlighting the barriers they face and the reasonable adjustments they might need. The Access Card app provides you with a personalised directory of venues, with first-class accessibility information to help you plan your trips.

Hopefully works for me

I have given 5⭐️ overall, however there are some niggles that I feel for existing or new customers need to be aware of.

I went to Lincoln Castle in the summer and struggled with my disabilities, I had no idea of the Nimbus or Access card.

I read an awful lot of information just to see if it was for me. I applied, read the guidelines what would happen, and what evidence was required.

Now I am under the impression that the Access card is run more so by disabled people. I understand the need to show evidence like PIP, blue badge etc. I filled mine in one Saturday and an email came back to say needed my pip evidence again as they couldn’t find it. Then wanted evidence I couldn’t walk far. I sent them a lot of information from my surgeon, X-rays of my spine, hips, and proved every ailment I have, which I might add, the Doctor said was extensive. I was a bit surprised I had to send in so much personal stuff.

However I know these things do have to be checked, otherwise anyone could get them.. I guess it’s not meant to be easy, to prevent fraud.

I paid the extra £5 to have the access card delivered between 1-3 days. Thing is RM delivery around our way is horrendous, so decided to pay the extra. Glad I did as it was delivered quickly. The company has responded to emails super quick, kept me in the loop. Any concerns were addressed. If you want peace of mind, I would pay the extra, I have read a lot have gone astray, and some waiting months.

Once received the card I have the key symbols marked as requested. I have the standing and queuing, level access, distance, WC +1 and miscellaneous. So I am pleased I gave all the evidence required.

When the access card came,I then sent off for the lanyard, quite attractive in green. I didn’t pay any extra postage on that, but came within 5 days.

Everyone via email responded in a timely manner, and the access card was very easy to understand.

Thank you for everything.

Nimbus access card

Applied for nimbus access card got plus 1 queing and tiolet needs . The card was only 15 pounds for 3 years. Bought theatre ticket got a reduced priced ticket and a free companion ticket. One visit to the theatre saved more than the price of the card.

Extremely poor

Extremely poor and complete lack of understanding.

I write this review from most parents point of view I feel.

It is hard enough having a child with any disability. But then having to deal with Access Card is one stress I can't take.

After filling the online form and submitting with payment along with multiple hospital, doctors and other medical forms to be given a flat 'No'.

Your application cannot be processed due the 'decision maker' saying you do not have enough evidence to support your case.

Communication is extremely slow, condescending
and rude.

For what should be a simple and painless process has so far become a 2 month long process 4 plus hospital documents, requests for bank statements and government documents.

This is a complete con to protect large businesses and simply to discriminate anyone with a disability

Resposta da Access Card

Thank you for your feedback regarding our application process. We'd like to clarify a few points and sincerely apologise if you felt our team had a "flat no" policy for applications. This is not our approach, and we will always work with an applicant to get the information we need. Our process is rooted in the social model of disability, which focuses on the barriers people face, rather than their medical condition. To ensure we can provide the appropriate symbols and support, we require documentation that explains the functional impact of the applicant's disability and the specific barriers the applicant encounters at an event or venue. We understand that two people with the same impairment may have very different needs, which is why we ask for this information. If the initial documentation doesn't provide enough detail, our decision-making team will always prompt for more information or additional documents to ensure we can meet the needs of the applicant equitably. The goal is to provide everyone with the support they need, and we are committed to this. Our team is predominantly made up of disabled people, and our approach is always to put the applicant's needs first while adhering to the Equality Act. For this reason, documentation is a key part of how we allocate our symbols.
We also want to clarify the request for a bank statement. In some cases, if an applicant receives disability payments, the amounts can help us understand the level of support they are receiving through the rates received and where they may need additional assistance. This is not a standard request for all applicants. Thank you again for your feedback. If you would like to discuss this further, please don't hesitate to email us at feedback@nimbusdisability.com where a senior member of our team will be happy to help

This is a disgraceful Con

This is a disgraceful Con. They took my money as soon as I applied, then refused the access I needed. They were very slow to tell me they were refusing my application. They asked for information I didn’t have access to. I managed to speak to someone on the phone after listening to them repeatedly telling me not to ring them. This person appeared to be helpful. She told me what to send them. I sent it. They then took a week to say this was not enough evidence AGAIN. I then contacted the theatre and they had no difficulty giving me the disabled ticket I needed. This has been a very unpleasant experience. I am still waiting for them to refund my money. I think it is a con. Avoid!

Disabled people simply judging disabilities.

Rude, dismissive and judgemental. Despite providing proof my son receives HIGH RATE CARE, I was told he doesn’t need a plus one carer because “parents are always there anyway.”

Yes, parents are present — but when you have other children, you cannot give 1:1 attention at all times. That is the whole point of needing additional support. Their response shows no understanding of the realities of parenting disabled children.

Families like mine aren’t asking for extras — just the fair support our children need to safely access the community. It’s disheartening to see disabled people discriminating against disabled children in this way.

I would not recommend them to any parent of a disabled child.

SCAM

Takes your money, asks for a ridiculous amount of sensitive and personal information (in my case regarding my child) then still tells you your application was unsuccessful (whilst keeping the money).
Disgusting.

Very little support for ambulant…

Very little support for ambulant disabled people.

I have been asked to provide more information as to why I need a +1, which I have, and it was deemed as not sufficient and I need another letter from a medical professional. I have chased for the last 3 weeks a form that I can give my GP to fill out to explain why I would need a personal assistant, and I am yet to receive it.

My GP has asked what it is they need, so they can provide it, to which they just give me a canned response answer asking me to prove I receive PIP. I do not receive PIP as I am currently in the application process and they would not tell me what they need so I can get the +1 I am entitled to.

However, my brother was accepted with the same needs as me, with a +1 symbol, with the same proof, and he is more independent than I!

It seems they pick and choose what they want to give. It has now been 3 out of the 4 weeks I have not had a sufficient response and I am so worried I will lose my money and have to start again.

I have received little to no help or advice. Really poor experience by a company run by disabled people, who excludes their own.

Discriminative to hidden disabilities - be warned!

Absolutely disgusting company making money out of disabled people and then when it actually comes to it not allowing a +1 . I am autistic with adhd. I have endometriosis and irritable bowel syndrome. I also have fibromyalgia. Yet apparently I'm not disabled enough to get a carers pass. So if you can walk a bit and talk a bit then you're not disabled enough. Would never recommend this. Its just more aggravation to what has already been a hard life to live.

Fantastic service

I applied for an Access Card and got a response within a couple of days. The service feels personalised, rather than just a bot processing your application, and I got the impression that they read the supporting documents and consider them carefully.
I can't comment on the delivery of the card as ours will be posted out tomorrow, but so far I have had a great experience.
